Am I the only one who nearly died of shame and embarrassment worrying what the store clerk was thinking of me? I often chickened out and went home empty handed or jacked off in the car and disposed of my contraband immediately.

I used to buy 2 other magazines like Rolling Stone or Sports Illustrated to put on top and bottom of the gay ones I was buying and hand the stack to the cashier.  I guess I hoped they'd keep them in order and no one else would see the surprises in between the 'mainstream' mags!

And they used to keep the gay mags right in the front of the shop on upper shelves so you had to stand right by the door on your tiptoes to get to the good stuff.  The selection they had (this was in a college town in Delaware in the late 80's / early 90's) was impressive though!

You may not have meant it but that comment is racist. It's an old trope of the black person being sexual or seen merely as a sex object.

Your response indicates that you don't know what the word racist means.

There was absolutely NO generalized "trope of the black person being sexual" in pubic_assistance's comment. He cited only his own specific observations about certain individuals — and not about an entire community.

  • There was no "crowd" attacking a poster. One person commented that, "you may not have meant it but that comment is racist".  Hardly an attacking crowd calling someone a racist.
  • The topic relates to "favorite kind of porn"
  • I won't wade into my opinion as to the specifics of what @pubic_assistance may or may not have intended or meant to convey regarding his favorite type of porn yet.
  • Let's be clear eyed however;

The set-up of the comment was establishing that in his "conservative" non-urban background it was something different and eye-opening for him to see "black men and women" in a major city being able to more freely and openly express sexuality. Ok fine.

But what planet are many of you on who do not think that then connecting that to a fantasy film specifically depicting "muscular/masculine black men gang raping a young white person, man or womanwouldn't fundamentally have racially questionable elements?

Does it really actually need to be pointed out that since the beginning of slavery explicitly and for hundreds of years thereafter subconciously in our Country's past there has been an overidding subtext pervasive throughout our culture of needing to protect the innocence, virtue and character of young white people (usually women) from the over-sexed physically dangerous black man?

  • Perhaps overtime the term "gang-rape" has been somewhat appropriated and means something different to posters here than I may naively still define it as?
  •  My recollection of "gang-rape" is that it is a violent, physical, and sexual assault at it's worse as multiple people not only witness but also participate forceably raping someone illegally against their will.
  • And considering this is a gay themed discussion website it seems extra racial by pointing out in this fantasy that it doesn't matter if the person being raped is actually a man or a woman.  (The emphasis is that the person being violated is young and white and the perpetrators are muscular, masculine and black).
  • Regarding intent after re-reading the poster's comment many times in my opinion,  I lean towards thinking it wasn't meant to be a disparaging negative commentary denigrating black men per se, but that does not mean it is wrong to point out that it cannot be divorced from the environment of very real deeply held conscious and subconcious historical racist themes and rhetoric.

Regardless Happy New Year!  I'm back to Football.

Some of us live on this planet called: reality.

People need to stop looking for racism under every rock. It's tiresome.

I will not defend myself with lengthy explanations of my sexual, and dating history but I will say this habit of assuming every white man is a racist is getting completely out of control, and this is a very fine example.

The topic of "Favorite types of porn" can inherently be a taboo subject and many times a reflection or window of culture.

Thanks for helping to further highlight how our deepest held "perceptions" are a very complex multi-dimensional product derived from of our past and present immediate surroundings blended with prevailing overarching greater environmental inputs and factors in our shared society.

There’s a sliding scale to porn.

from

“I’ve done exactly that with that very man, when he was a provider and it was HAF”

to

”I’d love to be in the room with this, it’d be HAF”

to

”I would never!!!! How do they even learn the stretching part? It’s HAF, tho”

to

”if my wife knew this was what I’m into I’m F’d”
