  1. If someone was to meet up with a crew member in one of the ports, would that also put the crew member at risk of being fired? Or do you think it's only when they are on duty and aboard the ship? I've been on a few cruises and I don't always do excursions if the port city is accessible by foot and there's things to see and do on my own, and I have sometimes run into a crew member here or there who is having a meal or doing some shopping. Perhaps if there is a mutual interest it would be better to meet up in those situations?
  2. An attractive arm? LOL
  3. Except when Netanyahu was young....
  4. If he can maintain a route like that he should be delivering presents on Christmas Eve with his 8 reindeer.
  5. I think I would be more assuring than alluring in any situation
  6. Maybe it would have turned out better if you had only left your number, and not included the dollar signs - no need to sell yourself short
  7. I'm really surprised by this. Do you think that the community is more racist than other demographics, or is it just more surprising that racist sentiments exist in a community that has faced so much discrimination itself, albeit based on orientation? Sadly, racism exists in every demographic, even amongst those who definitely should know much better. Ugh - society can really disappoint.
  8. I agree that adults have the right to say no to anything. But some are unable to say no because of the circumstances they are in. I'm not suggesting that you or others are being predatory, but 'cultivating' someone sounds like they are being trained up for a specific purpose they otherwise would not be interested in.
  9. Call me what you will, but some of the examples cited in this thread are really sad and seem to take advantage of people's desperation. 😔. (Yes, I fully expect a bunch of 'eye-roll' and 'verbose' emojis)
  10. I can remember when the tip choices on the credit card machine were 5%, 10%, 15% and other. Now they start at 18% or 20% at a number of restaurants I've been to. I will happy tip more than 20% if the service is outstanding, but I find that outstanding service is harder and harder to find these days. On a somewhat related note, here in Canada it is not uncommon for grocery stores to ask if you wish to make a donation to a charity they support and have that amount added to your bill. Many people feel guilty for not adding a couple of bucks to their grocery total, but I stopped doing this some time ago when I was told the company uses these donations to get a big tax refund. So I prefer to get a gift card for the homeless person sitting outside the store instead.
  11. Yes, sadly true.
  12. Ugh - the idea of a floating scale really gets my goat. A discount for hotness is ultimately a surcharge to those not as hot. When I lived in Victoria, BC, there was a Chinese restaurant that had two menus with two sets of pricing - the one written in Chinese had lower prices, but you only benefitted if you could read the menu and understand the price differences. I was really hungry, so that might be why I am still ticked off about floating scales - hahaha.
  13. I'm assuming that you are located somewhere with better access to the Caribbean side of Mexico that to the Pacific? I have found the water on the Caribbean side to be much nicer than on the Pacific coast, but I found Cancun to be overrated. I much preferred further down the Mayan Riviera, past Playa del Carmen to places like Akumal and Tulum. Unless you prefer the party atmosphere of Cancun. Sorry I don't have a specific hotel in mind - it has been quite a few years since I was on that coast, and hotel ratings can fluctuate quite a bit.
  14. Will Dewey and Louis turn up next?
  15. I doubt if people in an electric chair convulse so much.
  16. Or maybe he just stutters when he writes?
  17. That's the issue - he wanted the blanket to be wet, not his chest... 😁
  18. Good question. Isn't he the one who has stated that if someone is not satisfied by their time together, that he would not accept a donation? Or am I thinking of someone else?
  19. I haven't had it, but I know many people who have, and generally speaking it is quite low risk for the majority of people. Of course any surgical procedure has a degree of risk but I have not personally known anyone who has had any complications. Prior to the advent of lens implants I understand it was a much more serious undertaking, with the patient having to keep their head virtually immobile as the eyes healed. My great-uncle had his done in the early days of lens implants, and I remember him fearing he would have to lie flat with a sack of beans on either side of his head to keep it from moving as he recovered, like his mother had to do several decades earlier. But his operation in the 1980s required none of that, and I think it is way more advanced today.
  20. If you add up the cost of the clothes I'm wearing on any given day it wouldn't come to $130... even in Canadian dollars. 😂
  21. If I am understanding the reports correctly, the search parties looking for Julian Sands have been finding other lost hikers in the process. But no sign of Sands. When I lived in BC I remember that hikers would periodically go missing during winter excursions, and sadly, many would only be recovered after the snow melted in the spring. I have a sinking feeling the same fate has befallen Sands.
