Rent.Men Reviews are Pointless

A question about Rentmen reviews:

I sometimes click reviewers' profiles to check if I can determine if they have similar tastes to mine and to see if I can read between the lines to decide if they have a consistent profile, how long they have been posting, and ultimately if they are "real" as opposed to inauthentic posters trying to boost ratings.

So sometimes the review I just saw on the provider's page is not listed in the posted reviews list  on the reviewers page.  How does that happen?

This is why I like to communicate before the meetup. Sadly, that’s seen as a waste of time. Somehow advertising something and not delivering on it though isn’t seen as a waste of money.

How true in too many instances.

Lots of providers have an enormous ego that causes them to think their time is more valuable than the time of the person who will be paying them.

Clients are often regarded as "time wasters" because clients want to be sure the merchandise (providers) they are about to "rent" is accurate and really what they want.

Not so much my time. I get that I’m not selling my time or trading it. But I am compensating them for their time. If I want to hire BigDixxxJock to help me make cupcakes, it shouldn’t make a difference if he’s comped for his time. But he won’t know that if I never get the chance to tell him what I’m looking for if he thinks discussing it in advance is a waste of time. When BigDixxxJock shows up and wants to fuck and I want to make cupcakes, it’s a waste of my money because that’s not what I’m paying for. Crass example, but example nonetheless. Particularly if we as the clients are hiring with the expectation of particular things going down during our time together. And don’t get me started on those statements about paying for time only. Come on. We know what this is about.

I agree, while acknowledging that some "clients" are just after free sexting.

After all, anyone who's ever gone on job interviews knows how much time you have to waste...

As a consumer I will always look at the reviewers and see what type of guys they hire. And if they are the type of men I would consider. Often you will see reviews from members who Are obviously fake. Eg No details about the reviewer?  I have had luck getting feedback from prior clients about 50% of the time. Guys who respond are pretty truthful in my experience.

Leomuscle had 44 positive reviews before he scammed me. It wasn’t until I made an alarm here and wrote a true review he abandoned that account and created a new one under the alias ‘thebenefit’. He’s now getting 4/5 star reviews under that. This means he’s rebuilding his reputation to scam others again. Now that you have to be a premium subscriber to submit reviews on RM, it makes the system have less integrity. I hope everyone interested in this hobby visits here first.

@Enronnja, when I first started hiring, I was stupid. I trusted an escort before we met. Paid him a lot of money up front and wrote a review on RM before meeting. I’ve since learned, of course. But the point is that the scams are real. And they’re more common than many want to accept. That’s why I still come back to insisting that a minimal exchange of some substance happen between me and any escort. If he thinks it’s time wasting, he’s losing out on my money. Maybe he can get other money easier, but it’s not going to be mine. Just like escorts will hedge bets to not waste their time, I’m heading bets to not waste my money. I was burnt once and it’s not happening to me again.

I think this is fair. It's a bit of a dance. The client wants to be sure they will have a good experience and the provider wants to minimize time wasters. I imagine it's very difficult to differentiate between genuine clients reaching out to get a feel for the provider, and those who will waste their time. I do think if escort work was legal in the US, it would be easier.

There is a culmination of so many things that have gone wrong with the business. The pandemic certainly threw a huge curveball, the rise of OnlyFans has inflated the value a lot of guys place on their services, there is just more scamming than ever. What I am noticing more is more ‘Tops’, ‘Verse/Tops’. The ones who are now available are those who are not in the OF game, tired and parked in cities such as mine for months are even years. With RM becoming less of a good resource I am likely going to bow out. I rather save my hard earned money.

Feel like some people can judge others better via text than others.  For me it’s simple - I ask a few questions that help me make a decision - if I sense something off I might ask the same question 2x.  Liars don’t remember lies

i agree that the illegality of it is absurd but given recent SCOTUS thing i suppose I shouldn’t be

I can usually tell from the kind of response a potential escort gives if he’s invested, especially young guys. Texting is just part of their world. If he can’t be bothered to put together some semblance of a coherent thought in a text, he probably isn’t that invested in making sure he delivers on his promises either. “Hey” in response to a hello and a question doesn’t bode well for the ongoing interaction. Better to just move on if you don’t get much of a response. I have to wonder how any of those types make any money doing this. But I guess it must happen for them somehow…Maybe they have something through SA or some other sugar daddies.

