    Things you miss

While I am more that glad to be living in the present, I still miss the Gaiety and the beautiful men coming out through the silver curtain for the Grand Finale😥.
  2. He use to escort several years ago but opened up his own gym. Guess the trainer business needs some side income to support him. Pictures and information are accurate. I know several people who socialize with him and say he’s a “good guy.”
  3. Great place in its day. Fond memories👍. Thanks for the reminder🙏
  4. I still have a collection of three of the Four Season ashtrays. Back in the “old days”, each place setting had an ash tray. They had one for each season and changed them out accordingly. It was one of the most beautiful mid century modern rooms anywhere with those bead curtains that gently swayed. While never cheap, the food was always good. The service was excellent. BUT I am going back 40-50 years ago when the restaurant built its reputation.
  5. The REAL Museum of Ice Cream is in NY: https://www.adroll.com/blog/unrolling-museum-of-ice-cream
  6. Actually, the museum is in Missouri. The riverboat was on the Missouri River when it sunk. The river had shifted over the years, leaving the boat in Kansas. Unless you see the museum, don’t knock it. I have taken visitors there who live all over the world, and they have all found it a great museum. In addition, it is clearly the world’s best sunken riverboat museum🏆🥇😀😀
  7. I take all my out-if-town visitors there and they love it. Great museum.
  8. For me, going to college was just expected by family. It was not only just going to college but what type of graduate education to be a “professional”: doctor, lawyer or dentist were the main choices offered. Myself, sister and all cousins went to college. Most of the females went into teaching (some had masters degrees) and all the males got professional degrees. The expectations were set high and it never occurred to any of us not to work hard to meet those expectations.
  9. Except for the set being real and the fireworks, better music and direction with Zeffirelli’s Aida😀😀: That’s how the Italians do ancient Egypt😀😀😀.
  10. Same here. In the days before the pandemic when I hired for a week or more, if the activity that week included a great location with great experiences that appealed to the escort, the price for his time dropped.
  11. The World War I Museum is absolutely amazing. Not just the artifacts but also the presentation and interactive displays. When I have visitors and we go there, we usually spend about 3 hours. Well worth the time👍 https://www.theworldwar.org/
  12. Cruise ships have even stricter No Smoking Policies. The ships usually have a small outside smoking area but do not allow smoking anywhere else. They don’t worry about the “anything else” because smoking gets you dropped off at the next port😱.
  13. Maybe having a live, nude model might help👍😀.
  14. Great story. Thanks for sharing. In the Kevin Bacon game of personal relationships, nice that you are 3 links removed from Brahms🏆👍😊. The
  15. What amazes me is why didn’t the taxi companies rush to get apps? They have them now but it took a long time.
  16. Google is our friend: https://www.news.com.au/travel/travel-ideas/cruises/what-really-happens-to-your-poo-when-staying-on-a-cruise-ship/news-story/c4f45391a07a51863efc3d5633d51c8e?amp There was a time when trains and planes just dumped waste along the way🥵. Now they put it in storage tanks to be pumped out and properly disposed.👍😀
  17. I’ve been on a half dozen Oceania cruises and had great experiences. Being all inclusive, no surprises. Great staff. The ships are smaller than the huge ones like Carnival do really no lines for meals or shows. Nice gyms. Food was good and usually reflected the ports where we stopped so it was changing all the time. The speciality restaurants were excellent. Canyon Ranch runs the spas so good service there (no happy endings🥲😀) Highly recommend.👍
  18. There are people who live on cruise ships now. My mother met a few of them on her twice yearly Crystal Cruises. Some thoughts: 1-normally while you are on the ship for nine months, other passengers are only doing certain segments so you meet new people all the time. One woman told my mother she plays bridge almost every day and she loves having new partners every 10-15 days as people come and leave for different segments. 2-another woman told my mother that she has different grandchildren join her for different segments so that about half the time she has a grandchild (or child) with her. 3-they love having “staff”: maid service daily, all meals not only in various restaurants but room service 24/7, a butler, laundry, casino and nightly entertainment, high tea, spa services like massages and hair salon, lectures, etc. Shore excursions if they want (most were well traveled and had been to the ports many times and just stayed on board). 4-they loved meeting new people as segments changed. New stories to hear and a new audience to hear their stories. 5-many had sold their homes and had a fixed address with a child so the cost of the ship was offset by savings of having a house (taxes, utilities, up keep, insurance), food, entertainment, automobile, etc. I had the feeling that many of them were wealthy widows and had full suites. I think many liked the attention of the crew. Crystal Cruises were geared to an “older” crowd with formal nights and the ship’s officers danced with the ladies. The dining room had a captain’s table and I’m sure the handsome captain lavished attention on these residents. The medical care on the Crystal ships was good. The infirmary had multiple dialysis machines!! (My mother’s comment was with multiple dialysis machines, they knew their client base well😀).
  19. If a woman can do it, I suppose there are male versions but just not as open: https://www.the-sun.com/lifestyle/3941738/sugar-mama-pay-man-15-years-younger-cougar/ Are there any open male versions of this where both parties admit the reality of the relationship? I know of ones that were “wink wink” like Nick Gruber and Kevin Klein but just not this blatant.
  20. A fly on the wall OR better yet an invitee to be an observer😀
  21. 😀 Soon to be official city post with a stipend and city resources😱: https://nypost.com/2021/10/26/nyc-lawmakers-push-for-big-apple-drag-laureate/
  22. $8.00😱🥵 https://finance.yahoo.com/amphtml/news/pain-pump-california-gas-prices-224327931.html
  23. Absolutely correct. I hate these tip screens at carry out places where the clerk has done nothing to deserve a tip. If I pick my food up from a case and the only effort the clerk has done is to wave the bar code reader on my item(s) and tell me to put my credit card in the slot and not even bag the order, I find it difficult to think they are going to get an 18% tip minimum. I have become brazen in my old age👍😇😀. I have started hitting the “OTHER” button and then giving a dollar if the clerk is good.
  24. These discussions always take me back to my beloved Gaiety Theater days in the 1990’s when the “older” veterans use to complain that the dancers wouldn’t do hotel room privates for $50 anymore.🥵
