Driving around this morning and my mind was wandering, as it does. The 'glove box'. Really? More likely the 'insurance paper drawer.' Or 'sunglasses drawer.'

 

You have any 'names that don't make much sense anymore because they just aren't used that way anymore'?

I started this thread because I was tired of the ad hominem attacks in the Politics forum. How about something around your house and not the White House?

Over the counter drugs.

 

That apparently means drugs you buy without a prescription, despite that the only pharmaceuticals that actually come over the counter are prescription drugs.

I have a landline (and an answering machine). My sister pays for me to have a (flip) phone on her plan as my Xmas present every year, but I only turn it on to make an occasional call or send a rare text. I charge it about once every 3 months.

Landline and answering machine go hand-in-hand. I forgot to mention, I have one too.... And a cheap little flip phone I keep in the car for driving emergencies. Cost me $25 every 3 months for prepaid..... And they end up taking most the money for non-use at the end of the 3 months.

Literally in a museum. I didn't dial it myself, they had a small child in our tour do it, he had never seen a rotary phone before. I felt real old.

Yes, it does. Coaxial cable is used to deliver the signal from the box outside to the in-room outlet and then again from the in-room outlet to the television and/or modem.
