  1. A year ago I booked him in Palm Springs. He was in LA and had already planned to visit PS while I was there. I confirmed twice and again the night before. Then he disappeared.I spent the next day trying to reach him. Finally, that evening, 2 hours before our appointment, he texted me back to say that he had missed his plane and wasn't coming. I replied, OK fine. Don't mind that he cancelled. Mind very much that he didn't bother to let me know he was cancelling. If I hadn't spent a day tracking him down, he would have been a no show. Not impressed. That said, he looks great and has a great reputation, which is why I hired him in the first place.

  2. I have booked a trip to northern Vermont at the end of July, long standing plans to visit friends. Had planned on spending a long weekend in Montreal, specifically to visit Stock and Campus. Depending on circumstances re COVID-19 between now and July, I am thinking that a stay over in Montreal may be pointless. I assume the clubs are under lock down (Don't know the situation there.) now. I am not optimistic about mid-summer. Right now you can't even get into Canada. Good chance the whole trip will be called off. I am concerned that when the crisis passes, the government(s) will sieze the opportunity to crack down on strip joints and sex clubs.

  3. If it helps, your care for others will forever be remembered and appreciated. I have lost those I loved dearly, and still remember those who took care of them, and though cut short, their last years, months, and days were better for me, them, us because people like you cared so much. The magnitude of the toll of all this will probably never be fully known to people not directly affected, but your reaching out to let us know is a good start. I hope it has helped you.

Thank you for what you are doing. Your post moved me to years. Thy to hang in there. We need you.

  4. Safeway has enough food, but might not have the item you are looking for. Be flexible. Home delivery is woefully slow, but Instacart is much faster. I have ordered 2 weeks of groceries from Sprouts through Instacart. Can finally get alcohol and masks on line within a 2 week delivery timeframe. Yes, at inflated prices, but they are coming down. Same with thermometers.

  5. i am not excusing the behavior, but you can freeze milk

Also, Parmalot is not bad at all if you can find it. Even powdered milk has it's uses. And yes, you can freeze fresh milk.

Parmalat is pretty good if you can find it and powdered milk has it's uses like baking. Yes, you can freeze fresh milk.

  6. I just threw in the towel and cancelled my flight on Alaska and my reservation at Inndulge. Did both on line. AA will not issue a refund since I purchased a discounted non-changeable, non-refundable ticket. However, they will issue me a travel credit for what I paid to be used before February 2021. I am good with that. Haven't heard back yet from Inndulge. Maybe they will see fit to do the same thing.

Wrote to Oliver to cancel. Killed me to have to do it. I live outside of Seattle, the epicenter of this outbreak. I do not generally consider myself old and decrepit, but several friends have been kind enough to point out that I am. Will be staying home from work starting today.

Just heard back from Inndulge. I paid 2 nights deposit for a 4 night stay. They are issuing me a credit for 2 nights during off season, or 1 night during peak season. Good enough.

  8. Did everyone see the pictures of American airports trying to screen people coming back from Europe? The airports were filled to capacity with people packed together like sardines. Do much for social distancing. This is insane!

Everyone is practicing social distancing here around Seattle. Not that hard since people here have been practicing social distancing for years. It's called the Seattle Chill.

  9. Travel insurance companies generally require that one purchase a policy within a few days of making a reservation. They won't sell you a policy close to your departure date for fairly obvious reasons. So did I get travel insurance when I booked the hotel and flight and did I pay more for a flexible airfare? Of course not. Indulge has my $500 half payment already. I will probably be out about a grand if things fall through. It is what it is.

I hear talk about interstate travel being curtailed, but so far it is just talk. I am slowly adjusting to what I see as increasingly more likely. Will probably give it until the end of the month before making a decision. I can be kinda stubborn.

I have an unwelcome question I have held off posting until now:

Can you get COVID-19 from fucking?

    --Asking for a friend.

  10. After that bombshell was dropped (#261) I had to consider my plans seriously, but after much soul-searching I've booked, a week at Inndulge (15-22/4), flying in via SFO and out via DFW (so one seriously long A380 sector, @nycman).

I'm looking forward to renewing old acquaintances and making new ones. Unfortunately other things prevent me from continuing to NYC this trip. I plan to attend all three events that Oliver lists in his announcement post in the other thread.

Be great to see you again.

  11. Hi all.. after a few years of considering it, I have decided to go to Montreal. After reading the posts about the types of guys, I think I have landed on taboo as my primary spot, and maybe a trip to campus.

Can you recommend a hotel that is close by? Looking for something around March, comfortable, maybe 3 star, around $150 USD a night range. I'm not super adventurous when it comes to food so some walk-able options would be great in more of a fast casual type atmosphere. I don't want to sit in a fancy restaurant at a table by myself.

I'd also be open to where to absolutely avoid =)

    cheers

I have stayed twice at the Hôtel St. Denis and plan to again. Simple, but attractive, comfortable rooms. Nice place. Good value.

  12. Good post. Covers the essentials nicely. I can't imagine anyone not enjoying the vibe. One becomes very comfortable very quickly.

Canyon Club is a little rough around the edges, but fun and very reasonable. I enjoyed staying there, mostly for the people I met. Decided to repeat my last year's stay at Inndulge. Must nicer. Good perks such as breakfast and free happy hour. Good opportunities for socializing with an interesting crowd. Only downside is it is about 2.5 times the price of Canyon Club. Either will be fun, one is more of a resort.

  13. just another reminder that the official invitation for the 2020 forum weekend is in a separate thread started by Oliver, the host.......please read it all, then reply to Oliver whichever way is appropriate (see the invitation) if you plan to go........if this is your first time at the weekend, you may want to go thru this thread (you're reading now) to get a feel for the weekend's "vibe"........as always, ask any questions you have.......and don't forget about getting accommodations as soon as possible......many are staying at the clothing-optional InnDulge in the heart of the Warm Sands "gayborhood", where there are other choices, too......and several are staying at the less-expensive clothing-optional Canyon Club, about two miles from the Warm Sands neighborhood, but very convenient (walkable) to the Saturday dinner location......hotel rates will be pricey, as almost all Palm Springs-area accommodations are during most winter and spring weekends.....there are, of course, other mainstream motels/hotels, chain hotels, and resorts......if you don't want to rent a car, a few of the attending forum members may be able to help with rides to the planned events.......
