Adam4Adam suspended my profile, should I bother returning?

As some may know, A4A has a section for providers…but it’s limited to “massage” only. I’ve advertised there for years, but my current profile I’ve had since about 2018.

Recently, my pro membership expired…but I had forgotten that I needed to renew. So, the other night I logged in and seen lots of responses. I sent my template out with my service as I usually do, but apparently it must have been to guys who seen my profile in the non-pro state, and I must have got reported. I received an email saying I’ve been suspended for “illegal activity”.

I wrote to them that I wasn’t thrilled about it, considering I’ve been a supporting member for at least 3 years. Also didn’t imply anything illegal, but I guess they felt differently. As much as I find use for the site, I also feel being on there is a waste of time. I may get a single client over the course of an entire “tour” (that’s visiting cities over a week or 2). But most times, it’s just people wasting time and BSing. I even got a separate number for that site, to keep track of when I receive texts and to also not display my main ad number, as there’s more often than not, trolls that be on the site.

But for the most part: nearly every city I visit, I seldom get bookings from A4A. Despite it only being $30 and likely to be made back, sometimes it’s more of the mental cost involved that isn’t worth it. It’s similar to how backpage, HourBoy and Craigslist were: sure you’d get some clients, but at the end of the day: what is it to only get 1 or 2 bookings over the course of a month? That said: I did meet a pretty good client from it couple weeks ago. That’s what makes me continue to post on it for many years. But when the site is catering to tattle tells instead of making it a useful platform, that’s where I really doubt continuing to support it.

Well, I reached back out to them again and broke it down. I told them that just because I send a message that discusses sessions, non of it is verbatim “illegal sex for money”. They’re simply buying in to what some bum  with a free profile getting mad, because they hit me up and I told them I’m for pay.

They agreed to reinstate my profile, but going forward I’m making sure every person who contacts, texts me 1st before I send  any info on rates going forward.

If they suspended your profile, I don’t think you should.

Well, like I said: it was most likely due to some tattle tell on the site who reported my profile after messaging me and receiving a pre-written template of my donations. But like I said, any other time since 2018 that has not been an issue. I think someone got mad after my ad had expired for a day and reported me, and perhaps A4A thought I was trying to earn biz without paying for the ad.

They have agreed to reinstate it tomorrow though. I do have a couple of clients who’ve reached out wondering what happened.

Move on... RM rules, Adam4Adam is a waste of time.

Why someone would go to a hookup website to hire someone?

Well…I can tell you just the other week when I was in an area of Florida that is very under-served by providers, a client did book me from there. I personally been using it on and off for many years and it has its place. Sometimes it’s necessary to tap into that “unintended market”.

Even though RentMen is top of line, reality is…it’s not really even giving me all that much “more” business than even adam4adam. I’ve had this discussion before.

And truth be told: RentMen has become a little more than a high end hookup site. That’s why I don’t bother unlocking private pics anymore, and took down most of my videos. I see people from Grindr, hitting me up cruising RM, knowing damn well they’re not paying anybody. Just voyeuring around.

I also use A4A because majority of the other escort and massage sites don’t really work in very small markets. For example: Overland Park Kansas which is a sleepy suburb yet business hub of Kansas City has like no providers that list on either RM site. A4A on the other hand has about 50-60 members in the area.

But for the most part, A4A continues to underperform more and more each year, as far as getting bookings. I pretty much just have a pre template set up and send it out. All the round the clock chit chat, I stopped doing way back last year.

I've recently had this happen. I go to login and I get the message user suspended. I try to contact them to find out why but never hear back from them.

As a Pro or a Buyer?

That said, since then I’ve put my profile back up…However it’s not been serving its use much in my current market. Few even contact via the number in profile and 9/10 are flakes and phonies anyway. Used it recently in a nearby state and seemed like I was going to get 3 appointments: non of them came thru. Plus, it’s nothing new but: many the ones on there don’t have a sense of price and often want to offer some lowball amount.

I’m hanging into it for visibility but, I’ve found a different site megapersonals…which is just as quirky and 🤦🏾‍♂️ as Adam but: at least it’s free. Paying $30 a month just to deal with nonsense, is starting to be too much…

A prudent decision.   A 4 A  is good for exposure,  but I think the volume of quality client prospects there is much more limited.     You are established and successful

(and a review of all marketing expenses and their return)  so I'd move on and focus on new potential marketing ideas and how effective they may be.    They may have just done you a favor.

Do you get good business from that site? If the answer is no, then don't bother. Maybe a free account just for presence.

@Jarrod_Uncut inspired me to try A4A earlier this year. I wondered if there was any decent business in it. Figured if I got one client the whole year, it would pay for itself. Turns out, I made my annual subscription back many, many times over. Including a regular who sees me about once every two weeks. For me at least, it was a sound investment.

Sure, it’s not the greatest platform or my most profitable or as versatile as the others. It’s designed primarily for hookups and dating, but they organize it in such a way that makes it easy to find Pros offering services. Since fewer advertisers are present, the few would-be clients who are looking for guys like me find me and hire without a fuss.