I have hired a few highly-reviewed people who have been a complete waste of time.  A couple of them have tried to solicit reviews, so I suspect that is how they drive the numbers up.  Bad reviews tend to disappear.  Even I will no longer leave bad reviews after receiving threats from 2 of the 4 people I gave a bad review.  The threats were stupid and irrelevant, but I don't see the point in stirring up trouble just to slap a bad provider with a bad review.  I doubt I'm alone in this.

Beyond reading the actual text descriptions, do you find any value in RM reviews at all?

Contact the Moderators of RentMen and report your issue.  Perhaps your valid concern would be personally addressed.

I, as a Premium Member of RentMen, have found the reviews to be helpful, especially when I've personally contacted some of the reviewers requesting some narrative about the man/men they've reviewed.  In most cases they've responded back via Chat, and their reviewed men gave me a stellar time.

But do remember that "EVERYONE's" experience might not be as yours and vice versa.  I write this because my hot "go-to-guy" received his first two reviews from me.  His client base increased, and on two occasions, two of his future clients wrote to me prior to their seeing him.  Afterwards, one of the two men wrote back and cited that his experience was not completely as the one that mirrored mine, but overall it was not all for naught.

Yes, I like the RM Reviews especially when I can obtain some sort of narrative either from previous clients (the reviewers) or from the narratives that are on VPN or whatever the system is named.  Prior to my obtaining a new computer, I had access on my previous iMac desktop.  Unfortunately, I was unable to transfer data from it onto my new one.

PART 1 of 2

Some of my patrons regularly entrust me with procuring additional talent. Here's my two cents.

If I'm violating any rules, please inform me and I'll simply delete this. I don't wish to hi-jack the conversation.

REVIEWS:

For those of you who aren't aware, you can view the reviewers' profiles. Simply click on their usernames. You may have to do some scrolling to find it, but every profile on RM publicly lists the date that it was created. Make judgements accordingly.

Clients can choose to display some, all or none of the reviews that they've given on their profiles.

Some clients are comfortable discussing explicit details with others, most aren't. Remember—the members of this forum constitute a fraction of the overall market. Most of my clients weren't even aware of its existence, until I shared it with them.

Occasionally, reviewers will leave comments to the webmaster, when submitting a review. In sex-worker-friendly countries, those comments are published. In non-sex-worker-friendly countries, those comments are hidden. To read those comments, log in to a VPN and connect to the Netherlands or any other sex-worker-friendly country. I use ProtonVPN, but there's dozens to choose from.

- - - - -

A client may review a provider only for in-person meetings and pre-paid services. Reviews given for any other reason are subject to removal.

When submitting a negative review, it's imperative that you remain concise and objective. Do not direct your frustrations towards the webmaster, or bombard them with a novel. If the client is emotional and irrational and the provider is calm and collected, the webmaster will be inclined to side with the provider.

If you have relevant photos, screenshots and/or documents, send them to the webmaster via RM Messenger after submitting your review.

PART 2 OF 2

(Again, if this is considered "off-topic," kindly inform me and I'll delete it.)

PRESENTATION:

In addition to analyzing reviews, I always analyze a provider's ad in its entirety.

I begin by zooming in to their photos and analyzing the details. If they have an interview, I read it. If they have social media, I analyze that too. The entire time I'm doing this, I'm judging them. Are they here because they want to be here? How intelligent are they? Do they have health and hygiene standards? Do they have boundaries? How much effort have they put into all of this? Do they appear to have at least basic morals/values?

— — — — —

COMMUNICATION:

Now that you've completed your research, it's time to initiate contact. First, let's put ourselves in their shoes.

