I think these terms are very open to interpretation by both parties.

I leave for PV this week. Pinara's evening parties are by far the best. Burgers n Boys was kinda boring. 

I saw 1 new guy from Grindr (visiting from New Zealand $180).  1 new guy from RentMen (visiting from Russia $150).  2 others were regulars I see every year, which are still on Grindr (I paid them the same price I've been paying them for years, $110 and $120).  The highest price was for a guy I found last year on RentMen ($250).  His price went up, but he's worth it so I saw him twice.

No, I don't know why they were shut down. Do you know or are you just making assumptions and stirring the pot? Do you also remember when Hero Spa on W 50th was closed ("busted" as you like to say)? Did other spas get shut down then too? I don't believe so. I'd say you were being a "Debbie Downer" but at least she was funny. There's no need for the doom and gloom. 

Utopia makes it very easy to schedule a massage.  Their website lists who is available at whast time, in 30 minute intervals, and you can schedule several days in advance.  They will send you a confirmation, and then an email reminder 24 hours before your appointment.
I had a really good massage with David, who is from Colombia, who emphasized technical aspects of the massage over erotic elements.  But the massage was so good that I didn't mind an omission or two.  (Yes, HE included.)  Danny is Asian, twinky, and is the reverse of David in what he emphasizes in his massage.

I just had a session at Top Men Spa. The place feels brand new. Very clean and big rooms. I had a massage with Max (after reading other reviews) and the experience was really nice. While leaving I spoke a bit with the guy at the reception and apparently they just opened last week. He also mentioned they have a variety of therapists with different backgrounds. I’ll def go back. 

Moving to the bed after the massage is for a different purpose.   🤪

My first visit to TSMS since pre-Covid. Just walked in. Got Andy (yes another Asian Andy). The guy definitely obliges when you say “I like it strong”. Good thorough session. I was bummed out at first when I saw that we had ended 15 minutes early on a 90 min session but while I was showering he came back in and waited for me to come out. Ushered me back on the table and finished with 15 minutes of arm, feet and scalp massage. Just about fell asleep. Will repeat.

First, you have to remember that the masseur usually gets 1/3 of the price we pay.  $60/hour is standard for spas, so $20 for the masseur isn't much.   I usually tip $60, and despite what Redwine says, I don't think I've being all that generous.   If the massage was just so-so, I  might give only $40.  $20 would be an insult, and I've never done that.
 
If someone told me he tipped $80 or $100, I wouldn't raise an eyebrow (I can't raise just one eyebrow, anyway).  I'd just assume  he had a very good massage!

To be clear, the OP asked for spas and masseurs.  Yes, some of the Adonis guys escort, but for many I do no think the sessions qualify as massages.
OP,  if you want to explore the NYC spa and masseur scene, there are several threads on this forum you can research.  You can message forum members if you have questions about specific posts.  
Pd1_jap is right; do not pay upfront.  
Also, don't grab/grope the masseur.  Wait for signs that they are open to being touched.  Subtlety and "will he or won't he" are part of the game, part of the excitement.
Be clean, polite, and respectful. And tip for good services.  Lots of threads on that topic as well.

YMLV with Mike. I booked him a few weeks ago. One of the worst masseurs at Shangrila in my opinion - Cold and interested. Would not repeat, nor recommend. But if you're into asain guys over 40 he may be your thing. 

Got a tip, Uber can't pick you up at the airport but they can pick you up across the street.   There's a famous taco stand (Marlin) across the street - go there have some tacos and call an Uber, boom!   😁

Tried Mike. Wasn't impressed. He looks like he's in his 50s and not really what I thought he would be. He was eager to do more but I really wasnt into it. Wouldn't repeat. I miss Jorge and Rodrigo.
