I think this basically comes down to what your disposable income is for most folks and what you are comfortable paying for, whether it be an escort or a restaurant meal. These are both luxuries in a way, especially if the restaurants are not just mom and pop establishments or fast food outlets.
 
Also at play is the occasion you are marking. For both a meal or an escort, if you are celebrating something special like a birthday, you are more likely to splurge. Same if you are on vacation and visiting a different place far from home.
 
I hire frequently and often for overnights or entire evenings of say 3 or 4 hours. I expect to pay at least 1000$ and a meal or two thrown in. That’s just me. Sometimes I’ll settle for a 1 hour quickie. I consider $250 to $350 the usual fee I will consider. This thread made me curious about my number and how long I’ve had it... my oldest text was Oct 30, 2017. Not too bad. I’ve given it to, probably, about 75 professional escorts and had maybe 2-3 dustups in this time where there was some strong disagreement about something but no one has ever stalked me or threatened to drive by my house. When I’m thinking about meeting someone I always check out their number. It’s almost always a virtual number of some kind and it doesn’t bother me at all, just like no matches on a reverse image lookup. It’s just one of many datapoints. If I were an escort I’d absolutely have a couple of numbers at least... one I publish in my profile and a second that I give to trusted regulars in case I have to burn the first one.

Yes, this is exactly why - they can't run a background check on you or otherwise coerce/threaten (or worse) which is what some of them will do with the information they obtain from your real phone. It's also so totally one sided, as these same people won't be giving you their real numbers and will be the first to call you out for invasion of their privacy if you even considered doing with the number what they are doing.
 
All it takes is one escort to out right blackmail you with your own personal information and you will learn the hard way (like me) to never ever give it out to anyone you don't trust. Don't make a decision you will regret for life and protect your privacy at all costs. If they won't respect your privacy, move on to another that will.
 
Finally, never abuse your private number to screw over an escort (i.e. make an appointment, no show, and ghost them). Mutual respect and protecting your reputation goes a long way as a client. For example, I have been a RM client over 10 years, give positive or constructive feedback only in RM reviews, and always show up, cancel with notice, or come to a mutually agreeable solution if it is possible to work out any other issue. I was clear at the outset on what my needs were and when I expected them to be met. Similarly, I helped the young man define his needs and goals by discussing how I could help him. I found the experience delightful because I enjoy the company of polite, well-educated and attractive young men.
 
The surprises to me were threefold:
1. I had to set boundaries early on with one man. I explained that I wasn't a parent and so I was not obliged to take care of everything for him.
2. I had not realised how much and how often young men eat (and drink) when they are physically active.

It's a double standard that the public often refuses to recognize.
