Santa Fe's housing prices, while never cheap,  have skyrocketed since the pandemic. It's now an expensive place to live.
As a former resident, these observations:
* Anglo Santa Fe's population skews toward older people, and toward couples.  My younger friends there refer to New Mexico as the "Land of Entrapment".
* Access to health care can be iffy. A common topic at cocktail parties is for people to discuss how they leave the state (for Mayo/Scottsdale, or MD Anderson, as examples) for many procedures.
* Access to basic service providers can be frustrating. A plumber? Good luck. Getting an appointment honored? Maybe.
* If you enjoy air travel, you'll shlep to ABQ, but even then your non-stop choices are few. Get used to dealing with transit through DFW, among others.
* It's an early-to-bed town. The sidewalks roll up by 8:30pm.
* A goodly percentage of the population are part-time residents....predominantly wealthy Texans who flee Houston in the summer. 
* Santa Fe has never been known as a well-run city. Getting home renovation plans approved now can take a very long time....and only if within the city's very narrow guidelines.
* Once the opera and chamber music seasons end in mid/late August, cultural life slows to a trickle. 
 
Yes, the climate can be wonderful. Ditto the restaurants, albeit at a cost. The full-time residents are decently friendly. But know what you're getting into.

A few “degree of separation” things:
-back in my “straight” days, my then gf worked for PepsiCo and we had a luxe day at the 1988 Rose Bowl. OJ was sitting in the row in front of us and we had a very brief and pleasant conversation with him pre-game. I believe USC lost to the Big Ten opponent.

I wouldn't consider it an intuitive business model to try to get a deposit AFTER a missed meeting.
It's the reason you ask for the deposit beforehand.  It's incentive-based collateral to make someone keep their schedule.
If a client flakes, he flakes.  If the excuse is an understandable one, you make the call as to giving him another shot.

I haven't done my own taxes for many years, because they are so much more complicated than they were when I was young and single and my only income came from my employer. So I took all my documents to our tax CPA's office and handed them over. Yesterday I got an email from the accountant's office, but there were so many attachments and things that I was supposed to do to e-file, that I just called their office this morning and asked them to please print everything up so we could just come in and sign papers with a pen, and write them a check or hand them a credit card. They were very nice about it, and we are going in to sign and seal everything this afternoon. (We started using them several years ago because they quickly developed a local reputation for being very friendly toward same-sex married couples.)

I mainly hire for massages - which is cheaper than escorts. I classify it as “Wellness” in my budgeting tool.  Total annual expense is less than 5% of my gross income. I dont follow your logic. If a legit provider does not have good management skils they should not ask for deposits - a deal is a deal; if you take the deposit you show up at the appointed time. If you cant be there on time you return the deposit. If you don’t, you are not legit in my opinion, and are a rip off.
