    all very good, practical advice.....

but I have a feeling this family feels entitled to live an extravagant lifestyle (two expensive vehicles, lots of eating out, $1.5 million home, gas) and making reasonable cuts like this would hurt......and $9500/year for "non-fancy" clothes is still "fancy"

NYC is a difficult market to crack and a rewarding market to succeed in. Anyone who wants to move here to establish themselves as an escort should expect to struggle.

I think you have two realistic options unless you’re sitting on a bunch of savings you can use to fund your life until business picks up:

    1) Minimise your expenses in NYC. This means don’t get your own apartment in Manhattan. Rent a cheap bedroom or a friend’s couch and establish some regular clients before you stick yourself with a huge monthly rent. NYC is expensive as hell and the market is oversaturated. Looks do not guarantee quick success... it takes lots of time and consistency to build a solid client base. You can use apps like Recharge or websites like DayUse to book hotel rooms to host Incalls. Having your own Incall apartment in NYC is living the gay hooker dream, and it’s definitely not amateur territory unless you have a lot of money to invest while your business builds.

    2) Get a day job. Use the income from your day job to get that dreamy HK studio that’s perfect for Incall. Escort on the side until you have a good amount of clients. Then quit your day job when the time is right. Ta-da! You’re now a full-time escort in NYC...

If that is gross income, after taxes, one can afford to live in Manhattan under these general conditions: you will need a roommate (or 2), or you'll live in a studio in a relatively undesirable location. You'll need to budget and would benefit from making some thrifty choices like cooking at home vs eating out, subway/bus vs taxi. You won't be going on any extravagant vacations or saving tons of money, but you can survive.

@JamieDelRey - first, welcome! i hope you'll enjoy the forum. so you know where i'm coming from, i live in nyc. i've lived here for 12+ years and have been escorting for about 3 years. i would take what @hypothetically said seriously. i admire your gumption, but attempting to move to nyc and start escorting is taking on a lot. moving to nyc is difficult - it's fast and expensive and even if you think you're ready for life here, it's still a shock and it takes a year or so to really feel like you've got the hang of things. you'll get lost, food will cost way more than you think. you'll feel lonely, it's loud and there are people everywhere. then, there's starting an escorting business - especially if you want that to be your sole source of income. there are more than 500+ guys here - it takes work, travel, and time to build up a reputation, which is how you keep your business going.

i do think it's worth doing some exploring, though. first, i would recommend participating in this forum. it's a great group of people and will help you find answers to questions, and let us get to know who you are. if you don't have an ad, i would suggest making one and linking to it in your signature, like you'll see i did below. then, i would make a trip to nyc - let us know about it in the "escort travel" section, tweet it out, put it on your ad/site/blog/whatever - then come here and see how it all works out.

i would love you to succeed and be here one day. i just don't want you to bite of more than you can chew and end up thinking that you failed when you're struggling or can't make rent or don't have clientele. moving to nyc is hard as fuck, but soooo worth it, and totally doable. it's not personal, it's just challenging. same with escorting. if you take your time, work consistently, and keep going, you can totally do it.

IIRC, this is the last escort @RexB hired before Rex decided to retire from hiring. Unfortunately Rex has deleted his account.

Rex reviewed Jesse this past August with a 5 star review. Pictures matched & recommended.

Rex was a long time member & a highly trusted reviewer.

However, Rex was only interested in doing two specific things with an escort.

If I were you, I would contact Jesse to see if he can provide what you're looking for.

Excellent piece in today’s LA Times (by the theater critic) on script-derived problems with CMBYN (and Three Billboards):

“But the love story between Elio and Oliver, the visiting student, is hampered by the casting of Armie Hammer, who resembles not so much a budding archaeologist with a deep knowledge of philology but a junior associate at Goldman Sachs with a wad of traveler's checks in his preppy shorts. Hammer's Oliver seems too old, too confident and too blunt for the delicate affair whipped up for him.

The erotic adventure of the young men is art-directed to be poetic (secret foot massages!) rather than convincingly candid. "Call Me by Your Name" wants to depict sexuality given a furlough from societal prohibitions, but the film would rather not delve into the psychology of the closet. Identity politics needn't be rigidly brought into the story, but sexuality and selfhood seem to have only a passing acquaintance here. It's a fantasy for those afraid of their fantasies.

.... More problematic is the handling of Elio's father (played by Michael Stuhlbarg with his dependable dexterity), who lives vicariously through his son's sexual awakening. He has been supervising Elio's sentimental education like a paternal, voyeuristic Flaubert.

Near the end of the film after Oliver has returned home, Professor Perlman passes along some sage words to his son about treasuring the quickly fading springtime of passion. "Call Me by Your Name" would rather generalize this romantic wisdom than explore its neurotic origins in the professor's walled off homoerotic desire. Perlman lives in a morgue of good living that the movie confuses with timeless philosophy.

All the sexy cinematography is ultimately a subterfuge, a mythological screen to divert attention from a more shadowy story of cowardice and compromise. The endless scrutiny of Chalamet's face as it shades from innocence to experience through the pain of loss makes for a striking finale. But the profundity of "Call Me by Your Name" is shallow. The house is full of books and literary references are strewn about like confetti, but the overriding sensibility is more decorative than dramatic — Merchant-Ivory for the age of Instagram.”

