Nearly 8% of Gen Z men identify as bisexual
CuriousByNature replied to moonlight's topic in The Lounge
And from another perspective, perhaps GenZ has become so aware and sensitive to LGBTQ issues, that they subconsciously assume bisexual identities in order to share the experience beyond what regular ally-ship would require. I know a couple of GenZ's who have done similar things regarding other historically persecuted groups, and while their heart may be in the right place, it doesn't usually aid their ally-ship in the long run. -
Sometimes it seems that employers will do anything to prevent workers from knowing what each other make, especially when it's for the same position. I once had a supervisor who told me that discussing salaries with co-workers was grounds for firing. I think it was just one more way for management to control the staff. This was long past the days when it was still appropriate to ask someone about their religious beliefs or marital status in an interview. Some of my older relatives faced those kinds of questions.

Lighting is key. The town I live in has generously funded a lighting crew to accompany me anywhere I go, in case I've forgotten to wear a paper bag over my head. Sometimes it just slips a guy's mind.

No, I was being a bit facetious with my comment. I think his looks and image definitely make him more popular, but a lot of people also support what he did because of how insurance companies treat clients.

Yes, I read a lot about 'the Big One' when I was living there. It's the Cascadia fault line that is overdue to rupture, by some estimates. I believe it runs about 1000 km from northern Vancouver Island all the way down to northern California. It's quite far off shore where the Juan de Fuca Plate is subducting beneath the North American Plate - and it doesn't reach as far south as LA. I don't think it even reaches the northernmost section of the San Andreas fault. The last megathrust Cascadia quake was in January 1700, and we know this because a tsunami hit Japan approximately 10 hours after the quake. There were no written records in what is now western Canada at that time, but there are Indigenous oral histories that speak about great shaking and flooding. Japanese historians recorded the tsunami as an 'orphan' tsunami because there was no quake felt in Japan before the waves hit there - since the earthquake had happened all the way across the Pacific. I've read that these ruptures happen on average every 300-800 years, or so. Cascadia is currently 25 years past the low end of this average, and almost 500 years from the top end. If the entire fault ruptures it could cause a quake in the range of 9.0 to 9.5, which would likely devastate Vancouver, Seattle and Portland. If only a portion of the fault ruptures, then the quake might 'only' be 8.0-8.5. This is still extremely strong and damaging, but it would only release one tenth of the energy of a 9.0-9.5 quake, since the scale is base-10 logarithmic in nature - if I recall correctly. I don't know if the quake today would have relieved any pressure on the Cascadia fault, since it's quite far off the west coast of Vancouver Island and today's shaker was on the coast of the mainland itself - and I don't believe the two faults are connected. 🤷♂️

Hi everyone, I just got off the phone with my uncle who lives near Vancouver, BC. There was a 5.1 or 5.2 earthquake about 40 miles northwest of the city earlier today. He said it was the biggest shake he's felt in decades and he was very unsettled by it. There was no damage in his area, thankfully, and it was not large enough to cause any tsunamis. I used to live in Vancouver and in the surrounding areas quite a while back, but I think I only felt a small earthquake once, and that one was quite far south and closer to Seattle, if I recall. Anyway, I'm not sure if anyone on the forum lives in the BC Lower Mainland or on Vancouver Island, but if so, I hope everyone is fine. 5.1 or 5.2 probably didn't cause any damage, but I expect it could have been pretty alarming.

Unicorn's aren't real?

I certainly hope not. Poor Luigi can access legal aid if he and his wealthy family are unable or unwilling to pay for his defense. All of that money being donated could feed thousands of people in real need. The sad fact is that if every homeless or hungry person looked like Luigi, there would no longer be an issue with homelessness and hunger.

In reading through the various posts here I realized that even though I've been to PV and stayed near the Zona Romantica, I never knew it was a gay destination. I suppose I must be more oblivious to things that others notice easily.

So basically, if you find yourself in Thailand you should expect lots of options for Pad Thai and Tom Yum Goong, but if you happen to come across a Trattoria, it doesn't hurt to have some pasta or a slice of pizza instead...

NYTimes: Pastor Journal Entries about Faith and Gay Son
CuriousByNature replied to Rod Hagen's topic in The Lounge
I found the most uplifting aspect of the story to be that sexual orientation and faith are not mutually exclusive matters, and that the father was able to both support his son and expand his own faith experience. And to do so in a way that is benefitting a wider and more diverse demographic than before. -
Will certainly be praying for you and this very rough situation. Are you able to get the police to accompany you to the house in order to retrieve the medications, your phone, and your ring? Perhaps the caseworker can influence the police to work immediately on this? I'm so sorry to hear you are having to deal with all of this. Is there any emergency aid from the place you are taking barber classes? Maybe a bursary based on need, or some kind of student loan to tide you over? Perhaps you have already pursued those avenues, but just a thought in case you haven't. Please don't give up hope, and please keep us posted. 🙏

RM not accepting Visa anymore!? What the actual f$ck?
CuriousByNature replied to BuffaloKyle's topic in The Lounge
It's funny - the one time charge option came up on RMasseur and I was able to upgrade the membership, but it will not come up on Rmen. I've tried a dozen times in the last week, but no luck with either the .eu or regular versions. -

Well, again, welcome to the forum I'm sure you are a lovable guy, just as you say. One thing you'll probably see here is a wide variety of opinions about particular providers, so it's important not to take what is said too personally - even when the negative comments focus on someone you like. Every story and experience has at least two sides to it, and it's pretty rare for anyone discussed here to be universally praised or universally derided. Those who join the conversation to either falsely promote or falsely warn others about someone are normally found out pretty quickly. Looking forward to reading more posts about your experiences that you are willing to share!

I wish the ghost of Jennifer Coolidge's character would make an appearance. Her demise in Season 2 was the saddest loss in TV since Glenn had his head bashed in on The Walking Dead.

I'm assuming from your comments, and your apparent disdain for people beyond a certain age, that you haven't specialized in Gerontology. That was meant as a joke, by the way. Not that he needs any defending, but the original reply made by @mike carey did not read to me as a criticism of you in any way. Yet your subsequent posts here have been pretty insulting and dismissive to people you have never met. There has been a history of trolls on this forum who seem to get great pleasure out of stirring the pot, so to speak, so when a new poster becomes aggressive and insulting to others pretty much from the get-go, it raises red flags all around. Just something to consider...

I never made the connection - I need to pay more attention - lol

I've seen adverts for providers on RM who have indicated in the past that they are Positive/Undetectable, but now they are somehow Negative on PreP. I guess miracles do really happen! LOL. Point being that anyone who engages anyone else is responsible for their OWN health and safety, and needs to plan and make decisions according to the level of risk they are willing to assume.

Thanks @Andy2, but I'm not a moderator, let alone an esteemed one. Just kidding, I know you mean @mike carey

I'm barely 176 years old

Maybe it's due to her character's jet lag in episode 1... lol

Actually, scepticism is an acceptable spelling - particularly in the UK, Australia, and New Zealand. This forum has many members from outside of the USA, so you'll probably find many word spellings you might not be familiar with. An online check for spelling variations can help reduce the likelihood of making unwarranted snarky comments.

Without seeing a photo of you, it's pretty difficult to tell whether or not you're a Daddy....

Yay! I'm finally average!
