The idea that it not being curable or having a vaccine yet is evidence of some conspiracy requires believing THOUSANDS of people at various independent research facilities worldwide have all been actively suppressing this cure or vaccine, and that simply makes zero sense whatsoever. Someone would have leaked it out by now.

Yes, but Agent Orange was never intended to be used against American citizens. There is a difference between a government experiment that has unintended consequences and one that is intended to harm the government's own citizens, as your scenario posits for AIDS.

Your argument(s) present some possibilities, but I stand by my suspicions. The infecting of gay communities failed in its overall political intent because the bisexual and needle-sharing communities were not factored into the possible consequences, which unleashed AIDS throughout, much like the regrets of Agent Orange.

Remember how Agent Orange backfired?

How did it backfire? Please tell us. "Backfire" assumes unforseen consequences Veterans who served in Vietnam no longer have to prove they contacted serious diseases. Only proof of the disease and service in Vietnam for very significant VA benefits

Whose "political intent" are you referencing? You are suggesting something that happened during the Carter administration, which was not notably anti-gay.

Your “suspicions” give Qanon a run for their conspiracy money...

Wow! Doesn't that just make everything okay!

Of course, not. But it significantly silences most conspiracy minded person, but clearly not all as your posts indicate

Your naivete gives Trump supporters a run for their gullibility money. :D

You got that right!

Sure.

My friend Dennis is a Vietnam veteran who lives South of San Francisco. He spends many hours a week helping Black and brown veterans fill out paperwork for VA benefits, especially agent orange. And he doesn't charge a fee

Before you make a complete fool of yourself, do a bit of research on VA benefits for military personnel with agent Orange. The benefits are quite good.

After having made a complete fool of yourself I remind you the issue is Agent Orange not the residual military benefits resulting from the lack of forethought.

The benefits show the United States recognized the very serious problems that occurred as a result of agent orange.

Your abilities to think through problems is usually excellent, and I almost always support you here. But on agent orange, I have much more experience than you And I am willing to speak up. You are way off base.

We are on the same page in acknowledging that the U.S. Government recognized the very serious problems that occurred as a result of agent orange.

It is not my intention to lay fault or blame upon those who seek to find and defend the better angels within the U.S. Government. I believe the U.S. Government with its blend of democracy to be the best on the planet, with the caveat that every government has its demons, usually in intelligence and defense (the deep pockets).

My point is that I am certain that the U.S. Government also recognized the very serious problems that occurred as a result of the AIDS pogrom, but there was no acknowledgement, as there was for agent orange.

There is no schedule for an attack of conscience, and if/when it happens, I'll give you the Debbie Reynolds (Will and Grace "Told you so").

In deference to recent postings "suggesting" that I have belabored my point(s), I will conclude my commentary on my theory of the government AIDS infection pogrom with my above thoughts.

Please continue the discussion. I don't agree with you completely here, but you have often demonstrated your value to this forum

Some people will continue to believe a conspiracy theory about AIDS for the same reason that some Trump supporters will continue to believe the election was "stolen." Even though they have no evidence, and can't give credible explanations of who did it or how it was done, it just feels right to them, because it fits their preconceived suspicions about vague forces like "government scientists" or "socialists." Religious beliefs often have the same effect: when a natural calamity occurs, it must be that "Satan" wants to torture the innocent, or "God" is punishing sinners. It seems to be an inherent factor in human psychology.

Is anyone old enough to go back down memory lane and remember the Hepatitis “vaccine study”, for gays in the 1970s?

https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/politics/1987/02/01/map-of-aids-deadly-march-evolves-from-hepatitis-study/47cd206c-c8d9-4082-896f-a075e53bd221/

I participated in that study. If I were a conspiracy theorist I might have suggested that that is when they infected gay men. It was a pretty big study.
