Unfortunately, the diversity of the NE combined with its very large population means that there are plenty of right wing nut jobs scattered among us.

Just google for hate crimes in New York or any other NE state--you'll be staggered. There are still multiple incidents in NYC every year in which people are physically assaulted in public because the perp thinks the victim is gay.

Terrible that that happened to his home, but the go fund me is fishy. Did he not have home owner's insurance? That covers stuff like arson fully. No to mention he was publicly saying he makes 15k a month doing OnlyFans.

I don't suppose they know who did this or why. Camp's twitter says "I won't be silenced", but I'm wondering, silenced about what? Has he taken up a specific cause lately? Is this the revenge of some Trump QAnon type for something Camp said, or an attack on him for being gay, or for being in gay porn? Or maybe it's just some local pyromaniac? It would be interesting to know what Camp thinks "ignited" the hate act.

The out.com article (thanks @dutchal!) mentions that the home was a part of history and dubbed the "Halloween House." Prior to Camp purchasing the home Joe "Netherworld" Mendillo, a high-ranking member of the Church of Satan, owned it according to the Poughkeepsie Journal. He had turned the building into a space for that community to gather for Halloween. Camp tells Out that Mendillo was a "longtime friend and mentor of mine" and that he purchased the home last fall to "restore it in his memory."

 

So maybe it was related to Camp, or maybe it was related to the house's association with the Church of Satan.

 

If it was directed at Camp, he thinks it was hate-driven because of how visible he is in the community. "It's a small town where I felt comfortable being honest about my job as an OnlyFans creator and my work on the show Slag Wars — two things I am very proud of because all I want is to empower and destigmatize sex work."

I think the investigation needs to be completed before drawing conclusions. The house appears to not only have the history cited above but is in a neighborhood where other adherents to this Church of Satan live.

 

Camp had not lived in the house very long which could also be a factor.

 

From the pictures it looks like it was a Victorian-era house.

 

I'm glad they got out alive and not physically harmed.
