I get credit cards, always pay off at end of the month. Airline travel cards, need to spend a certain amount of money in 3 months. Usually get a new airline credit card right before Halloween, then do typical holiday shopping, pay off at end of week, and get full reward points from the airline. I’m going to try KLM Air France card this season. 

if i hear an outrageous rate, i simply say 
"i have XXX to spend" ... let them figure it out

One thing I like about big banks is that I travel a lot and it's easier to find their branches and ATMs and most big banks have an investment division.   I'm getting aroudn 4.5% on my money market at my bank which isn't the greatest return but at least if I want to make a stock purchase I can transfer it to my investment account right away and make the trade.  And an investment account factors into the composite balance for fee waivers.
Suze Orman did a podcast yesterday on 30 year treasury bonds.   Thinking of doing dollar cost averaging into those like she suggested.   I've doing four 30 day t-bill ladders so I have on maturing each week   It's paying a little over five percent and I get the money in my bank account as soon as it matures and I live in a state with a high state tax and it's nice the interest is tax free

My lawyer recomended against it and told me him and his husband (also a lawyer) both have revcoable living trusts and thats how he set mine up.
For a trust to protect your assets against medicaid, it has to be irrevocable and you have to have someone else as a trustee.   I don't want my parents in their 80s to deal with it and I'll probably outlive them and don't want my sister (who is on disability) doing it and if I have the bank as the trustee it will mean paying them 10% of my net worth for a fee each year
My parents have that kind of trust (they are past the five year look back) and I'm their trustee and if they go to sell their house I have to sign off on the deed, they moved some investments around and I had to sign and when they sold the gas company an easement last year I had to sign on that.   I don't want anyone having to deal with my investments.

Yes, the big money center banks are starting to lose deposits to higher rate alternatives elsewhere but it's not a major problem for them so far.  It's amazing how many people don't care if their getting 0.10% on their money.  It's important to at least try to keep up with inflation, you would think.

Agree.   I looked at my SSA earnings statement the other day and if I am disabled today my monthly payment will be a lot more than if I retire at 62 and only a little less than if I retire at 67   Crazy since I won't be working all those years if I were disabled.   Of course if I was on disability I'd hae to spend down all my assets first

First time I noticed this overseas, but I used an ATM in London a couple weeks ago and like a lot of credit card terminals, it gave me the option to have the charge done in british pounds or $USD.    The exchange rate was absurd.   I chose pounds and the amount charged by my bank on 300 pounds was almost $60US less than what the atm quoted me in $USD.   

Same for my Chase Sapphire Account.  I think any major US bank offers a premium checking account that allows international ATM withdrawals without charging a fee and does the transaction at the prevailing foreign exchange rate at the time.   Easy peasy.   Even if you're only going to Canada and/or Mexico 2-3 times per year, this is much better than changing money at airports or foreign exchange offices.  Obviously just my 2 cents.

I ended up meeting him and my experience wasn't that great.