I actually really like A4A. I don’t spend much time on it and it brings me business. The “Pro” ads are clearly labeled as such, so people don’t contact me unless they are inquiring about rates or services. Once in a while someone doesn’t read anything on the ad, even the big “Pro” symbol plastered all over it. I gently indicate in my first reply that I’m a masseur and my ad is a Pro ad and ask if they are interested in hiring me. That’s enough to send them politely on their way and they don’t bother me. A few times, someone who wasn’t initially looking to hire any services paused to consider hiring me anyway and then they actually did!

Maybe it’s white privelege. I don’t know. Honestly I think it’s the market Jarrod is in. I do fine, even when I travel to smaller markets in the south. On tour earlier this year a few guys hit me up for business on A4A in their city. Maybe it’s luck. Whatever it is, it seems to work well for me, so I will continue to leverage this marketing tool as long as it makes business sense.

The other night, a client started abusing RentMasseur emails as a tool to jerk off and indulge his fantasy with me and get some free sexting time. He wasn’t serious about hiring and he was clever about keeping me engaged regarding hiring me just enough to keep going. When that became clear, I said he can hire me for phone sex or sexting at xxx rate, but that I would not be communicating anymore unless it was to confirm the details of a real in person appointment he intends to keep. His communication thankfully stopped without having to block or escalate things.

I can see this kind of thing happening on A4A, but contrary to my expectations, it has yet to happen to me. I get the bullshit texts and messages on other platforms, but never so far on A4A. Only one client I had to turn down because he was a psycho intent on hurting me in his potential session. Everyone else has been great. Lots of asking for rates, as expected. I get a comparably high booking to inquiries ratio. Maybe 40-50% of inquiries eventually lead to bookings. Not a lot of time wasted. Quite the opposite of Jarrod’s experience.

A4A push notifications actually work, which helps a lot. RentMen Messenger won’t alert me no matter how many times I set the alerts to do so. RM Messenger is a total crapshoot. Unless I open the app every hour, I don’t see messages. Just text me. Burner number or whatever I don’t care, at least I will see the message and respond in a timely manner that way.

I had one A4A client who hired me for escort service in Dallas. He paid my rate for an outcall and all went well. Then a day or two later he started demanding that I meet with him for free, for meals, for sex, whatever. I had to tell him very directly what the boundaries are and that he can hire my time, but that I wasn’t on A4A for personal friendships or dating. He had hired others before, and he has a husband too, which puzzled me all the more. I had to block him it got so bad. He was harassing me and threatening me, first on the app and then by text. Crazy.

That’s the one really bad experience so far where I think the lines between hookup app and hiring were blurred, at least in the client’s mind. Everyone else gets it. You pay x for y. That’s the arrangement. No hookup app dynamics nonsense. At least for some, the platform is a problem. By and large, it’s not.

I’ve had my Pro Ad on Adam4Adam since 2008. It used to be really good for business back in the day until it seemed to slow down around 2016. I still keep it active because it’s very affordable. I pay the yearly fee of $250, so one massage pays for the entire year of advertising on the site. Even though there is a Pro logo some people don’t seem to notice it, or they just don’t care and message me a non massage related message. I politely tell them “my profile here is a Pro Ad for massage services and I’m only here for work.” I wish the desktop version looked like the app version. You are also not allowed to have a racy profile photo on the app version which I think is pretty silly. The wording is also different in the desktop add and the app version, something I think the site should improve. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Thanks for your review. I feel the same, seems around 2016 (when P.T. signed the Bill regarding anti trafficking), things came to a significant slowdown.

I’m not a fan of the app version. It’s heavily edited, and I often have to think of clever ways to say what I’m doing…because they won’t even allow pro members to talk about services on the app.

Just seeing this…but answer is: it depends on where. I think I’ve mentioned at times on the forum, some cities Adam 4 Adam were the only site I got clients from during a particular visit…

That’s great that you found it to be of benefit! I’m happy that you did, I would like more people to continue to use and support A4A…but of the quality kind. It did for awhile get a rep for being sketchy for hiring but, they used to charge $10 a month versus $30…and when that happened a lot of the riff raff left. Then they updated their platform (another thing that caused the site to slow down significantly, and especially since they changed advertising in specific neighborhoods to advertising in a “county” of a city) so when traveling I often have to Google what county is such and such in.

But no, I don’t think it’s White privilege solely lol (as I said in another thread, and that was pertaining to a different subject). I still get good hits from there, heck earlier this year I was hired by someone who’s connected in the porn industry, I’m on their radar to be doing a shoot in the near future. And yes I do think it’s very location dependent. I’ve used A4A all over including Dallas and others. I found it used to work best in smaller western and midwest towns that had relatively few providers of “color” advertising. Milwaukee, Knoxville, Omaha, El Paso, even my first trip to San Francisco was a good place to use it.

It’s just changed a bit due to the influx of the apps and A4A not allowing rates. But the opportunity is still there.
