"They cut down all the trees and put them in a museum".

Quick digression, apologies to the OP.

That's literally true. President Eisenhower, known for his frequent golfing trips to the Augusta National Golf Club, hit a certain pine tree on the 17th hole so often he said he thought it should be in his future museum. In 2015 that became a reality when a cross-section of the tree was encased at the Eisenhower Museum in Abiline, Kansas. The Eisenhower Tree had been cut down in 2014 after suffering extensive damage during a major ice storm.

This article mentioned receiving wire transfers from clients and another mentioned him operating at least one shell company. It sounds like he was laundering clients' money.

Plot twist:

He pissed off his accountant,

or someone connected to his tax declaration process.

Then $300K+ were suddenly reported to the IRS.

Never piss off the accountant or the IT guy. Nothing good ever comes from that.

Sorry if this has been reported about before. I searched but could not find anything. At any rate, a Florida escort pleaded guilty to charges of failing to report all his income for the years 2015-18. He accept responsibility for his actions and agreed to work with federal authorities in an ongoing investigation into the Florida escort industry. He was sentenced to 21 months in prison and agreed to repay the IRS what he had failed to pay.

Will they offer him naming names in exchange for a lesser sentence?

I'm asking for a friend...

I’ve seen personal trainers led out of the gym in chains by the IRS.

It happens.

Report at least more than 1/2 of your income boys, and keep good records to support writing off the other 1/2.

They don’t care how you earn your money. They care that you pay taxes on it.

As my accountant says, “the bears make money, the bulls make money.....and the pigs get slaughtered”.

Exactly! Let's remember Al Capone going to jail for tax evasion.

I think in this case he pissed off someone and got reported.

Dear Uncle Sam has sure taken his (Big) share. I enjoy benefits from my paid taxes, so I’ll pay my fair share. Yes I pay a mortgage so only an idiot would understate or report zero. It’s truly a game of risk if you’re wanting to play chicken with the IRS. I recall the Capone case all the time. Ironically enough I’m visiting Vegas soon and will go to the Mob Museum. I’m sure they’ll have a ton involving Capone.

My home town of River Forest, Illinois, was home to Tony Accardo, said to be Capone’s #2 man. The house was beyond iutrageous: besides the indoor pool, therevwa# at least one bathroom with an onyx tub and gold fixtures. The Junior High was a couple of blocks away.

On Chicago avenue, not far from Big Tuna’s house, was a Glass case with a figure, life-size, of the Madonna. She was always dressed in the appropriate Liturgical color of the season. She was affectionately know locally as “Madonna a Go-go, a Go-go”,.

Greater Chicagoland was such a weird place to grow up.

That's interesting/concerning. As some have hinted at on here, maybe the real reason he was targeted was because of his knowledge in the Florida escort industry. There are some big time politicians that have already been caught up with Florida's finest (Andrew Gillum). Maybe this is really about getting to some other power players. Hopefully others don't get caught up in this too. I might be pretty cautious about hiring in the sunshine state for a bit.

Escorts aren't their target. They don't care about us as long as we pay our due.

Drugs, laundering, etc... Those are targets.

As others have said here, this is bigger than escorting. This guy probably had his hand in multiple cookie jars.
