The out.com article (thanks @dutchal!) mentions that the home was a part of history and dubbed the "Halloween House." Prior to Camp purchasing the home Joe "Netherworld" Mendillo, a high-ranking member of the Church of Satan, owned it according to the Poughkeepsie Journal. He had turned the building into a space for that community to gather for Halloween. Camp tells Out that Mendillo was a "longtime friend and mentor of mine" and that he purchased the home last fall to "restore it in his memory."

So maybe it was related to Camp, or maybe it was related to the house's association with the Church of Satan.

If it was directed at Camp, he thinks it was hate-driven because of how visible he is in the community. "It's a small town where I felt comfortable being honest about my job as an OnlyFans creator and my work on the show Slag Wars — two things I am very proud of because all I want is to empower and destigmatize sex work."

Well that's creepy. The fact that Matthew Camp is associated with this "Church of Satan" is really creepy and makes me wonder about his sanity. At least his sex work is a mild activity compared to that shit. Destigmatizing sex work is a noble goal. Wacko religious beliefs are dangerous.

At least he's not a member of QAnon... sorry I had to say it!

The IRS just won't mess with most churches... Can they raise their money themselves? It will be tax free

should a thread about Matthew's religion start in another forum?

Oh, the IRS messes with a lot of 'churches' who don't have official tax-exempt status.

It's how the war between Scientology and the IRS started in 1992 (or so), with Scientology being one of the few entities ever who strong-armed the IRS into submission.

The Satanic Temple was granted status in early 2019. If his home was considered an official 'church,' he may indeed claim all of this raised money tax-free.

Insurance often fails to fully cover losses. There are caps that the insurance companies apply. They won't pay more than their assessed value, even if the house would have sold for a lot more on the market. Then there are all of the possessions that get destroyed but for which you don't have receipts, etc.

I have a cost of replacement policy on my house which is usually considerably about market value especially when the value of the land is subtracted from the building.

If the house is of standard construction it would not be a problem but in my case my house is over 150 years old and built of stone entirely, not just a facing of stone, which became common in the 20th century. My walls are almost two feet thick.

As a result, my cost of replacement is over twice what a stone faced house would cost.

As for furnishings, I keep an inventory of major items. Most don’t have receipts but I have photographed them. My insurance agent says that would be adequate.

New York Times article on this arson attack this morning talks about this "church" and says that it is not actually satan worshiping, but atheistic. Sounds like more a spoof of a religion than anything, and its founder who owned the house originally apparently commented that he was "too gay for the satanists and too satanist for the gays." THe quote is cited by Camp, who was apparently a friend.

So Camp is very involved with this bizarre sect, whatever it is, and gay people have been integral to its founding. The article seems to imply that the arson may have been connected to the cult connections rather than the gay ones. But the investigation has just started.

All very weird.

Sounds like a gay version of a witch’s coven.

Article gives some more context to the fire. It appears that house was a popular gathering place for Satanists and a fairly anodyne group they appear to be in this situation. Camp was familiar with the previous owner and wanted to continue using the house for the fun times people had there.

I would have gone to visit it had I been in the neighborhood and known of its existence. Who knew Poughkeepsie was so interesting!

So what is his OF page like? Does he post long-ish videos of him having sex with other guys? Other pornstars? If so, like who that we'd know?

Or is it just a collection of jo's and still photos, with the occasional teaser that requires an extra payment to see a whole video?

Its very interactive and he posts frequently. I think its far superior to most. Not a rip off and he's enjoying himself.

I think the investigation needs to be completed before drawing conclusions. The house appears to not only have the history cited above but is in a neighborhood where other adherents to this Church of Satan live.

Well ... on the other side of things, and being objective, he is:

- A GAY PERFORMER

- WHO FILMS SEX ACTS

- TO POST THEM ON THE INTERNET

- FOR SALE/PROFIT

- AND LIVED IN A HOUSE LINKED TO THE CHURCH OF SATAN.

The way the US has turned, especially in small communities where it's easier to find radical conservatives, I see many people being the perpetrator of this crime.

This single line gave me the creeps.

Why's that?

It's not as if their 'church' is different from any other 'church'

It's really all the same shtick. Same general system of belief: Different characters.

As to the IRS, they fight hard for their cut and don't easily grant these tax exemptions without a lot of legal hand-wringing. Something must have been presented that made sure the Satanic Temple was in-line with every other major.

yes, as long as each contribution is under 12K.

(at least that's to the best of my knowledge)

Close, but no cigar!

https://www.policygenius.com/taxes/guide-to-gift-tax/

The federal gift tax applies whenever you give someone besides your spouse a gift worth more $15,000

(Assuming the gifts are from multiple donors and each gift does not exceed $15,000)

I thought it was 12 because of that's how John Ensign had his parents give money to his mistress. Thanks for the update.
