Pre Covid that has worked for me !!! As Covid is a virus that is spread like a flu or cold virus, some of it is airborne and some of it is on a surface. Considering that Covid lasts on a surface for up to 14 days , there has to be some benefit in wiping down surfaces, and hand sanitising. The Airborne but is managed by the masks. why do Dr and Nurses wear masks in theatre etc, why do the Japanese wear a mask when they have a cold ?? My medical people here in Sydney say that wearing a mask, and hand sanitising , wiping of surfaces is the best we can do at a ground level practical level. I would prefer to do something than sit around wringing my hands and worrying about when i am going to catch it and die !!!! there has to be a correlation between these actions and the actions of lock downs, border closures, not being able to travel, to congregate in groups, to socially distance. In Australia we have lost about 1000 people in a 25 million population, those numbers are way down on what happened in the USA the UK and EU, because people chose to make their own decisions and not wear masks and not socially distance and etc etc etc. take what you want from that !!! But that’s a scientific experiment that has some good results, it has to be considered as helpful !!!!

I always used to come down with a cold or flu after flying on an international flight, have a great vacation and then be sick for a week or two when i got back - never felt good. During the dramas with swine flu, I had to travel to New Zealand when my Mum Passed away, this was April 2009. The day I was due to fly home, my flight was delayed as the inbound service had a sick child on board. we were told by the Business Class manager that the delay was for the aircraft to be sanitised. Get home a few days later get really really sick. You guessed it swine flu !!! SInce then I have never had a cold or a flu. When I fly i use hand sanitizer, everything i touch i use sanitizer and wipes. So i get on the plane, i wipe down my seat belt, my arm rests, the entertainment controller etc etc etc. When I go to the bathroom, and from Australia every where is a 3 -17 hour flight away, I do what I need to do, i wash with soap, i then grab a tissue or paper town to open the door, throw that in the trash. Go back to my seat and you guessed it - hand sanitise. In places like Bali or Thailand I do the same after handling the money. Yes May 2009 was the last time I got sick. With Covid we are that much more aware, so this has become a standard procedure. I hot desk at work, so we do it all the time. Rates of colds and flu‘s went down last winter, why because we are wearing masks and sanitising. Something is working, so lets keep doing what we are doing until we are able to eradicate this virus

I love travelling on my own, and these days with smart phones eating alone is not an issue. I used to take a book with me prior to smart phones. I organise my trips myself, its amazing what you can learn on line - just study some tour guides so you can maximise the experience. I did a solo trip to Kuala Lumpur, Hanoi, Hue, Danang, Hoi An,Nha trang, Ho Chi Minh City, the Mekong Delta, up the Mekong into Cambodia, Phenom Penh, Battambang, Siam Reap, and back home via Kuala Lumpur. Flights, hotels, transfers, train, car, boats , just amazing. Everything worked. Equally when my husband and I went to Europe we did 45 days in 14 counties a mix of flights, ferry, car hire, trains, luxury hotels, GayBnb, stately Homes, just amazing. You do need to be organised, but its fun for me to do it. Travelling alone is awesome , people talk to you because they feel sorry for you, there is no one to tell the tales of your holiday pleasures, if you want to spend some time in a bathhouse, or have an encounter with a local man or a rent man you can,and nil secrets to be shared.

This thread got me thinking, I had an interesting trip down memory lane last night, i wrote down a list of all my hires, and i got to 110 sessions. I counted multiples with different providers, but they bulk were one of‘s. Two gents I have seen 4 times, a couple 3 times a couple twice. As a hirer I have used both. Hotels can be great as they have all the resources, I particularly like a hotel that does not require a passkey for the elevator. My go to Hotel in Melbourne is great for this, and if you stay on the side of the hotel with the suites, or bigger rooms, its quite discrete as the elevator is not near the reception desk. I have also used AirBNB successfully, I had a great overnight in Bali with a well known International Escort, who lives in Bali. He was living in Ubud, I was staying in the Nusa Dua area, so the 90 minute commute was going to be paid travelling time, the Escort suggested i stay the night in the Ubud area. I found via AirBNB a one bedroom pool villa for about $120, so I got there at 2pm, had some lunch relaxed in the pool, enjoyed the ambience as the infinity pool was perched about the Ubud river. The villa had an outdoor bathroom, a nice king sized bedroom, complete with 4 poster bed ( great for bondage) the outdoor living space was a terrace, partially covered, with an open kitchen breakfast bar, an outdoor lounge setting, an outdoor dining setting. At 8pm when my guest arrived we had some scotch, some play, ordered dinner, then spent the evening playing inside and outside, drinking scotch and smoking cigars. I remember standing outside smoking with my guest behind me, his arms around me as we marvelled at a full moon, I remember him lying on the outdoor lounge smoking a cigar while I delighted in orally pleasuring him. None of these additional benefits would have been possible in a hotel. the next morning after he left about 10am, I tidied up, enjoyed the ambience of the pool for some nice naked swimming and checked out at midday.

