Here in Virginia, with a tropical storm moving up the coast, it's about to rain cats and dogs. But my favorite weather is when it's raining men! Especially one like him.

The mention of "half" brings to mind another story. Benjamin Disraeli, when his party was out of power, was once castigated by the Speaker of the House of Commons for saying that half the Cabinet were fools. Disraeli apologized: "I regret saying that half the Cabinet are fools, and now observe that half the Cabinet are not fools." [Some liberties taken with exact phrasing.]

Reminiscent of when someone said my boss was a dumb SOB. I replied, "No, no! He's not dumb."

I've seen Russell on several programs (Real Time and Graham Norton, for example) and he was, surprisingly to me, an articulate spokesman for his point of view, and with which I generally agreed. However, if I had a position I wanted to see advanced, his persona and demeanor would be disqualifying for that task. He's just too irritating to behold.

Well, with a body like that, it would almost have to be.

Not sure this qualifies, but years ago in the Navy, I was at a bar in Norfolk and met this absolutely gorgeous hunk. He was a little shorter than me, had blond or light brown crewcut hair, a great tan complexion, shown off quite well in his muscle shirt. And he had the muscles to make it work - arms, shoulders, and chest. And a really "butch" outgoing manner to him. I loved this kid! But I wasn't the only one. Another guy was buzzing around him, also making goo-goo eyes at my intended, who was unfortunately getting drunker as the night progressed. Forgetting some details, the three of us wound up in the dunes of Sandbridge Beach and made out, each of us taking turns with the hunk. At some point, the hunk and my competition went further into the dunes while timid me sat alone in the moonlight, wishing and wondering. When they came back, both seemingly satisfied, we returned to Norfolk and went our separate ways. I returned to that bar several times hoping to find the hunk again, but never did. Clearly-and sadly- a missed opportunity, and although gone for many years, never forgotten.

Never heard of this artist until now. Three reactions: Seems the antithesis of El Greco; short and fat vs thinned and elongated Not really appealing to my tastes; not in the least because -- I'd hate to see what he'd do in a full body portrait of me! (And so would you)
