Steamworks Berkeley?

Could anyone please contribute any pros / cons about this venue? 

Which days and hours r best?

Friday and Saturday nights are best … 9pm onwards any time through like 4am or so and younger guys come in as the bars close 

pre covid lunchtimes on weekdays was hot with tech and finance guys taking a break from the office but o think that dynamic changed because of work from home etc 

Sunday afternoon  is a different crowd but still busy … older Middle Aged and hot if you’re into that

sometimes they have student specials and the college kids come in but I think it’s not a regular thing so you can check on their website

If that’s your only option I’d say go! These businesses can’t survive if relying only on two nights a week so I’m sure they have traffic at other times, maybe just different crowds

Love this place! When I was visiting out there years ago I went almost every day/night, and had such good times! Still can’t believe there’s no place like this in my city, NYC, sad sad sad! 😢😫😡 ….

I went maybe 10 years ago when on a quick trip … remember it was very well maintained but such places across the country have fallen into such disrepair (eg New York, providence, Philadelphia) … if they’re at all still around. The other place I went in that area (Water Garden in San Jose) I heard couldn’t reopen after covid.

Very clean and modern. One of the nicest bathhouses I have seen in America. The crowd was good, I went on a Saturday night and had a good time but it was not very crowded.

I was in Berkeley and took @NyGold’s advice and went to Steamworks at 1 am on Saturday night. Seriously I was the oldest guy in the place. Most were in their 20s and 30s of all races. It was packed with young attractive guys. I had a blast. When I left at 3:45, guys were still coming in.

Haha it was clearly why there was no one else my age there at that time.  I planned ahead and took a nap earlier in the day.  And once in there I really got a second wind that carried me through the night. I totally crashed at my hotel and slept in on Sunday. Still recovering but worth it.

Was there a few months ago. Had a great time. Went on a Tuesday night, which is college night (all the Berkley boys get a discount). Crowd was younger (which suited me just fine) and it was crowded. I went at about 8pm or so and stayed till after 11. Would def go back.

Agreed. Went there with my bf during Market Days this past weekend and it was on another level. Packed and something for everyone! Not a BH connoisseur or anything (we don't really have em in NYC) but I have to think this place is one of the top spots in the US. Loved it and would def go back.

It was a fun experience BUT I still feel like a bathhouse situation is best explored on your own. There are a % of guys who will be into you - just the way it goes - and it’s an even lower probability of people who will be into you and your bf (unless your both essentially the same type). But it was still a fun bonding experience for us both.

And never go with a group of friends. Back in my younger days a small group of us would get a bit buzzed on wine and pot and then decide that it was a good idea to go to a bathhouse. We had no intent of having sex. We would just wander around, gawking, get into the hot tub and watch the parade of guys, all the while giggling and assuredly talking too loudly for the environment. We had a great time but, in retrospect, it was incredibly rude. Belated blanket apologies to all the guys whose nights we ruined.

It's busy when it's busy but kind of quiet when it's not. In other words, like most bath houses, the Steamworks works is hit and miss.

There were a group of guys who were doing this at SpaWorld in Houston a few weeks back when I was there.

While a K-spa is very different from a bath, the similarity is that silence is golden.

I ended up telling them to (politely) read the room and shut the fuck up.  

Thankfully, it worked.
