FL arrests 160 johns in week long sting-calls it fight against trafficking

The article doesn't say if they targeted any gay escort sites or not.  Most of it appears to be targeting straight escorts.  That could easily change however.

The sheriff is clearly using these operations as easy publicity going after people the voters in his county will have little sympathy for.  Helping real victims of sex trafficing is a mere justification.  They say they found a few trafficing victims, but a tiny fraction of the people they arrested.  The press conference where the sheriff singles out the people they caught and identifies if they were married or where they worked is definately intended to pander to the voters in that county.

Assuming the cops were posing as escorts of legal age, targeting the guys who respond does nothing to find trafficers or their victims.  Neither does targeting sex workers who are operating independently.

Sadly sex work between consenting adults is illegal in most of the US and law enforcement operations like this keeps the stigma going.  This should be a reminder to know a bit about the jurisidiction before working or hiring there.

the article indicates they found two females who seemed to be victims of human trafficking among the 160 arrests.....with cops apparently acting undercover as prostitutes, I'm wondering how they even found those two!....ostensibly, this was a sting to discourage trafficking, but it sounds like a bass-ackwards way of doing it.......the goal should be to go after the pimps who facilitate trafficking, of course......admittedly, arresting johns and publicizing them could be a way to discourage patronizing hookers in the first place (and thus diminish demand for trafficked females), but arresting no pimps seems like a failed campaign

From the amounts of cash that were cited, $40 and $80 in two cases specifically, we're not talking about RM hookups. Or if we are, how do I get these rates?

I'm not sure you'd get what you'd want for $40-$80...

Comparing U.S. "laws" against prostitution, check out Brazil's open and numerous ads for female and male prostitutes advertising right along with ads for various household goods and other products.  No prudes or hypocrites in Brazil.

What a joke our country turned out to be with respect to prostitution.

As an example of how liberal Brazil is compared to the U.S., the below link is just one of many links openly advertising prostitutes in Brazil:

“allegedly agreed to pay $80 for a brief sexual encounter with an undercover detective, it was reported. “

These are not rates quoted by actual *ex workers, they were quoted by the “fishers” and the cheap price reeled in the “bait”

That said, how disgusting and predictable. Polk County in Florida, I used to live there briefly. Was actually the last county I lived in Florida. I probably only got 1 actual client in the area, but all other times I would go to Orlando, Tampa, etc.

That area is just nasty and trashy to begin with. I don’t even know how these people even got trapped in the first place. But that’s also why I have turned down 2 “invites” to come to Florida this year. I just refuse to go back, unless like in November: it’s a special commercial event that I’m getting paid to attend, and have all accommodations paid. But to go and try to “tour” for clients: absolutely not. Unless I have one booked in advance for an overnight or weekend.

The people in ”leadership/power” in Florida, are just trash. Dirty, filthy, nasty trash lol. And then business there is less than what it should be because half are afraid of getting “stung” by shit like this. It’s the absolute worse.

I hoped we were headed in the right direction with criminal Justice reform, it seems to still be “held up”. If we are going to give so much reverence on national television to the Queen of England, than for fucks sake: at least take into account that she never placed bans on individual sex work.
