Based on a thread in the “Ask An Escort” forum, it doesn’t seem like blissful unawareness is the issue. Rather, some of these guys depend on massage and/or escorting to survive and don’t have access to other funding streams for food, shelter, etc. The off-the-books nature of this work presents challenges when applying for unemployment benefits, and undocumented immigration status probably does as well in some cases.
