My favorite Bruce LaBruce movie, thank you for posting it. Absolute favorite scene was when the blonde hustler's getting fucked by six guys, which should be an experience of a lifetime, and his beeper goes off in the middle of it, so he returns the call flat on his back, like it's nothing. We do these amazing things when we are young and totally take them for granted at the time, like the main star Tony Ward who probably took it in stride when briefly he was in Madonna's orbit. He was in Hillbilly Elegy not that long ago, he looks good. https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1417207/mediaviewer/rm3251518464/?ref_=nm_ov_ph

NY State Lawmakers Propose Allowing Sex in Bathhouses Again
Rod Hagen replied to Luv2play's topic in The Lounge
I went to the BathHouses in LA when I was young and they broke up any public displays, telling the gentlemen to go to their rooms instead. Presumably it's the same around the US in whichever BHs are still operating. -
The Shards-Staring Richard Gere's Son
Rod Hagen replied to Rod Hagen's topic in TV and Streaming services
I was 14 or 15 when the movie Less Than Zero came out, so I had to stay on the farm with its poptones and its pale kings / And its fences like knives, for a few more years. Oddly, I didn't read the book right after the movie, the first BEE I read was a few years later, American Psycho, in the UMN library because I didn't want the Librarian to see me checking it out. You bet, enjoy -
The Shards-Staring Richard Gere's Son
Rod Hagen replied to Rod Hagen's topic in TV and Streaming services
Did any movie ever make midwesterners want to run to the ocean and surrender their lives as desperately as Less Than Zero did? I don't think so. :-) Yes, these actors are lightweights, still recommend the show so far. Since you're a fan you should briefly pay for BEE's current podcast, catch some of the more important interviews like when he made William Friedkin (The Exorcist) cry, and definitely go back and listen to his original reedings of the Shards during Lockdown, so great. -
Gays, Porsches, Mercedes convertibles, Death Cults, mountains of Coke, and Serial Killers, that's 1981 LA Highschool for you. Anyone here watching? It's pretty good. I stopped subscribing to his excellent podcast a couple years ago, but Bret Easton Ellis must have been over the moon when he learned he was going to work with Ryan Murphy on the adaptation of his novel. I can't imagine anyone better suited to work with Brett. I've always been a fan of Brett, bugs the shit out of me that I've never bumped into him around the neighborhood. He must only ever leave his condo by car. Richard Gere's son looks NOTHING like his dad. After the two episodes available, and having listened to it as it was released on his podcast during lockdown, I recommend it.

NY State Lawmakers Propose Allowing Sex in Bathhouses Again
Rod Hagen replied to Luv2play's topic in The Lounge
This article confused me as I seem to remember hearing about a bathhouse on 8th or 9th in the 20s in Chelsea 20 years ago, West Side Boys or something like that. Am I misremembering? -
Amanvari, new ultraluxury hotel in the Cabo area
Rod Hagen replied to + azdr0710's topic in The Travel Desk
Maybe Ryan milked it for the video drama, but it seems pretty clear that they canceled his reservation last minute, unacceptable, did so because he's a reviewer staying there when they just opened but are charging full price, unacceptable, and the manager would not come out to talk to hm nor take his calls, unacceptable. I wonder how long they can get away with blaming him coming to the wrong gate. This is fun. :-). Why isn't Benjamin Nichols in this thread? He knows more about Aman Resorts than any of us. -

I'm guessing there is more to it, I'm skeptical as well. Additionally, if you read the Luxury Forums, Aman's behavior as a brand has gone way downhill, so maybe they're partly to blame. I certainly don't believe that he hadn't read his cancelation email before arrival. Being an influencer, likely he salivated at the expected confrontation. -
I wish Rentboy was on the Internet Archive, but last time I tried it wasn't. :-(

Is this real? I looked him up and it seems his retired Military Intelligence and a History Teacher!

What / When is considered loss of virginity for a gay man?
Rod Hagen replied to Wings246's topic in The Lounge
For me I think of my first passionate makeout rolling around on the floor, clothed with lots of groping as virginity 1, Getting Blown V 2, Fucking V 3, getting fucked Virginity 4. I took SO MANY men's Virginity 1, 2, and 4, and I'm very very glad I could do that for them. That is the greatest privilege I found in escorting: that I had a solid reputation as perfectly-suited for a man's First Time. -

That's amazing. AMAZING. Not because they were fancy, but because I enjoyed their aesthetic, locations, and approach, I stayed at many Amans in the years before they were $1000s/night, and while I know there has been lots of discussion about how much the brand has changed in the last 10+ years, after some buyout or something like that, for any hotel at any price-point, for any business at all, to be stupid enough to do this to someone with an iPhone and an internet connection, so to anyone, much less a confirmed guest, is unbelievable stupid. WOW. Further discussion if this kind of thing interests you: Scroll down to yesterday: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/luxury-hotels-travel/2151318-amanresorts-thread-2024-onwards-40.html and also: Reddit, of course (conversation locked now, lame). -

Or in the 70s and 80s and our multiple carrying cases of cassette tapes on the floor behind the driver's seat.

State of the industry (2026): So many Ads, not enough hits
Rod Hagen replied to JB_Studio38's topic in Questions About Hiring
Stolen from the movie Clerks: "This job would be great if it wasn't for the fuckin' customers." -
Definitely ask, and be very specific. Instead of asking about "passionate" kissing I would ask specifically "Deep open-mouthed kissing with lots of tongue, is that something you like to do too, cause I sure do?" because there are people out there who will pretend that barely opened-mouth kissing is "passionate" kissing. It's intimate, it may be preferred, but it's more than a stretch to call it passionate.

State of the industry (2026): So many Ads, not enough hits
Rod Hagen replied to JB_Studio38's topic in Questions About Hiring
When this forum started in 1999, plenty of posters would have categorized an escort in his 30s as being over the hill. I remember frequent poster and reviewer Marc Anthony calling escorting after 25: Stunted Development. So, there's been some Progress. -
Just saw this. In over 20 years of working I only raised my rate 4 times. In the very beginning from $800 to $1000 for an overnight (not long after that I had to stop doing overnights after my Partner requested it) and hourly in the beginning from $200 to $220 and then, after many many many years, $220 to $250. Lastly, my massage rate was a very very low $85 for a very very long time, I was undercutting everyone and I was also a very good masseur. I never loved massage the way I loved escorting, so I raised it to $140, hoping that was close enough to $220 for most/many to choose escorting instead. In each of those cases I never raised the rates on those men I'd been seeing for a long time and especially not those I saw regularly. As much as your regulars love you, they have complicated lives and a small increase anyone can afford may be what they rationalize to stop hiring.. Best to stay consistent if you want to keep them. That was just my approach.

Not for me, but I thought "SilverDollar" was a pretty clever handle for a guy who seemed to be fairly wealthy and liked to hire very young guys. Wonder whatever happened to him.

Repatha is fantastic. Personally I look forward to the biweekly prick of my Repatha and my Dupixent (asthma), some people just refuse to use an injectable, so this pill is good news. Hopefully medicare will cover it fully quickly, that's a problem with Repatha.

No just siteSee. Oh shit, is this the wrong forum? Can someone move it to the right one please? THANKS!

When Video Rental Stores were really getting popular, employees often received a few shelves to display their favorites and recommendations for a month. When I was 10, 11, or 12, I remember frequently walking by the shelf, presumably assembled by one of the few openly, or at least somewhat openly, gay men in North Dakota around 1983, displaying this movie. I didn't know exactly what was going on, but innately I could sense that if I rented it my life would change. I did not. Too scared
