I stayed in a hotel a week ago and couldn’t find paper pads and a pen to leave a note with a tip. It was my first hotel stay since Feb 2020, and it didn’t even occur to me that the missing pad was a pandemic precaution. Thanks for mentioning this.

This thread has sent me down a Google rabbit hole where I, too, have noticed the reclamation of “whore,” particularly among sex-positive, woman-identified sex work activists. Lesson learned: Inform myself before posting! I would, however, be curious to hear how the male masseurs and escorts we patronize feel about the word.

My bad. I just saw via Google that some people actually refer to today as International Whore’s Day. I had only heard it referred to as International Sex Workers Day (by people who support those in sex work in various ways). Again, my bad.

Perhaps we could start by not flippantly referring to them as whores. People who engage in various forms of sex work get enough crap as it is.
