I can’t recall negotiations ever commencing mid-massage. If the masseur goes beyond my expectations, especially if they were marketing themselves as therapeutic, I add extra at the end. If the “extra” wasn’t enough, then they’ll let you know at the next session by being less accommodating. Haha.

I would argue that self care is not pissing away money. And a nice massage, therapeutic or more, with a professional may encourage a different perspective on your body/self esteem - apologies for making speculations but just by the tone of your message, I bet a massage would help in more ways than you may imagine.

I'm guessing three things could happen:

• The masseur is not looking to do anything beyond an erotic massage, so he declined,
  
• He accepted but for a new rate/price, or
  
• He accepted while not changing the rate (because he was just horny as well).

I always feel that if it happens naturally (good) I just adjust the payment to meet what happened. I know the therapist appreciates it. I do not always like the upswell either and turn it down often, but when it just seems natural, I always adjust the fee accordingly to the going rate. It then happens again which is perfect.

I think discussing charges for “extras” during the massage is awkward. I don’t charge for anything extra, it’s all included in my standard massage rate (which Isn’t cheap) except for me bottoming and if they want that it has to be agreed before the massage, and the rate for that is extra.

 

Because there’s no extra charge or any cause to discuss the charge during the massage it can proceed naturally, uninterrupted and it feels less transactional for the client.

 

I once had a spa massage where the masseur tried to upsell to me during the massage. I’d already paid for the massage at the spa desk.
