My main problem is that I have an expectation of privacy. To use RM instant messenger I have to divulge an email address, Then create an account, and then login to that account to send a message.

Previous experience shows that RM and their clients monitor RM's users. TMI for my tastes. As long as I could be anonymous, I was fine but now I'm having to reevaluate.

This is a lose-lose all the way around as far as I can tell.

I f’n hate the RM messenger. The amount of messages I’m getting treating the site like Grindr has gone up tenfold. But seriously, you should NEVER do advertising and communications on the same platform. Talk about a ticking time bomb.

It seems awkward. I wonder what made them change it to this; and whether complaints can make them revert back to having email.

I always preferred to email a potential provider first before texting

So now I am even more hesitant about considering anyone new

Me as well. I just tried it and it seemed to work. I was already signed up as a free user and was using the email system. When I clicked on messenger link it connected me to a chat-like messenger box. Not sure what the consequences will be but was able to chat/email back on forth with the provider even tho he wasn't online at the time. He was even able to send pics via messenger.

I‘d guess that the strategy was to attempt to more tightly couple escorts with clients on their platform (where there’s more eyeballs on advertisements more frequently). Theoretically they are expanding the scope from a simple static advertisement presentation service... which is pretty much a commodity service (Friendboy, Mintboys, etc)... to a resident app that is more interactive and financially “sticky”.

The problem is that with the left hand they are encouraging back and forth messaging a’la Instagram and with their right hand they are censoring what can be said (due to legal requirements but handled pretty sloppily.).

So you’re left with messy, sticky hands.

So I've signed up and tried it, funny what you'll do when you're horny. It's really not bad and it removes the risk of any responses getting flagged as spam and such. But I've messaged four providers and only gotten two responses. I think it only works if they log into the site often or have the app, curious to know what providers think. Biggest disappointment, JasMorgan, ignored two messages even after stating a willingness to travel to him. I guess that's the downside, before I would have assumed he never got my emails now I know he's been on the site and ignoring my messages.

And the only two who responded, messaged back with less than a sentence each time. Ugh.

I hate RM messenger. The influx of messages from people from around the world that are never going to book and send nonsense messages has more than tripled. Just text or call my cell if you want to meet up. RM messenger is a disaster.

That's sad to hear, it's not Grindr lol. May be why several providers haven't responded back to me when they know I'm local and serious. If I get back to Nashville soon I'll text you :-)

That's what it would seem like to me. Emails in their old system-seemed to me less pushy and less intrusive.

They definitely kept the email system. They still use it to notify premium clients that their monthly charge has been approved.

And if you request a provider's private pics that's how you're notified. If you're serious about hiring a person and they have private pics that's one backdoor way (no pun) of still contacting them via mail.

Same experience with me with Gabrieldrake. Sent him two messages and he's only 45 minutes from me and I know a place in Ann Arbor where I can host. Read both and didn't respond (he doesn't provide a phone number).

I really wish Rentmen had a place to indicate where escorts didn't respond to messages so I wouldn't waste my time.

Did guys also send a text? I think is not only the best way to reach someone (most of the time) but the only way escorts make plans.

Technically, you can still email through RM, but what the odds could be still that the recipient reads it and responds...?‍♂️

For example, my ad is rent.men/mattanthony

So my email there is mattanthony@rent.men

Email that address and it gets sent to my RM "archive" email tab.

Yeah I definitely have gotten e-mails from a few guys. Usually regulars who continue to communicate with me that way, but recently a new guy sent me some pictures through there. Maybe it's easier to do it through e-mail, I don't know.