I think the review is exactly right (and bound to be a minority opinion!).

You might want to consider consulting with a plaintiff-side employment lawyer in the area where you worked. They can tell you what realistic expectations are, whether you have a claim worth pursuing, and the various avenues open to you, such as an EEOC complaint process, a state employment discrimination process, or other avenues. Many will offer a free consultation, although whether the good ones where you are, I can't say. If you can get a free consultation, which is usually 30 minutes to an hour, you should present yourself well, have any relevant paperwork organized, and be prepared to give a coherent capsule summary of what happened in very concrete, linear chronology. Including the parts that might not be favorable to you. Good luck!

My response is similar. I smile and say I don’t do that, but I’m happy to show you I have the money for you in an envelope that you can pick up afterwards. (I always put the envelope in a visible spot in the bedroom)

FWIW I’ve only been asked to pay upfront 2x over the years: one guy was useless in bed, essentially a rip-off; and the other guy was beautiful to look at but lackluster in performance. So to me, being asked to pay upfront is a strong adverse signal.

The first time I meet someone I’ve already done enough due diligence to be satisfied that not only is there virtually no risk of any sort of defrauding but also that the gentleman has a sincere intent that we have a great time together.

Put another way, I’m filtering based on “how will I feel after spending time with this person” rather than physical appearance and if I don’t have a good emotional vibe to begin with then it never gets to a point where I’m uncomfortable.

I did have one occasion a couple of years ago when I paid upfront and regretted it. All the warning signs were there and it was purely foolish, wishful thinking that prevented me from walking away when he opened the door.

Recently, I visited someone for the first time and heard “How about we get the money part taken care of so we can focus on each other” in the first few minutes. I hesitated for a split second but given that I was standing in his living room and had a good feeling I pulled the envelope out of my pocket and handed it to him and it quickly disappeared into his gym bag. Since then I’ve seen him almost weekly and even started including the tip with the time donation I drop on his desk as soon as I walk in

It goes in the owner’s pocket. I have no idea what he does with it. The city of Atlanta doesn’t give out new licenses for adult clubs. They haven’t given a new adult club license in 20-30 years. So the existing ones are golden. There are maybe 20 adult clubs. Richards is the only gay one. I think it was 6 or 7 years ago one of the straight clubs changed over. It was called Bliss. Matt Colunga even managed it for a while until the owner at Richards hired him back. Bliss did well for a while. But it was a smaller club and Richards didn’t really seem to be impacted very much. When Matt left... the quality of the dancers fell off and bliss converted back to a straight club.

A couple of things from someone who is a “regular” of the club. The video is not a good advertisement or representation of the club.

Most of the video was shot in 2009. Thats 10 years ago. Dustin, a dancer whose death was spoken of in the video died in the summer of 2009. The ‘movie’ started out as a concept for a reality TV show. It never went anywhere. Most of the dancers wanted nothing to do with it. Many of the dancers come from conservative homes. There is a reason the Deep South is known as the Bible Belt. There were probably 10 to 20 really hot guys working st the time that refused to be a part of it. So basically, you had the attention whores who were convinced they were going to get fame and money.

As for some of the guys

Dallas: still there. He’s actually aged well if you liked his look. I never had a thing for him but he’s actually a nice guy.
Matthew: I spit my drink out laughing when he said he “slept mostly with women.” I think the only time he’s ever touched vagina was when he was born. He left Atlanta and for a time was the DJ st floppy roosters.
Pierce: must have been having a bad week or month. He was hot, very sexy and he didn’t look up to his usual standards In the film. He was smart. Never understood how he got caught up in the film. He got an education and I’m told is doing very well.
Shawn: he’s the guy that talked about how the money had gone down. This is the same shit every dancer talks about when they lose the “new meat” factor and/or lose some of their regulars. As a point of reference I was there Saturday night and one of my favorites was disappointed he had only made $600 as of midnight. So much for no money...Oh and this “favorite” of mine isn’t new but has been dancing for 4 years. To be fair, he is smoking hot and one of the best looking guys in the club now. PS - there is another dancer named Sean at Richards now... he’s been there since about 2010.
Stephen - he was 40 plus years old when the film was done. He was a nice guy, attractive for some people but not really what you would expect appearance wise from a dancer. As the film mentioned he disappeared and was found dead. The official report said foul play wasn’t suspected.... but I never understood why.
Matt Colunga - he was the DJ/Manager. A bit moody at times but he was good and did a good job of recruiting talent. I haven’t been to his new cub in Florida (Johnson’s) but have heard good things.

The bottom line is the film does not give you a great picture of what you can expect at Swinging Richards. I’ve been to almost every strip cub and many gogo dancer clubs. Outside of Montreal Swinging Richards is the best you will find. The warning I would give is that they do have “off”nights... especially during the week. The weekends are almost always pretty good.

He is not a good person. He puts on a very nice front for some of you, I suppose, but I know him to be a verbally abusive person who has abused substances to an unhealthy degree; I believe the latter informs the former. The latter is less something I judge him for than something that conjures a modicum of sympathy in me toward him. He has completely bought into a lifestyle and attitude that he previously satirized to great effect--this is undoubtedly the very reason so many people fell for him in the first place. I simply cannot imagine funding someone with his habits when they seem directly detrimental to his humanity.
