Back a long time ago, go-go boys wore t-backs. And shaved all the way up to the tanline. And made sure their hair looked great.

From pictures I've seen lately, they're wearing just their underwear. And it looks like they showed up at the place, yawned, and said "I guess it's time to go to work" and took off their pants, wearing what they always wear. Then, they slouched out to their boy box.

"You know, when I was a kid, 'go-go boy' used to MEAN something...."

So true @friendofsheila. Where has the go-go boy work ethic gone?

Nowadays they’re not professional. Only a few years back, go-go boys took pride in their appearance and presented the goods well.

For many, there was a career path from go-go boy to occasional escort to professional companion, and finally to toyboy for an older man. Now there‘s so little career planning.

Around the time scraggly beards and overdone hideous tattoos became commonplace, hygiene standards kind of went out the window. They don't seem to grasp why the clean-cut freshly showered guys make so much more money than they do.

I blame the go-go unions.

They had a weak renegotiation agreement and this furlough isn't helping.

I understand Eric Trump's membership in the Go-Go Boys Union was rejected.

Y’all sound like Trumpers....”Make Go-Go Boys Great Again” ? ??

Changing demographics in our electorate means changing demographics for the boys y’all chase after ? Some of your ‘gems’ may stick around, but for how long....

I doubt @friendofsheila is making any ethnic comments about the new demographics of go-go boys...

DC Chandler used to do it in one of the bars in SW DC on average in early 2000s he was making 150-200 a night. He could have made more escorting (which he occasionally did) but didn't have the stomach to do it and would screen his clients...

Let's face it, it's a job that won't give much unless you do private shows for a $20 and do as many guys as possible Friday and Saturday.

I won't excuse alleged laziness whatever that means, I'm just saying waiting tables might be more profitable.

When I first read the name of the thread I thought it was about go-go boys checking their iPhones on stage. ? ???

When I said “changing electorate” I meant more than just ethnicity....I’m talking style, perspective, as well as fashion (not that I agree with our newer generation’s tendency toward casual wear, but still....).

Got it!

You can see that in porno too!

No more (or unusual not expected) perfect tanning line, clean-cut, shaved/waxed chest and butthole, etc. and let's don't forget all the tattoos most guys have now. I know escorts who advertise as "no tattoos" !

Why not just escorting and making good $ instead of dancing for a buck every now and then?

Where have the go-go guys gone? I haven't seen one this year.

I’d also agree with this. With the acceptance of gay marriage, and gentrification of gayborhoods, this means less gay bars in general and less gogo boys.

dallas used to have tin room, bjs/crews inn, zippers, and tmc for dancers, with s4 and roundup offering them occasionally. Now it’s down to tin room and tmc really. Atlanta has BJ roosters and swinging Richards.

not to mention some gay men are generally uncomfortable with gogo boys in general.

its slowly becoming a thing of the past.

One of the reasons I've wanted to move to LA is all of the gogo boys, who will hopefully come back after we get a vaccine and control of the pandemic. Any gay man who doesn't like gogo boys has a medical issue and should see his doctor.

I‘m guessing the plethora of online venues from pornhub to OnlyFans to instagram, etc. also has taken a toll on the go-go boy market.

While not “go go” boys, the Strippers at The Gaiety could make over $10,000 for the week. It was hard work (pun not intended) but very lucrative. I knew dancers who made as much as $15,000 for the week plus sometimes “gifts”.

Is OnlyFans really going to last though? Once it becomes saturated and they all have to drop their prices I think some will be motivated to "get out there" again. I think right now it's still the gold rush and it's going to crash.

Good question!

Capitalism in action, constructive and destructive forces.

If you can't beat them join them, that's what I would tell porn studios like men.com but if they're still around is because it's worth it.

I don't know if it's medical but around gogo boys I get too uncomfortable to be of any use. It's the same at Moroccan restaurants, as soon as the Belly Dancer comes out I immediately excuse myself again to the bathroom to avoid her. Part of it is a general discomfort with dancing, but also it's specific to the type of dancing that Go Go Dancers and Belly Dancers do, I can't get away fast enough.

Wow, my threads go screaming in directions I can never predict. I start with aesthetics, and it heads off into politics, economics and personal discomforts.
