Luv2play Posted April 8, 2024 Posted April 8, 2024 I am sitting in my back yard and the solar eclipse has just started. I live in a zone of 100 percent coverage so in an hour from now will see full eclipse. That is, if the clouds don’t move in first. They are approaching from the west so will be a race against time. + m_writer, Dolman, + Vegas_Millennial and 1 other 4
Luv2play Posted April 8, 2024 Author Posted April 8, 2024 I can now see a bite out of the lower right side of the sun. Hasn’t impacted the ambient light yet. It’s 2:39 edt.
Luv2play Posted April 8, 2024 Author Posted April 8, 2024 It’s another half hour till total eclipse. But the clouds are thickening fast .
Luv2play Posted April 8, 2024 Author Posted April 8, 2024 It’s 3pm now and the sun just peaked out from the clouds. A one third crescent has been taken out of the sun. + Vegas_Millennial 1
Luv2play Posted April 8, 2024 Author Posted April 8, 2024 It’s 3:07 and now half the sun has disappeared. + Vegas_Millennial 1
Luv2play Posted April 8, 2024 Author Posted April 8, 2024 I might have my sun downer cocktail early today. Just a thought. Lol + Vegas_Millennial 1

Welshman Posted April 8, 2024 Posted April 8, 2024 If you have now developed the bug for seeing solar eclipses (which according to surveys 86% of people who see a total solar eclipse suddenly want to see the next one), there are two options open to you 1) Wait for the next partial eclipse in 2029 or the next total eclipse in 2044 2) Travel to the next total eclipse which will be over Greenland, Iceland and Spain on August 12th 2026
samhexum Posted April 8, 2024 Posted April 8, 2024 I can't tell you how excited I've been about the eclipse... because there's no word in the English language that describes an amount that small. + WilliamM, wsc, + Vegas_Millennial and 4 others 1 2 1 3

I would have LOVED to seen it during that point. Yesterday was sunny all day too. 😭 + WilliamM 1

+ azdr0710 Posted April 8, 2024 Posted April 8, 2024 I saw the 2017 eclipse at 100% totality under clear skies (Oregon). It's something everybody should see. Absolutely incredible. We were on a mountain top and watched the shadow race toward us from 100 miles away. 2028 in Australia anybody??!! mike carey, Luv2play and SlimJim 3
