My Labor Day dinner menu

I bought some steaks earlier this year. I took one out of the freezer to defrost yesterday. Today I'll cook it in the microwave.

If possible....

 

Salt it now, even if it's still frozen.

 

To cook it, put it in a hot pan on the stove top for 3-4 minutes a side (depending on how thick the steak is) for medium rare to medium. Much tastier and more reliable than microwave cooking.

I'm afraid to use the stove. I might fall and not be able to turn it off and burn down the building. I can set the microwave timer.

Brisket (smoked 10-12 hours....started it early today)

Corn on the cob (grilled after the brisket is taken off)

Homemade biscuits

Homemade kosher dill pickles

 

And 2 desserts:

 

Homemade creme de menthe chocolate chip ice cream

Flourless almond cake

 

Anyone else cooking up a storm today?

I'm afraid to use the stove. I might fall and not be able to turn it off and burn down the building. I can set the microwave timer.

 

It might be worth investing in a little hot plate if the stove is difficult for you to use because of difficulty getting around. Even a one-burner hotplate will let you sear your steak or burgers while you cook some frozen veggies in the microwave.

You are right.

I am a huge beer guy love all types and saisons are some of my favorites. I used to like darker belgian ales too but as I have gotten older they also trigger headaches similar to wine :(

I just got back from a weekend in the Bay Area.....seems like I caught a cold there. I'll heat up some left over Chinese food.

 

Chinese is always good. Their hot mustard clears the nostrils! :)

 

I've never known anyone including myself who likes the soups.
