Callas Posted December 22, 2024 Posted December 22, 2024 Why did they retire? how many years do providers / masseurs stay in business until they retire? do they still see some regulars after retiring? thank you! reading a few comments about other members’ favorite / top ones retired has made me feel a bit worried — lots of providers / masseurs in NYC, but great ones can be counted by fingers…

Whippoorwill Posted December 23, 2024 Posted December 23, 2024 (edited) One of my favorites got his university degree (paid for by years of excellent work), has a new profession, and retired from massage. Happily, he still sees me and a few other regulars. Edited December 23, 2024 by Whippoorwill Johnrom, + ApexNomad, Callas and 3 others 1 1 4

Of the ones I have known/know who have, they retired because... - they found love/a sugar daddy/etc. - only did it for quick cash or make enough to put themselves through school. - even though they love what they do they get worn out and want to do something else - some just abruptly quit cold turkey and drop off the face of the earth - some just feel it's time to retire. The work span for each individual provider/masseur is up to that particular person. There is no set time frame. Some retired providers/masseurs do see at least some of their regulars. While others, once retired, they will cut all their regulars off and move on to the next phase of their life/career. In my experience, I am in contact with a number of retired/semi-retired mostly providers and one masseur. My interactions with these guys varies. Some I've formed friendships with and talk to them on and off each year. Some I even go on trips together. Others I still get to hire on occasion. The best you can hope for is that you meet a great provider/masseur and you get to see him regularly for more than a couple years. If more comes out if it... that's a huge bonus. At least for those i talked with Maybe this was a misunderstanding. I was quoting a provider presumably, not a client. I agree, most clients are good people. Providers should stay in business because they truly enjoy what they do, and leave the profession when it no longer suits them. When the negatives outweigh the positives, that’s certainly a strong reason to retire. Clarification: by escape their misery, I simply meant leave the profession. Work doing something else for the right balance of positives to negatives to make it work for their life. Edited December 25, 2024 by Simon Suraci Clarification
BuffaloKyle Posted December 25, 2024 Posted December 25, 2024 I've seen providers "retire" too if they build up enough of a regular client base and no longer need to attract new clients. TorontoDrew, + DrownedBoy, BaronArtz and 2 others 3 2

In addition, I have seen a few providers that had an escort and a massage ad, retire their escort and but keeping the massage ad. When I asked them about it, they said that escorting was a whole different game they didn't want to deal with at least not with new clients. I had my very favorite masseur in NYC ask me to please not write a review on Rentmasseur or mention him on this forum. He is happy with the clients he has and does not want to attract new clients. I respect that request. He is keeping his ad with his many positive reviews active 'just in 'case'. Callas, Whippoorwill and Johnrom 2 1

That's not exactly retired.... those providers you speak of are still working but not having to rely on the advertising sites, nor do they do anything they don't wanna do, they don't see anyone they don't truly want to see ( no more strangers) ....that level of operation is a luxury that borders opulence... I would add another reason: I know two providers who retired once they had raised enough money to start their own businesses. In both instances, that was their goal, and I must say, I was genuinely impressed by their discipline and commitment in achieving it. Callas, Whippoorwill, + DrownedBoy and 4 others 2 1 1 3

alrajee Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 I am social media friends with two guys who I hired in the past. Both of them are retired. One opened his own fitness center and fathered a child with his wife of a few years. The other finished school. I still hang out with them on occasion. Nothing sexual. I don’t even bring my hiring history with them. Whippoorwill, Vin Marco, nate_sf and 2 others 2 3

Not only do people love comeback stories but who doesn't love an awesome escort story with a real happy ending?? I've been doing it long enough to know the endings aren't always pretty nor are they soft. I applaud both lifers and the stepping stone folks. I know someone that in the the early 2000's who did it for MAYBE 1 to 1.5 years who was able to pay off his entire student loan and still had a substantial and I mean substantial amount left over after the loan was paid off. He also ended up with a closet of sartorial excess that I tease him about ( shoes and cool watches; probably mostly gifts ) By all accounts another success story, no tragic ending. Someone who offered a service and met a lot of really good people in a rather short amount of time who kind of rode off into the sunset 🌅 😜🙌🏽👏🏽 I love hearing about when people retire happy, achieved what they set out to do and "retired" truly retired from the biz on their terms ☺️ Edited December 27, 2024 by Vin Marco Steve_D, Whippoorwill, Simon Suraci and 5 others 6 1 1
