I do consider I might lose out on a client or two, but I think the net would be positive for me spiritually and taking into consideration the cost savings I mentioned.

If I were finding that your concern was spot on, I could always end the experiment and fly solo.

Once I return to the US, I am planning to tour extensively in some smaller/medium-sized markets. I’ve been thinking a lot about the idea of traveling with another provider, to cut down on various costs / share driving / have a person for duos available / film content / cam/ workout partner / and because frankly it can get a bit isolating / boring being in some smaller places waiting between appts.

I am trying to avoid flying as much as possible and will be doing bus / train / car to get from place to place. I’m a tree hugger, what can I say? ??‍♂️

I will start mid/end of October and hope to be doing this for a good while and can be pretty flexible without a 9-5

For anyone who is in this for the long term, and who cares about his reputation and repeat business, you keep the commitment and maybe try to move the other potential appointment to another time/date. Even if you offered the +100 guy to meet later at the normal rate, by taking both clients you’re ending up way ahead and possibly adding multiple people to your regular roster of clients, too.

Flaking is just bad for business and will not justify the extra money right now...

As I see it, the business practice in question is the provider agreeing to a meeting the provider has no intention of keeping as a way to punish someone who said they didn't want to pay the full rate. It might seem immature, but if it gets people to change their ways, maybe the guy thinks it's effective? At the very least, it likely means you won't contact him again.

 

If you've read some of my posts, you know I drop communication as soon as it's anything is not working out. If someone responds to me with anything that doesn't work for me, I don't write back. Not because I don't know that saying thank you is polite but because I respect the guys enough to not put messages in their inbox that aren't going anywhere. They all get more than enough of that, and I am sure that if they even notice I didn't reply, they might actually think better of me for it. I'm going to say that when you included "That is beyond my budget." in your reply, while we can assume good faith and that it is true, saying this to him is unnecessary editorialization. By explicitly mentioning it, you invited a followup question, and when you responded to that with a lower number and then agreeing to a meeting when he accepted your lower number, you were haggling, while literally saying you weren't trying to haggle. He decided to mess with you in a clumsy fashion, the "rate + $100" kicker was his unnecessary editorialization on your number. Just my thoughts, nothing personal.

I went to Target today to by some rolls of paper towels. They had an entire aisle of "select-a-size" but not a single package of "full sheet." 2) rental costs / real estate has exploded
