I've traveled extensively in Africa. There is a lot of bigotry from region to region, especially in Islamic North Africa about being associated with native black African cultures. So this doesn't surprise me. Also Cleopatra isn't some ancient myth. We know very well who she was and who is included in her family tree. Definitely not a black woman.

I've only been to the Eagle once or twice...but my impression of the whole leather / denim scene is that it is rather centered around a very specific segment of gay culture. Some sex parties also have a specific demographic. ( Piss Party for College boys or the Brooklyn Thug Party which is strictly for men of color) In my experience most of the big parties tend to be a mix of people. Not that you're going to find everyone is into everyone. I remember a young black fellow at Lou Marotta's Loft parties who was one of the most beautiful men I've ever met. Sadly told me, he was only attracted to other black men. 😥 To each, his own. No one likes rejection but if you don't try you're guaranteed to fail.

I went to the CVS near me yesterday. The Christmas decorations are out on the shelves. All the Santas for sale are black. Even though there's barely any black people living in my neighborhood. Inclusion is great but sometimes it's silly.

Exactly. Too many people think sexuaity is black and white. If you step outside your neighborhood gay bar you'd discover the world comes in a wide array of shades. I've don't assume a "straight" guy is unavailable because I've made my mistakes in the past and others were more clever, jumped in, and got what I wanted instead.

It's possible. I haven't been back to the 'burgh for several years. But I can't imagine the market has drastically changed. I always found it odd considering Pittsburgh has a sizable gay community. I just assumed that everyone just marries and settles down and forgets about their wilder days. I've never been able to play the monogamy game myself.
