You had a better experience. I never played baccarat. Not enough tables or seats and a constant waiting list of players. Casino spectating is boring. The casino is not operating 3 games in which players usually handle cards. Most of the tables are blackjack, but I gave up playing that game years ago because too many players are terrible at it; it's more frustrating than fun. Mississippi stud is now a face up game with 3 players max and dealer handling cards. 3-card (which I hate and don't play) is the only game I saw with players handling cards; the table is set-up for 2 players. That is absurd. Similarly, the supervisors were constantly sanitizing the tables and chairs between players. They also schedule a chip cleaning on some frequency. The dealer and a supervisor lay a cloth on the table and unload the rack spraying and wiping all the chips. Time-consuming, but our present reality. I'm not into flying these days, or I'd be knocking on your door to make a casino run.

Of course, I would probably have a much better attitude if I had won.

Well, I'll say this.....I did not have the full array of assets that elite providers possess, but I think I would have had some fun trying to lend a hand or whatever. ?

So, I drove to a casino, which comped a couple of nights, just to check out the new rules. I have enjoyed casino fun for decades, but it's over. It's not just the annoying mask requirement, which makes it difficult to hear what anyone is saying; the food options are minimal and lacking; I can't handle cards, a bummer because that means some of my favorite table games are not open; some tables have too few players, which drives down the odds; there's no comraderie or fun among the players; an atmosphere of misery hangs over the place; the table limits are higher to compensate for the lack of gamblers, which means it's harder to weather the dry spells; there's no drink service at the tables; there's no room/housekeeping service; they removed the coffee-makers from the rooms, and on and on...... Until casino life returns, I do not foresee wasting money, time, and effort to fly to Vegas to experience this level of blah. Staying home and savoring country life is a heckuva lot more fun than this.

I was "approached" by an older businessman when I was in college. At the time, I was too clueless to figure out what the hell he was asking. If I'd known then......what I know now......

I cancelled recent travel plans. My next attempt will likely be in September, a flight out west.

I have family interred in numerous cemeteries around the countryside; I rarely visit any of them. My primary family plot, where I will be interred, contains 4 generations of family. I visit it about every 2 months to make sure the weeds are under control and treat those pesky fire ant mounds. The cemetery lawn is routinely mowed, but they pay no attention to detail. I agree with others that cemeteries are peaceful retreats from a mad, mad, mad, mad world, and great places to walk and exercise.

Have you ever been arrested while hiring a RentMan?

One way to weed out entrapment threats in the upfront communication: if your prospect is slow to respond, incoherent/unintelligible, and ignores your questions, he's definitely a generation 2020 provider. -
Congratulations Victor! And well wishes on your new season of life. It's a privilege to meet and know you. I appreciate your encouraging spirit. Keep spreading your positive attitude. Our world needs more of you!

Sure. I have met many forum mates. And some are great friends, going back many years. We plan outings, lunch/dinner meet-ups when travel schedules coincide, and even vacation adventures. I expect to enjoy some forum friendships for the rest of our lives. I don't hobby much anymore, but even when I completely exit the world of hiring, I want to maintain these friendships. It is a diverse community of talented people, which became my surprise bonus when I began hobbying 20 years ago.

Never happened to me. I would not comply. If that's their new policy, they would lose all future revenue from me.

I cancelled a trip to Vegas this week. Nothing about travel seems fun these days. The COVID measures being deployed around table games are dreadful; I have no interest in any of that joylessness. I probably won't visit Vegas again for a long time.

The app culture has crossed over into the rent culture. Many younger men have learned the way of the apps and transfer it to their business model. So, quickies work. It's all they know. Too many are anti-social/non-social and cannot imagine the skills required to offer an excellent experience beyond a quickie. I have met many guys over the past few years that I pity because they don't have any meaningful relationships in their lives.

My score has gradually declined over the past few years, and there are several reasons for that (no debt, no auto loans particularly, fewer credit lines, etc). I don't care. I'm not a borrower, nor run credit card balances, nor do I intend to borrow in the future. One impact, I do not receive the additional discount on my home/auto insurance premiums because of the lower credit score. So, it's a few extra bucks annually out of my pocket. Debt is a cruel taskmaster, and I hope to live the rest of my life free from its ruthless grip.

Chrome....I never had success canceling the flight online or reaching a rep on the phone. The website would not process my transaction; it placed me in queue for a refund "pending", a refund I never wanted or asked for. I just wanted to cancel and receive an e-credit. I saved all my communication with them in case they try to screw me, steal my money, and I have to go to war with them. So Delta, bring it!

I'm meh concerning this provider, but I appreciate his grasp of mathematics, a subject which eludes many of his colleagues.
-
I have used every possible link on the website to change/cancel the flight. None of them work. The company is functionally deceased.

I booked a trip to Vegas for this week, but have no desire to go. I tried to cancel and/or change the flight for over a week with no success. Delta will accept new bookings on their website (fresh revenue) but that's it. I cannot cancel the flight. I cannot change the flight. I cannot request a refund. No one will answer the phone. No one will answer my messages or emails. It appears to be a ghost ship, completely adrift.

is making an initial donation offer appropriate?
jawjateck replied to + DrownedBoy's topic in Questions About Hiring
I ask for a quote; I don't presume to make an offer. However, I have a history of taking chances and contacting newbies; in many cases, they are clueless and ask for my advice, which I proffer. I have had excellent results doing so for most of the past 15 years (the last couple years....meh....) Just be prepared to give a thoughtful and reasonable response if a newbie asks for advice. Happy hunting! -

Blackmail is the bigger risk factor. I knew a couple of escorts who had a brief legal problem, but I've known more participants here who have faced attempted extortion. Don't be so trusty and chatty with people you don't know. -

You damn right about "preferences". I'm beyond pissed that buffed 20-somethings don't yearn for passionate encounters with decaying, 50-somethings like me. Screw them and their bigotry. -
Without an anchor client, you're gambling to "make a killing", and you probably won't. There are a couple of concepts with an anchor client; one of them is that the client flies you to his city for an overnight, and then you stay an extra 2 or 3 days after the appointment for work. Give your anchor client a good overnight rate and a good time, and he may do it again in the future, in his or some other city.

Last month's pass through Vegas was cancelled, and I re-scheduled a trip for next month, but with all the travel hassles and hotel requirements for gambling and dining, I will likely cancel that trip too. I'm not interested in being stuck behind a mask constantly from the time I leave home until I return 4 or 5 days later. Country living is pretty sweet these days.

I lured a couple of Mintboy newbies from neighboring states to drive over to Atlanta, and had a good time with both of them. But much of this hobby is "needle in a haystack" stuff now, not just MB.
