As an IT professional, I find it annoying that these systems do not work better for the users. There is little or no reason both cannot exist, and work well. Email and IM systems are fairly mature, meaning they can be used on sites like this without the difficulties being experienced, even "out of the box". I know, because I've done it - initial and subsequent notifications going out in a timely manner.

Neighbors participating will place a stuffed bear somewhere visible from the sidewalk - in a tree, a window, etc, and parents with little kids can walk them around to hunt bear and report success on Facebook.

If it's someone you just met, I wouldn't ask. Sure there are escorts who are an open book and will answer almost anything you ask of them. However, I think this question from someone you don't know is rather intrusive.

1. Use their preferred method of contact. If they prefer text, text them.
2. Tell them you saw their post on "RM" (I suggest initials - a lot have day jobs so it obscures a bit)
3. Say you would like to get together, and ask when plans could be made.
4. Know what you want, go for guys who like the same. If you want kissing, be sure kissing is in the profile.
5. When arranging, tell them anything special, such as "this would be my first time with an escort".
6. Be concise without being terse.
7. Follow the escorts lead if they go for longer conversation.
8. Agree to reasonable requests, say a phone call. Do not give money before. Skype if you are comfortable.
9. After making arrangements, confirm reasonably. The day before, the morning of, and an hour or so before is reasonable. I use "I look forward to visiting tomorrow/this evening/when I arrive in an hour".
10. If they confirm to you, reply as soon as you reasonably can.
11. Keep the appointment. This is important. Even if you don't go through with it, go meet him, and offer the full fee. He has invested time in this. He will understand if you get nervous.
12. Before the appointment, shower up, if you will bottom, douche. Leave off cologne.
13. If it's your first time, tell him you're nervous (if you are), ask him to take the lead.
14. Tell him what you're interested in.
15. Tell him if you like or don't like something.
16. Remember he's a person, be polite, and he's doing something very nice for you.
17. Honor his time. When it's over, it's over.

If they put the dates in, sometimes it means I can arrange my schedule to see a provider I might miss otherwise. I agree - it doesnt have to be awkward. I will make eye contact, give a quick smile and then break eye contact. At that point the ball is in the escort’s court, so to speak. Sometimes he comes over for a quick hello. Other times he just goes about his business. ?
