Most of the gay hotels where you would be most comfortable entertaining clients are in PS itself, not in towns downvalley, so that is where a client would probably be most comfortable traveling to meet you. There are also more options in downtown PS for places to meet a client before going to a hotel, or to go out with him for dinner or a drink afterwards.

Palm Springs is actually tiny. It starts from i10 at the windmills and ends at Palm Canyon at the brink of the foothills, or something like that.

Now, the Coachella valley itself is spread out, but once you get outside of Palm Springs, the gay fades.

Since you don’t need a specific hotel recommendation, I would just make sure whatever hotel you get, has an address that says Palm Springs . Not Indio, or Palm Desert or Thousand Palms etc. My photo shoot last year was in Cathedral City at my friend’s place, which is a quick skip and hop. That’s actually where the gay guys LIVE versus visit (similar to Miami versus South Beach) So maybe that area is okay. But for the most part, PS proper is where the action is (though I don’t particularly care for all the action that goes on there, but everyone is different)

no expert on the Coachella Valley here, but know a bit.....

do NOT stay in Desert Hot Springs....and don't go east of Palm Desert

some would say there's no specific gayborhood in the area - but, rather, that the entire area is the gayborhood!

I'd guess anywhere along 111 or just north of it, from downtown PS all the way to Palm Desert, would be ok, perhaps staying closer to PS than PD if there's a choice.....avoid the I-10 area - not really convenient as there are high-speed roads closer to the action (the towns) that easily whisk people (clients) around......come to think of it, Palm Desert may be too far east for some

if you're hosting, some of your clients may want the anonymity of one of the huge resorts....and others won't care......you may also want to see if clients can get to your room directly without a key card or other intervening security......

    others may have better ideas.....

Thank you! But, no, that's not at all like confirming white escorts are better than black ones, in fact, I said the exact opposite: even medicore white escorts generally have a better market than the very best black escorts. If someone hears "white privilege and supremacy in American society affords extra benefits to white escorts" as "white escorts are better than black escorts" then I'd guess they're projecting their insecurites, because that's a huge leap in logic.

If I say, "whites receieve preferential treatment in the American criminal justice system" that does not equal "whites are better people than nonwhites." Not even close.

As to specific citations, no. If I was keen to persuade or convince, yes. But I'm not. People are free to believe whatever they want. I am speaking to what I know from what I observe. You may be an exception, but exceptions and outliers do not change the general rule. In general, white escorts have a more favorable market than black ones.

Are you having a contest with yourself to see how many ridiculous, outdated stereotypes you can cram into one thread lol? Most teenagers these days have a more realistic and nuanced understanding of sexuality and the tired 1950s-era tropes you assign to them. I mean, good grief haha

This. Tho I wouldn't describe it as strong vs weak, but committed vs noncommitted, as you were getting at with if we want to continue. I think, pretty quickly, providers and clients who are less committed to escorting will get out of it. I fall into that group. I've ocassionally planned for transitioning out of escorting; those plans will now accelerate exponentially.

I think the committed guys will get back into footwork, like I did last month as new leads crawled to a halt. Although I did make's last months bills and this month's rent, it's not for me. One, the ease of escorting due to advertising online was a big perk as it turns out, freeing up time to pursue outside interests (like getting an advanced degree). Working hotels, bars, etc required so much extra time I view it as losing money. Based on the time it took, I could make more money working fewer hours in a more traditional job -- without the stigma, the legal exposure, and the safety risks -- with time to spare to build a fitness business on the side. So that's the route I'm taking, as I phase out my regulars.

For me it's a door opening. I also got a hint last month a couple of guys I came close to dating, who both suddenly lost interest and friendzoned me, did so because I was escorting. So I'm taking all of it as a sign to move on. There was a point near the end of the Rentboy era when I was making so much money (2-4 clients a day in 30-35 flexible hours a week including advertising, marketing etc) I could absorb the losses. For me now, escorting is not lucrative enough anymore to be worth its costs: psychologically, socially, timewise, or professionally.

I don't feel you should offer concessions for telling the truth, based on someone else's negativity or insecurity. You were right, after all. You said directly what I tried to say indirectly. I avoided using the word "race" because it can be triggering for some. Many white guys who have earned success legtimately by working hard do not like hearing that their race has also afforded them extra luck in certain situations.

The problem when talking about privilege is that it refers to a state of controlled variables, where all else is equal. And in real life, no two person's situations are ever equal -- too many variables. So there are always exceptions, but in general, yes, nonwhite escorts have a weaker market due to cultural forces outside our control. The existence of a small percentage of clients who prefer nonwhite escorts does not come close to filling that gap.

My point earlier was young, fit/muscular, white escorts are generally doing better in this crisis than young, fit/muscular, nonwhite escorts of equal attractiveness and business savvy. Because they have always done better. Echoing your words, the hottest 10/10 black providers I know (handsome face, great body and personality, awesome reviews) have never made as much in terms of market rate, overnights and multihour appointments, travel, gifts as even white escorts I'd consider a 7/10, let alone the very best 10/10 white guys. Sean's name has come up a lot with my clients as a great provider (I got a few of his regulars when he "retired") and like you say, even with his porn star boost he does not command what his white peers do.

So before dismissing other escorts' money worries, or blaming them for their woes, consider that not all of us were having the same experience even before the latest setback. It is what it is.

I made that point. It's not relevant to what his revelations on the forum tell us about how he conducts his business, which in actuality seems to result in whatever random rate a client can get him to agree to.

I will also speak about the elephant in the room: his race is a factor in all this. He is going to be pressured to negotiate rates, won't be offered the same opportunities for travel and overnights as others, and will be stereotyped and fetishized (per his complaints about being asked if he can be aggressive). That's a huge burden to deal with and requires more than the usual amount of business savvy and a thick skin to put up with. The only Black escort I can think of to successfully negotiate this path is Sean Xavier, and at least part of the reason why is his porn career.

My friend, beyond disagreements with any particular escorts, do not underestimate race. I do not think @quoththeraven is saying that race is the issue that explains everything, she just says it is a factor. I think you do know she is right. Bringing her example here, why do you think Alam Wernik, unknown one year ago, can price himself at 600 the hour but Sean only at half of that, after years of being a top porn star and escort?
Demand for white guys is just higher. The review that broke all the hits records in my blog was about a White escort. Even when the followers of my blog know my preferences, and you would expect share them, my traffic rocketed with this White guy, waaaaay above everyone else, and he is not even a porn star or very popular.

Yeah in terms of my own business, things are pretty dire. All of my income right now is from regulars -- not enough to cover bills. But I'm viewing it as an sign to get out of escorting. Not going down with this ship, I'm building a life boat from these deck chairs.

I think that's presumptuous. If you're an escort who, because of your look or demographic, are booking multiple clients a day, overnights regularly, and getting flown to and fro that is a privilege, all else being equal, and maybe you're a little better off in this crisis. Other escorts may only get 3-4 clients a week and have seen even that dry up. Just assuming that every escort is doing well financially, and that if they're not it's because they've personally done something wrong, is lacking in perspective.

Mmm, this may be a statement from a position of privilege. A lot of guys are really struggling right now, seemingly overnight, and really wondering if they're going be able to afford their rents in 20 days.

That may not be true of certain escorts who have always done well financially for various reasons, or who have a look that is popular anyway and thus have a bigger financial cushion or larger pool of regulars to pull from. If you're a member of of the less popular demographics when it comes to hiring, you may be quite bit more economically vulnerable. Staring homelessness in the face, all of a sudden, is not something to be taken lightly.
