Lookin___ Posted January 5 Posted January 5 I just had a weird experience trying to hire someone in NYC. I was trying to plan ahead and he claimed he was trying to be helpful. He wanted a deposit. I sent the deposit then he started offering things that didn’t feel right. Some of his comments were starting to lead me to believe he was a police officer not a legitimate escort. I ended up just cancelling telling him that I chose to keep it as a fantasy. He didn’t even get upset. I am not a paranoid person by any means. Has anyone else ran across this? Are the police perusing RM? marylander1940 1
+ keroscenefire Posted January 5 Posted January 5 In general definitely don't do a deposit. Also in general it's best to be kind of general. haha. Instead of saying, "I'd like you to fuck me doggy," for example. You say, "When I am with guys I love to be fucked doggy." Technically the first is a specific sex act that if you exchange money for, could be technically cosnidered prostitution. In the second you are just saying what you are into sexually with another person. I also always ask, "What do you request for an hour of your time?" Instead of "How much for sex?" This is why a lot of escorts ask the question, "What are you into?" Instead of "What do you want me to do?" It's semantics but legally there is a difference there. But no, I don't think police are on RM and I think you are probably being paranoid. + Pensant, liubit, Seymour Butts and 5 others 4 4

You can discuss your sexusal INTERESTS and see if they share your sexual INTERESTS. But don't make it clear that it's money for sex. marylander1940, MikeBiDude, ReynST and 4 others 2 5

Lookin___ Posted January 5 Author Posted January 5 No I did not. It was only $100. He wanted $500 more. I am still learning as I have only done it a couple of times. It sounds like I was being to open, trustworthy and honest.

I have occasionally done a like $25-50 deposit for a few select escorts that I know are real. This sounds all very sus. Move on to someone more verified on here if you are new. liubit, Moke, thomas and 2 others 4 1

How do I find someone on here that is verified?

If you find the name and lots of positive experiences with members than he's probably good. TorontoDrew, Callas, pubic_assistance and 2 others 5

If it looks too good to be true, it probably is. Avoid deposits. + Vegas_Millennial, Lookin___, + Drew Collins and 3 others 1 1 4
BuffaloKyle Posted January 6 Posted January 6 There are so many guys too in NYC really no need to hire someone who wants a deposit. TorontoDrew, + keroscenefire, pubic_assistance and 2 others 3 2
Moke Posted January 6 Posted January 6 Yeah, i hate to pile on because I see you are brand new here (welcome)... but lesson #1 is never pay a deposit. and for gods sake, not something like 100... that's just asking to be taken advantage of. Good luck... we all learn! + Just Sayin, + keroscenefire, thomas and 2 others 1 1 2 1

Oakman Posted January 6 Posted January 6 There isn’t a police department or law enforcement agency in the county that has time to waste on this sort of thing. Sex work is only pursued as a crime in instances of trafficking, pimping, code violations (brothels) and street walking. The notion that an agency has time to go after individual Johns through internet stings is just unrealistic, given the need for law enforcement resources on other matters. pubic_assistance, liubit, + keroscenefire and 1 other 1 1 2

Yes and no. You never know when the winds may change on the subject of escorting. There has definitley been a movement to define all sex work as "human trafficking"..so I disagree with your confidence of your safety. It's easy enough to be discreet in documented communications by talking around things in a manner that leave a degree of denialbility. "How much does it cost to fuck you up the ass and cum in your mouth?" leaves no room for doubt in a potential prosecution. liubit, + keroscenefire and + KensingtonHomo 2 1

This is true. Pornhub became illegal in 16 states today. And I suspect those are the states that also want to catch gay men, immigrants, etc, to prove we’re perverts. And the definition of Trafficking has been completely abused. The combination of old school feminism and religion makes for a particularly noxious blend. + DrownedBoy, Lookin___ and pubic_assistance 2 1

Pornhub chose to block access to its site in 16 states rather than comply with new laws requiring age verification for accessing pornographic platforms. Personally, I think they made the right call. You are right on that one. In another thread I talked about my meetings and discussions with the FBI (not sex industry related) and there are small dollar cases they will pursue to "grab headlines" to make sure people are aware that X, Y, or Z, is definitely illegal and they're watching. They always go after the high dollar stuff and really bad stuff, but they have admitted that "grabbing headlines" (their words) are part of the playbook. So.... (on that note, feds don't get involved in sex work, it's always local law enforcement. But they sometimes want to make a statement too) Edited January 9 by ThroatCummer
