Rentment changing site design and private galleries

Rentmen are updating their site design. I've tried the new one and it needs some getting used to. I guess they're trying to be more in line with other dating apps. 

But what I've noticed is that the private galleries, that you could normally ask to unlock, have all been turned into premium galleries. Which means that only by paying for a membership can you view the photos. 

This has always been a feature, except for the fact that those private galleries could still be unlocked for free by the escort. This feature now seems to be removed. Leaving the only option to pay. 

I'm feeling salty about this.

The only thing I like is the continuous scroll instead of pages.  I'm a Premium member so the rest is okay for me.  I'd be mad if I wasn't. 

The people behind RM are just like any other business and driving towards a paid subscription model.

Glad to hear I’m not the only one. I tried the new site and quickly went back to the old - but assume that won’t always be an option.

The thing I don't like, though, is that technically the escorts are their clients and they already pay quite a sum of money to have their profiles on their. It feels greedy. I know that's how today's business goes, but it doesn't sit well with me. It'd be like the Apple store asking an entrance fee just to look at the new phones.

I haven't seen that yet. I suspect they converted all the private galleries to premium by default and the escorts themselves have to change it.

Thanks for that clarification.  I joined premium for the first time last month and I've noticed these changes:

A photo that has been unlocked automatically because of premium membership has a little 'flame' icon in the lower right corner.

A photo that still requires a request of the escort to unlock has a little 'lock' icon.

I'll join the fray.   Hate the new design.   It seems like we might still be able to log on through rentmen.eu and avoid the new design.    Am I just misunderstanding?

I have not tried to the new design even though I subscribe to Rentmen. It seems like a lot of people hate the new version. I’m wondering if anyone has actually complained to Rentmen about it & whether or not it will make a difference. I’m sure they invested a lot of time & money into the upgrade so I doubt they will listen to what anyone has to say. Too bad they don’t devote more time to photo verification.

Well the NEW one doesn't even WORK for me even thou I've the latest Firefox browser.  it ONLY works on Google Chrome for me.  HATE IT.

More and more ..I am noticing that various apps don't work on Firefox. Google is trying to corner the market so that nothing works without them. Which means an eventual plot to make you PAY for these services that you've enjoyed for free all these years

AND OnlyFans also stopped working on Firefox for me, but oc works on Chrome. (and with less capabilities than I had with FFox)

Changes to websites might be well intentioned but designers don’t seem to appreciate the value of familiarity. The text book example is Planet Romeo. The “new” Romeo is now years old but for the life of me I still can’t get used to it.

There's an option in the Buddy's section to sort/search by location.

Hmm, it works on Firefox for me. Are you using a script blocker or other add-on that might cause a conflict?

And I have to say that I like it a lot in comparison to the older designs. I like that when I block someone, I no longer see their ad. It seems easier to navigate too, once you get used to it.

On Android, next to the search Buddys by username, there's a button to toggle between pictures and list, and next to that on the right is a button with three dots which gives the option to search by location.

Maybe Im just an old dog and dont want to learn the new trick,  but I find the new site very glitchy and not a fan of the new page layout.  Hopefully they are working on the glitchy parts before we have no option of using the current version.

It kills me that at this point we can take it for granted that RM are trying to operate like a dating app. Finding an escort is very different from finding a regular hookup or date, and when it's treated the same, both parties end up less satisfied. It wasn't always like this in M4M escorting, and it's still nothing like this in F4M escorting. Imagine an independent female escorting directory modelled after tinder!

I'm sure RM have their reasons, but a part of me wonders if they'll end up shooting themselves in the foot with this. Escorts still pay their bills, and if their experience on the platform gets worse, they won't stick around forever.....
