I’ve read that hotels have shifted to reduce contact at registration. Some are requiring temperature checks to get in. some hotels have stopped housekeeping during your stay to reduce risk to employees and guests. With fewer guests, non registered guests would be more obvious, particularly if one guest has multiple non registered visitors.

I don't see how it would make a difference. When you're staying in a hotel/motel, AFAIK it is perfectly permissible to have guests in your room. They don't care what you're doing unless its seriously illegal.
