Would it be rude to ask an escort for his HIV status?

The HPV vaccine is nearly useless if you haven't gotten it by the age of 25. The younger you get it, the better and more effective it is.

Aside from cancer, HPV can be a difficult thing in terms of removing the outbreak: Like a weed, it tends to keep coming back and having them burned or frozen off is a really painful, ugly situation. This cyclical outbreak causes a lot more than just physical pain- The depression issues surrounding this can be lifelong.

HPV doesn't ever clear from the system, but not everyone develops symptoms. Many are just carriers.

Morally speaking, if an escort is HIV+, should he even be escorting? If he contracted any contagious disease, wouldn't it be proper to not expose others? If an escort has a bout with the flu or a cold sore erupts, he lies low for a while. Why wouldn't he cease escorting altogether if he contracted something far worse? Unless, of course, if the prospective client is made fully aware and chooses to hire him anyway.

How about the flip side? Shouldn't HIV+ clients stop hiring escorts? If fact taken to the extreme, shouldn't all HIV+ folks just stop having sex all together? "Wouldn't it be proper not to expose others?"

Indeed they should. They should be recluded in concentration camps where they can fuck each other and leave the rest of the humanity free of their infectious presence.

If he's + and on meds, undetectable and taking care of himself, I see no issue with him being a sex worker. The real key is being honest and upfront about it. Allow your clients to make that decision for themselves.

Many escorts are positive (whether they know it or not) and are not taking ideal care of themselves: It's really a time bomb in a sense.

The only thing you can do is protect yourself by making smart choices, PrEP and/or condoms.

Wow. I haven't heard statements like that in a while. The 80's are calling you back.

If you had attended as many memorial services as I did back in the 1980's for friends who died AIDS related deaths, you might not be so flippant with your remarks.

I've had multiple friends die of AIDS in the 90s. Now as of then I take the same approach. I don't ask anyone not to have sex or just keep it confined to themselves just so that I can feel better.

I treat everyone like they have HIV and it's done me well through out life.

Except a lot of those who died in the 80s (including my own brother and many of my friends) were likely infected before the virus was isolated, before doctors knew what caused AIDS, and how to prevent its spread. I agree with caliguy.

  • 2 weeks later...

The most effective way of avoiding HIV positive escorts is to see if they are "offended" when you ask.

Literally the ONLY person who is "offended" by that question is the HIV positive person...so guaranteed to have an accurate answer either way.

"No. I am not" = clean... or "I am offended by that question" = I am poz.

You lost me at “morally.” On a forum compiled of discussions surrounding sexual transactions. Also, kill it with fire (you), not people living with HIV.