I live in Australia and most of the gold diggers here are from Asia. Due to our geography we see very few Eastern European or Hispanic people. Gold diggers can exist in any form!! If anyone took my comments as being racist, they certainly are not. As a gay man who has been judged and badly treated by prejudice for 60 years, (as i am sure many on here have), i judge people by one criteria. “How do they treat me?” when i meet someone new I treat them with respect and dignity, if they act that way towards me, then it continues, if they back stab me or treat me dishonourably then I judge them accordingly. However many men in Asia are looking for improvement to their world. I have seen so many people bring a new lover from Asia to Australia, pay all their expenses, and just to be ripped off, the partner is out playing around when their relationship is not open, and it all ends badly. So i was just saying exercise caution. Life is Asia is different and more difficult that in the west, so many people see trading sex for a lifestyle improvement as a valid transaction. Its when one partner has different expectations that issues arise. We have a home in Bali, which we greatly enjoyed before Covid, and hope to enjoy again when we can travel again, ( our borders are closed, we need permits (hard to get) to exist and permits to re enter then do quarantine at a cost of $4K,) but I know that most Balinese see us as walking ATM. When you spend what they earn in a month on a single nice meal, or some shopping its normal for the jealousy or envy to exist. I can remember many years ago, I wear a Cartier fragrance, as my signature smell, it retailed in Sydney for around $550 a bottle, so I buy it when I am in Asia. I walked into a department store in Bali, I saw it, saw the price was 880,000 rupiah, which is about $88 AUD, so I asked how many bottles they had, 6 was the answer, could I please purchase all 6 bottles, The response was do you know how expensive that is Sir, yes that’s fine. So in that one transaction i paid, the equivalent of about 5 months income to the shop assistant, but to me it was a saving of at least $2500. Its all relative. I am sure I was much talked about not just in the store but in their families and friends. What the locals do not grasp is that we work hard to travel and have international holidays, at that stage of my life i was working 6 x 12 hr shifts a fortnight, as standard employment, and most fortnight’s i was working 3 x 12 hr overtime shifts, so I just worked, slept and counting the $$. Hence when we went away we shopped, clothes, shoes, etc, but the locals could not grasp that, they just saw us as rich people with plenty of money. the rent boy scene in Bali is full of boys from all over Indonesia, they charge 600 000 rupiah for an overnight, you met them in the bars, but in those days the monthly income was about 1 million a month, its about 3 times that now, so they were living well. For us to buy a hot man for the night for $60 was nothing, so we do get the reputation for being walking ATM. I hope the OP finds the love of his life and he does not get ripped off, hopefully our suggestions which come from a place of love and concern are considered and assessed in the spirit they are given

I want to express a caution, here!! Some Asian men are looking for a way to improve their life, and a man with money will be a way out of poverty for them. I totally understand their motivation. If its a true love match, I say go for it. But be very cautious. I would suggest that you look in cities where professional men gather, like Singapore, Tokyo or Taipei. Or even in cities in your country where AsIan gay men gather in larger numbers. I would avoid places like Bangkok, Bali, HCMC!! Maybe join some Asian gay groups, and go from there. But do guard your credit cards, bank accounts etc, until you have a very clear understanding of your partners values. A pre nup is a good idea.

I had a very interesting encounter in a Gay BnB.
