from an article or two I've read on this, OF seems pressured by banks who, I think, are in turn being pressured by conservative/religious groups for handling the billing for adult-oriented websites......

we need to wait and see what happens....this might?? only be a show by OF to demonstrate they're trying to obey.......

pornhub and the old rentboy were the most recognizable names in their genres and were targeted, but other similar/smaller websites still survive......perhaps OF is in the same straits and sites like JFF will emerge as the survivors

I smell the end of OnlyFans as we know it.
P.S. https://justfor.fans/home is much better site anyway.

Now providers won’t be pestering me to join their OF channels.

There will always be alternatives to OF. JFF is another, but there are like 5 more.

And how will all those other guys who are ‘famous for being muscled and almost-naked’ find employment?

OF is banning porn but not nudity. I wonder if they will ban erections?

Remember Tumblr?

One nice thing is that JFF makes it easier to preview a guy's content and get an idea

Yes, with the difference that OF already got some positioning in the market and they will still allow nudity. And yes, I LOVE the previews on JFF.

why do they need "institutional investors?"  They are supposedly on a path to gross $12.5 billion next year.

They want to make more than that and I think they also want to go public so "a good reputation" is also being considered a factor among their goals.

What could you possibly subscribe to on OF if not for sexual content?  Watch someone play the piano?  Plumbing demonstration?  Bad call OF!

Tumblr has quite a bit of the same adult content that it had before its death knell in abandoning the stuff for adults. Is OF crying Uncle to appease the Christianists?

It’s time for a two-tiered internet. one that knows whether or not you are 18+, and one that doesn’t care.

Fuckin’ kids ruin everything.

(Actually it’s bad parenting of kids..) But it’s still fuckin’ kids. Tired of having to bend my life for a group of stupid non-voters that shouldn’t be heard. Time for electro-shock keyboards for teens if they’re on the internet for more than 10 min…
And BTW there is NOT A THING depicted on OF, JFF or 4MF that hasn’t already been available to minors (and their hypocritical over-protective prudes) on many platforms with a google search. I mean, I had access to Playboy magazines at age 10, and it has not in the least made me a pussy hound. image.gif.48bebfd693d5e87f7a631ffdf9ae1a91.gif

OnlyFans is based in the UK.  JustForFans seems to be based in Florida, USA.

Maybe there will be an European company, just like Rentmen, that doesn't give a fuck about generating massive income or going public who will take charge? Pornhub is Canadian and already has the infrastructure of a video platform by subscription, and a strong position in market but has been already bothered by the moralists in the US.

Yep. Sex workers made OF and OF would be nothin without them.

their statement is a full 180:

Thank you to everyone for making your voices heard. We have secured assurances necessary to support our diverse creator community and have suspended the planned October 1 policy change. OnlyFans stands for inclusion and we will continue to provide a home for all creators.

What are the others? I know of JFF of course, and I just came across Fansly.

You can google them. I recall Fancentro and AVN-something, but there are (will always be) more. Porn is a big business. Pornhub, Xvideos and similar websites are amongst the most visited in the world, competing in traffic with mainstream sites like Facebook and Amazon.

I'm skeptical about this whole episode.  OF management knows very well what their product is and who their customers are.  It's ridiculous to think they didn't expect a major backlash from their creator and client base.  And the underlying issues around selling porn are not resolved.  Whatever they are.

I think the founders and VC funders of the site are looking for a giant payout by selling to a media conglomerate, as has been enjoyed by many successful platform creators, even when the platform itself then went to hell.  (Tumblr anyone?)  If this wasn't just a publicity stunt, I expect OF will "tame" the content in small gradual increments rather than all at once, but I do believe the anything-goes days will be receding.

Pretty much the general consensus.
