Alpha714 reacted to + azdr0710 in Opening And Closing Credits For The 1961 "West Side Story"
I may've posted something like this before, but the youtube algorithm just came up with the closing credits for me and that reminded me of the movie's fantastic opening....many here already know these scenes, but both the opening and closing are still very clever for a 65-year-old flick, I think.....graphic designer Saul Bass and his wife are responsible for this what must've been pretty radical stuff for 1961 (vertical lines??? - what could that possibly mean??!!)......AI summary for Saul Bass:
Saul Bass designed the iconic opening for West Side Story, transforming credits from simple lists into a narrative prologue using abstract lines, shifting colors, and eventually filmed aerials of Manhattan, introducing the city's tone and gang rivalry before the story begins, a groundbreaking integration of graphic design with live action. He and his wife, Elaine Makatura Bass, also created the graffiti-style closing credits, linking the film's tragic end to its urban setting, making the sequences a distinct part of the movie's identity
always cool to watch plus Bernstein's work to boot......stay with both to the very "end"........full screen and volume up!......

Alpha714 got a reaction from + jeezopete in *Late Night TV takes another hit
It should be noted that Gutfeld and the network late night talk shows do not start and end at the same time. The Nielsen ratings quoted attribute the time for Gutfeld as 10pm where as Kimmel and the rest of the network shows are attributed to 11:35pm. There is quite a difference in the universe of people watching television between those two time periods. When looking at social media platforms that bring true late night reach into focus, the description of “horrible ratings” given to JK is very inaccurate

Alpha714 got a reaction from + jeezopete in *Late Night TV takes another hit
The ratings quoted earlier are based on total audience but when you look at the most coveted demo for advertisers (Adults 18-49), all three network late shows outpace Fox News with Kimmel and Colbert running almost equal. Fox News may have have higher numbers in the daypart but their audience is way older. As someone who has spent a good amount of his career involved in network television, it is all about reaching the target audience who has the greatest buying power. XXXX

Alpha714 got a reaction from MikeBiDude in 2025 Emmys
The show was lame but the three programs that won big awards totally deserved them. Adolescence was incredible. The Pitt was excellent and Noah Wylie was amazing. The Studio is a clever satire that was super entertaining

I’m finally reading the big bestseller DEMON COPPERHEAD by Barbara Kingsolver — which was inspired by DAVID COPPERFIELD by Dickens, but tackles poverty and Opioid addiction in Appalachia. It’s a total page turner so far.

I really liked the film. Yes, very much like Ridley but I loved how it all unfolded with some very disturbing scenes that really pushed the boundaries of what is in movies today. Great soundtrack. Been listening to the playlist on Spotify all weekend!

Agree. I liked to see each guy in his own uniform instead of looking at their sleeve to see from what team. The miked thing fails in what it needs to do more times than it works.

I have had pretty good experienced with guys living here in Atlanta from both RentMassuer and Massuerfinder. As in any big city, there will be good and not so good. There are a few I consider “regulars” for different seasons.
