I had an escort flake, and it kind of let me down.

The whole “ghosting”, thing is just foul, dissmissive, and cowardly. It shows such a disregard for others.

Ironically, those who behave this way, cry the hardest, when Karma comes in and serves it back to them triple-fold.

Hopefully more people will realize that how you treat others is your way of telling the universe how to treat you.

Happened to me often... no unpleasantness whatsoever, not even awkward questions. Just plain ole ghosting or unexplained non-responsiveness. Not just in this industry. Its just the world as it now conducts itself:

  • I've had contractors and/or servicemen do the same, even with signed work orders
  • Had it happen socially with acquaintances
  • Hired new employees, only to have them no-show first day, no-call, and no response to my calls, texts and/or emails.

Ghosting is the new norm to communicate "changed my mind," or "not interested."

You're going to waste alot of energy if you're wondering why people do things you wouldn't do.

Please don’t call ghosting a “norm”, that gives the impression that it’s acceptable, and it’s not.

I think he meant that it's just become the norm, regardless of being acceptable. Which is has been. Ghosting is generally a defense mechanism people use to avoid confrontation or any sort of situation where it's going to involve them being "real" or show any side of them that they don't portray.

I think most of the clients who behave like this are losers who didn't get laid much when they were young, is like they're playing games with others lives just to feel good about themselves and powerful.

Pathetic!

Either that or they’re getting laid too often, and they see MSMs as nothing more than just ordering pizza.

There’s nothing wrong with meeting someone for sex in 5 minutes (in fact the closest client I’ve ever had was one who was just 2 floors above me in a Phoenix hotel, and another who was 3 floors above me in a Saint Louis Hotel.)

Hell...over pride weekend, I took my friend’s roommate to my car and let him suck me off til I came lol. Parked right on the street! I couldn’t even wait to get to the hotel...the D was needing to be released! So by all means, I’m not afraid of spontaneity. Just don’t bullshit when time comes to do it.

There are many reasons this could happen. He could have gotten cold feet. Maybe another client offered him an overnight, or a week, or a trip to Hawaii. Maybe he got a cold, or relapsed from rehab. It's not you, sadly it's just part of the game. Shake that shit off and get back out there!

Most of the posts above could be replied to with "yes but just fucking communicate!".

OK, so you (the escort) felt uncomfortable going as a companion to a wedding. Say so.

So you got a better overnight or whatever offer. Say so. Or at least lie and say you got sick or something so the guy isn't left hanging.

So you really did get sick. Unless you were in the ER, send a goddamn text.

Unless something really awful happened to you, there's no excuse for not communicating even if it was going to be a "Dear John" text.

I think you have a point, read on...

Exactly!

So I had to go to a tedious wedding over the weekend in Chicago (well, lovely and so well thought out, but weddings are not my thing) and I reached out to an escort to actually be my date. Nice young guy,

Despite me not being at all an advocate of flake and fake behavior, I have to say this was unfortunately an accident waiting to happen. Inviting someone you don’t know well, escort or non escort to a wedding is hard enough of its own. That should have never happened, for one. Hollywood portrays it like something that people are totally comfortable with doing. It’s not. I’ve literally been to 1 wedding my entire life. And the person I went with, we broke up...but our picture at his mother’s wedding remains forever.

Then you also said weddings aren’t your thing. Well it’s not the thing for probably 50% of all gay men lol, and you might have just happened to pick the 1 who wasn’t. Plus he’s a “young guy”. You didn’t specify how young.

This might of be an awkward situation diverted. You never know how someone is going to behave in public. I just don’t see how it could have been beneficial to bring along an escort who you’ve not met before, along to a wedding.

Weddings can be gossipy and highly social, and that can just put anyone out of their comfort zone. Plus the whole context reeks of love, commitment, and romance, and for some people that just conjures up all types of feelings that might be too intense for a 1st “date”. I find a lot of guy’s parents are divorced, and to watch someone get married could be too much for them if they aren’t around people they know. Better to fuck on the 1st date, than to go to a wedding on a first date. Too many gushy vibes at stake, and a sex worker probably shouldn’t be your first pick. Not saying that we can’t be all of the above, but not in that context.

Why would he do it? Some people play along right up to the moment. I don’t think it was some fantastic better offer that came along. I just think it’s more of a case where the person lost their confidence in attending the event, and ghosting was preferable to looking like a wimp.
