I can see that you have a genuine difficulty @MikeBiDude with a guy from Seeking. Essentially you are lowering what you offer him. And I can see how a young man would ask himself 'why should I be paid less'? I guess thats why I like to open negotiations low but, on having a great time, I am generous on a number of fronts (restaurants with great food and wine, pick up random bills and offer no-strings cash). I think it's much easier when you can raise, not lower, expectations.

And I agree and sympathise with @kevininsa. I'm aware that many people in ordinary jobs have to work hard to earn $300 after taxes etc. To me, $300 is still a lot of money. Yet I'll spend that on a very good bottle of wine when the fancy takes me. And I recall that in Manhattan 15 years ago, when escorts asked $200, a good 3 course dinner for 2 with wine cost $200 or less. Life is full of contradictions.

I never go above 300. I've noticed that most escorts will go down in rate once you question or say no thanks. I don't like haggling and if the rate was on the page we wouldn't go through this issue. If a quality beautiful man like Justin is at 300 that works for me.

I think 300 is a lot too. it’s pretty much my upper limit for a session. Perhaps in nyc, there are many rich guys willing to spend 300 plus plus, but unfortunately i’m not one of them...hard for me to justify. I’d rather see someone for 200 on a weekly basis than periodically seeing someone who charges 300.

This is why I don't tend to hire visiting escorts all that often, especially if they're only in town for a few days. I figure that with a local escort, even if they also have busy schedules, we can try to find a time when he won't be necessarily running from one appointment to the next. With a visitor on a tight schedule, I would not only assume but expect that he'll be seeing a lot of people, and I'm just one more.

And at this stage of the game, I'm willing to go for 250, but 300 still makes me hesitate.

I do dream of the day when the ultra-conservative wave we're in relaxes enough that sites will feel comfortable allowing rates back in the ads again. (Yes, I know Friendboy does that.) Seeing the rates used to be a tremendous guide in selecting the guys I'd want.

$300 makes me crazy. I keep thinking what happened to $200? But then I remember, I started paying $200 over 15 years ago. With the cost of living increases isn't that about $300? Yet it still makes me (and others) crazy. I just hate spending that much.

If I'm bottoming I usually ask the escort to cum while fucking. Just as I would if topping. To me, it's hotter.

Pretty ugly stuff said about BN earlier. I've always thought he was a talented guy in more ways than that of an escort. Tried to meet him a few times but schedules never clicked. Doubt he is more expensive than he should be or he wouldn't have survived as long as he has. Couldn't be pricier than Axel Hardy at 3k a night. I'd pay that again for him, worth it. Sounds like a few mean spirited sour grapes are in our midst. Nothing meaner than an old washed up queen. That being said, I'll bet BN hands are't all that rough. Lets be nice to each other. Much more pleasant for everyone.

    It's not jealousy. It's envy.
They envy what they can't have, can't afford or feel has grown past them. To soothe a fragile ego, they come here with an anonymous screen name and vent their own frustrations.
It would be comical if it weren't so sad.

I read this and thought "Ty"... sounds familiar. Looked up Andrew Stark and had no clue. At first. Then I recognized the eyes. Wow! Older, bulked up a bit. I remember first seeing him on CF, he was like a kid in a candy store discovering gay sex. He was fun to watch.
    Thanks FOS!

Wow Victor. If I’m paying a pro $250 an hour, I’d expect him to always possess the essential tools of the trade. If a plumber came to my house and asked if he could borrow my tools, I wouldn’t hire that guy again.

I think that for most people, texting is easier done in short bits of conversation - you're not being expected to write in any real detail. It's great for a quick or last-minute note (giving a heads-up to my colleagues that I'm going to be late, or a quick check-in about something with a friend, etc), but if I actually want to CONVERSE with someone, I'd rather have the freedom of typing emails on the full-sized keys at my desktop, etc. Yes, it's possible to have a full conversation through text, but I find it a bit more of an effort to do so.

In initiating a talk with an escort, I find texting is generally about "wassup? Rate is $250 R U into it?" - which may get the basics out but it's rather impersonal - whereas with email I feel freer to spread out a bit and actually ask questions about activities, discuss what I'd like, and maybe even gab a little, which always helps make it feel like we're going to have a more friendly time together.

That said, there are people who email in the same laconic way that they text, lol - but what I'm trying to say is that I think the format of email can invite a more thorough conversation.

And the truth is, when a provider is exceedingly difficult to communicate with, or has a lot of rules and barriers for communicating in a way that I am comfortabke initiating contact, I tend to take the view that they have done me a favor as well as themselves in some regards, and saved us both time by sending me the message that we would likely not be a good match.

For me, the operative word here is "client." Good client service would include, IMHO, a willingness to adapt to the means of communication preferred by the client, within reason. Yes, telegram and fax and quill & parchment are out, but both email and text seem reasonable to me. Escorts who won't ever email simply close off a portion of the market for themselves.

As a client, this approach has yielded the best results overall of maintaining privacy as well as developing understanding when interacting with a provider. I can’t always text and am not in an environment where my phone is completely in my own hands. I understand the advice for google voice and I agree with it, but I appreciate providers who understand this like @peterhung85, and, at least for me, providers who understand and are comfortable interacting in that way tend to be good matches for me. @peterhung85, I guess that means I need to find my way to Las Vegas.