Many providers, myself included, receive hundreds of spam messages per day. Bots, trolls, flakes, harassers, stalkers, con artists, LEOs attempting to entrap them, other providers “booking them up” so they won’t have any availability… They have to deal with just as much, if not considerably more, nonsense as you do.

If you want a non-desperate provider to respect you, then you have to respect them too. If you treat them like merchandise, they're going to treat you like an ATM.

- - - - -

Rather than:

hey/hi/sup/how are you/you available

–or–

How much do you charge for [insert any sex act here]?

Try something along the lines of:

Hi there. My name's [insert name/alias]. I found your number on RM.

I enjoy [insert preferences/activities here].

I found your profile intriguing, so I figured I'd reach out. If you'd like to connect, I'd be more than happy to gift you a donation for your time. Just let me know how much you'd like for X hour(s)/day(s), and we'll go from there. Thanks.

— — — — —

CLOSING:

There'll always be risk in this industry—for both of us. Clients will lose money and providers will lose time. Some will lose both. All we can do is figure out where our limits are, do our research and treat people how we want to be treated.

If the majority behaves professionally and respectfully, regardless of how others behave, it'll become the new standard.

I'm hungry and lost my train of thought. Happy 4th, everyone!

I know  you said you were stupid but writing a review before you even met him was unethical and deceptive. You lost any credibility by admitting that.

I just had an overnight with a provider I first contacted a year ago. Nothing came of our brief conversation at that time but when he appeared in my area on his RM ad I contacted him. We had a great exchange of info about ourselves and I felt confident in going ahead with inviting him to my home.

I had read all his reviews which were very positive and other info including a blog site he has. Well the short of it is that he more than lived up to my expectations and we had a great time. He even helped me make a delicious breakfast!

My therapist always says, “Disregard everything before the but.” If you read further, you’ll see that I won’t do that again. That was years ago, as I said, and when I was new to all this. So before you impugn “any credibility,” you might take that into consideration. Furthermore I’m of the mindset that the reviews are pointless anyhow, so I’m not writing anymore anyhow. The fact the guy asked me to write a review before meeting suggests that he’d had others do the same in the past. I’m likewise sure that guys, particularly the scammers, do such things all the time and naive or desperate men fall for it. Caveat emptor.

As noted upthread, the only clients that can post a review to a rentmen providers' advertisement is a paying rentmen client.

Because of that new rule, I see an immediate overall devaluation of the meaningfulness of reviews posted.

I have several friends who hire from rentmen but they are not paying customers of rentmen.  My friends have posted many useful reviews over the years.  Obviously, they will not be submitting future reviews because of the new rentmen rule to accept reviews only from paying rentmen clients.

I also use rentmen and I am not a paying customer of rentmen and I have, in the past, posted honest reviews of providers.   My reviews will no longer be accepted unless I pay rentmen for the review feature.

It is obvious that because of the new rentmen rule, a lot fewer reviews will be posted in the future to providers accounts.

Non "premium rentmen" clients who have a good experience with a provider cannot write a review.   Likewise, non "premium rentmen" clients who have a terrible experience with a provider cannot post a warning review.

There is no question that the value of rentmen reviews have lost a great amount of value by not allowing all actual renters of providers to post a review simply because the client does not pay rentmen a fee.

I would think the providers would complain to rentmen about the new rule.

I am glad for the new rule as it makes it harder for providers to create accounts for bogus reviews.

as much as I pay providers, the cost of RM is very reasonable.

I favor the new rule that only premium clients, such as I am, can contribute reviews to enhance the hiring experience. By paying a fee we are showing our commitment to maintaining the standards of the organization.

While some non premium clients may be of the same best intentions, others may be trying to undermine the system. After all they have no skin in the game. I would rather not hear their voices frankly.

Another point I would make is that while there are no stats to support it, I think the fee paying clients of Rentmen probably hire more providers on RM than non premium members. As such they are in a better position to make comparisons and offer better assessments in their reviews.

One thing I discount is reviews by clients who are inexperienced at hiring.
