samhexum Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 Used to be sad, Used to be shy, The funniest thing, the saddest part Is I never knew why. Kicking myself for nothing was my favorite sport. I had to get out and start enjoying 'cause life's too short... There's a new girl in town and she's feeling GOOD- Got a smile, got a song For the neighborhood. Things are great when you stand on your own 2 feet And this girl's here to say With some luck and love Life's gonna be So SWEE-EET! + ApexNomad, thomas, + sync and 1 other 4

What a bizarre thing for a grieving husband to post. Nonetheless, I do understand that we all handle death in our own way. I strongly believe that any thing a person does in the 6 months following the loss of a spouse is ok. Anything. Laugh, cry, scream, avoid old friends, sell the house and move 1,000 miles away, visit psychics, make bizarre videos, whatever it’s all a part of the process and it’s all ok. thomas and mike carey 2

Laugh, cry, scream, avoid old friends, sell the house and move 1,000 miles away, visit psychics, make bizarre videos, whatever it’s all a part of the process and it’s all ok. I remember when my mother died unexpectedly from pneumonia in the summer of 1997 right before her 64th birthday, one of the first things my dad did when he was home by himself (a week or two later) was to 'clean out the basement'. He needed to keep occupied and busy. My sister and I were in our mid-30s, so the basement was mostly filled with our 'stuff' which we hadn't touched in years (from childhood - college years) and had long forgotten about. Good riddance to all of that ! Aside from that, there was plenty of 'stuff' my dad had packed away down there and hadn't needed in decades. I would say less than 10% belonged to my mother. So my dad does a big clean-out and gets rid of about half the stuff down there. A few days later, he carries it all upstairs and lines the curb with boxes of junk for the trash delivery to pick up. One of my neighbors saw all the boxes of junk lined up on the curb (and she knew my mom very well), and came over to talk to me that day when I was getting out of my car. She asked in a nice way, 'Where did all that come from ?' and I told her 'The basement. My dad's been cleaning out the basement this week.' She responded, "Wow! I've known your mother for nearly 40 years. I never knew she was such a hoarder. She kept the house so neat and spotless." I let out such a laugh - I needed that. Then I had to explain to her it wasn't my mother's stuff - it belonged to me, my sister, and dad. My mother kept nothing (she wasn't really a 'keeper' of anything, which is how she kept the house so clean and spotless). My neighbor and I couldn't stop laughing. She said to me, 'Well you know, timing is everything - and it looks like you father finally got the chance to get rid of all the stuff your mother hoarded for years.' + sync and thomas 2

samhexum Posted January 25 Posted January 25 Max Mutchnick, co-creator of the upcoming Hulu comedy Mid-Century Modern, shared on Friday evening how the series will write out the late Linda Lavin‘s character, Sybil Schneiderman. In an Instagram post accompanied by BTS photos of series co-leads Nathan Lane, Matt Bomer and Nathan Lee Graham, and others, all clearly dressed for a memorial service, Mutchnick wrote, “This Week at ‘Mid Century Modern’ we filmed an episode I never thought we’d have to write — ‘Here’s to You, Mrs Schneiderman'

You had the Gold sisters, the Gilbert sisters, the Sweetin sisters, the Camerons, the McKeons, the Lawrence Brothers, and several other examples I'm sure I'll think of as soon as I post this. But I don't think I've ever seen the first season, since this version of the theme song isn't familiar. Its fantastic ! I have a real fetish for 70s music, especially Motown style. In my head...I am thinking they toned it down over the years becasue I don't remember it being so sexy. What a great performer Linda Lavin was. Rest*in*peace. thomas 1
+ sniper Posted January 25 Posted January 25 I assumed it was just different verses of the same song. But it was also the show ran for a long time. They were different points in the character's life. pubic_assistance 1
viewing ownly Posted January 26 Posted January 26 There are shows I've never seen such as the one she starred in, but know the cultural impact they had due to their unavoidable popularity. That will always be known as the "Kiss My Grits" show to me and many others. CuriousByNature 1
