I love coffee or drinks. There isnt much at stake, it's a nice way to while away 30 mintues, and you get a good fix on a person.

That last time I was in LV, I went to Dunkin' Donots for the first time ever - surprisingly, the coffee was really good.

Maybe recovering from a surgery just kills your appetite. I had a fairly major surgery a month ago and haven't had much of an appetite since. I eat everything, but not with much gusto and I have lost a little weight since then.

Zaditor does sting first thing in the morning - but it works so well that I think the momentary stinging is worth putting up with. The second dose, late in the day, doesn't seem to sting.

My problem is allergies. I use a generic of Zaditor, which used to be prescription-only but is now OTC. It is absolutely terrific for eyes that are dry and itchy from allergies.

San Francisco summers are chilly, foggy and windy. This summer, the weather is gorgeous nearly every day - not a cloud in the sky, perfect shirtsleeves whether - wonderful, but definitely not typical.

No ifs ands or buts. This comes to a screeching halt now!

I know what you mean. Ever since I found out that I might be a tiny bit Jewish, I’ve been wanting to buy a black fedora.

I know a guy who found out late in life that he was of Jewish ancestry. He declared that "deep down" he had always known it and overnight became uber-Jewish, going to services at the gay synagogue and celebrating Jewish holidays. I found out recently that a distant relation was a Jew. I thought it was interesting, but I don't feel any more Jewish than I did before I found out.

We just finished watching Broadchurch. It was pretty good - another of those British murder mystery series that takes place in a quiet seaside town. Has an eerie David Lynch flavor. Cute Jonny Bailey of Bridgerton fame has a minor role.

Actually, I think I misunderstood. It seems that Unicorn is talking about two separate functions in this thread.

It should be noted that the party was a fundraiser and that most of the guests were not people he knew very well - they were just there to be separated from their money, so why wouldn't you serve them what they wanted, in the interest of converting someone from prospective to actual donor.

I was in 6th grade. The principal came on the PA system to announce that the president had been shot, but the box in our classroom was out so we didnt hear it. We did hear a sudden commotion in the hall outside the classroom. A girl who had been excused a little early for a doctor appointment or something like that came rushing back in to say that the president had been shot. The teacher slapped her face for saying such a horrible thing. When we went back to school the next week, the teacher apologized to her profusely.

In the months following, the Agency for Civil Defense went around and identified buildings that could serve as fallout shelters after a nuclear attack. They were marked with black-and-yellow signs that indicated the capacity of the shelter and were supposed to be stocked with enough food and water to last for two weeks after the attack. I haven't seen one of those shelter signs in awhile. Everybody talked about building fallout shelters in their backyards. We had one neighbor who actually did it.

Yep - it was a 50s - 60s thing. Now and again, my father would load us all in the car to catch a movie at the drive-in. We absolutely loved it - a real treat. The last drive-in theater in the Bay area was in Union City and closed, I think, in the early 'oughts. I used to drive by it every morning on the way to work, telling myself that we needed to go the drive-in. There's a big shopping mall and a 25-plex there now.

I have seen the photographs. They look pretty sexy in their business attire.
