  1. Looking at JFF this morning where I currently only have one subscription (Manuel Skye) made me think about how different providers approach this business differently. I have to say Manuel is one smart cookie: He breaks down most scenes into 3 or 4 parts which he posts over a period of a few weeks, so if someone's subscription is about to lapse he might extend it just to see the concluding part of a scene. While this might sound bad (and I would honestly just prefer to have an entire scene posted as one clip), I don't think it's a bad business practice as long as there is other content being posted at the same time. I've noticed that Manuel usually has 2 or 3 scenes going at a time, so while he posts part 2 of 3 of one scene he's posting the first part of another and the last part of something else. He also posts a lot of solo material and "flashback" scenes. He posts some teasers of videos available as PPV in direct messaging, but unlike some guys it isn't like he refuses to post full scenes without getting paid more than the standard subscription fee. I don't know how his page is working out for him financially, but from the outside I would say that he seems to have put thought into how to maximize his income from this by keeping fans happy but also keeping them wanting more. I'll contrast this with a couple of other guys whom I won't name who posted almost no content other than still photos and very brief solo scenes. They'd tease that they would soon be posting a hot scene and/or ask what the fans wanted to see, but then they would fail to deliver. It's amazing to me that a provider doesn't understand that they won't retain any subscribers if they aren't posting anything of value. One of these guys even had the gall to increase his subscription rate from $10 to $14.95 per month because, he said, he needed more money to create content. He really had that backwards -- he needed to create and post more content so $10 per month seemed worth it, and then maybe he could have increased his price and retained satisfied customers at a higher revenue point.
  2. I think the only clear misrepresentations occur when a masseur advertises an erotic massage and then remains fully clothed and doesn't do anything outside of what a therapeutic masseur would do. Beyond that, if you want to know what an erotic massage from a specific provider is going to entail then ask. As others have written, however, consider it a bonus if a masseur wants to have sex with you beyond giving you a happy ending with his hand. Hire an escort at escort rates if you want more.
  3. A funny clip showing how far an undercover cop posing as a prostitute will go to make a bust, from one of my favorite South Park episodes Butters' Bottom Bitch.
  4. I've never liked Pepsi (regular or diet) precisely because it doesn't have that edge/bitterness/whatever that Coke has. Coke is sweet but it has that bite that makes it more enjoyable. Fortunately Safeway's house brand cola has a taste profile more like Coke, so I can buy their version to save money. If Coca Cola has reformulated Coke Zero to taste more like Pepsi that is, indeed, unfortunate. Truth be told that I seldom drink colas any more anyway since it's harder to find caffeine free versions and I'm trying to limit my caffeine.
  5. Most people wouldn't, but if you hire escorts and/or peruse sites like Rentmen to look at escort ads then you might recognize someone in the gym as the guy who has an escort ad online. That's obviously why some men choose to not have their faces in their ads (or at least have it only visible for those who have access to their "private" photos). After I posted my other reply, I noticed the other recent thread about how/whether to acknowledge an escort you've hired when you see him out in public somewhere. The majority opinion seems to be that people value privacy above all else and consider it improper for a client to approach or greet an escort in public and vice-versa. Given that it seems like most would view it as a faux pas to approach someone in public for the purpose of soliciting him.
  6. I'm still skeptical, but I have no skin in this game since Rainer doesn't live near me. I just considered it a public service to point out to other forum members who might be considering contacting Rainer the coincidence of two new members joining at the same time (according to the site, literally within the same hour), both having hired Rainer previously and both motivated to find a thread about him so they could post their very similar negative views. Maybe that is all just coincidental but it surely set off my BS meter.
  7. I've noticed that even if one sorts by distance, premium levels of membership show up first in order of distance, and then the providers with basic membership show up sorted by distance.
  8. Interesting that both Palmsun and NVX7 joined this forum yesterday and both have already hired Rainer and made it a point to post similar negative perceptions about him. I smell something fishy, and it isn't Rainer. 😄
  9. Because he's willing to bottom on film with people he wants to have sex with but he doesn't want to bottom with guys he wouldn't have sex with if not for the money? Because he's willing to bottom bareback on film with other people who've taken rapid HIV tests that day but doesn't want to create an expectation that someone can hire him and fuck him raw, just because he does that on film? Because he's willing to go through the effort to prep to bottom for a scene which pays more than what a single-hour encounter will pay, but he's not willing to prep to bottom for men who contact him for an hour-long appointment via Rentmen? I'm just speculating as I don't know this guy, but the above are obvious possibilities to me. For him, maybe other things factor into that decision.
  10. I'm not a provider, but I'm confused by your inquiry since I assume that anyone who is already a provider would much prefer to be approached via the methods listed in their ads (text, email, call) than someone approaching them in a public setting. If what you are hoping to accomplish is to interact with them in person at the gym to decide if you want to hire them, I think a text makes sense. You can write something basic like, "I've seen your rentmen ad and notice you're at the gym right now. I'm the guy in the red shorts and white tank top on a treadmill. If you can spare the time, come chat with me about a scheduling a meeting." If the guy doesn't want to chat about his business in the gym, he can either ignore you or reply by text telling you that you can call him later if you want. If you're talking about just approaching a random hot guy at the gym and using a "line" to solicit him, good luck with that. I'm sure some guys do that and maybe some forum members can chime in if they've successfully done this. Any provider answering, however, isn't likely to help you with approaching someone who isn't a provider since someone already working as an escort might be annoyed to be interrupted, but he's not going to react negatively to being perceived as an escort. A random hot guy might take offense at the suggestion that he's willing to provide companionship for money. I've even had masseurs who got a bit offended when I asked if they were available for something more than erotic massage for a higher rate.
  11. It is certainly acceptable for providers (both escorts and masseurs) to chime in here, as long as you aren't sharing personally identifying information that isn't already publicly available.
  12. He's been discussed here favorably in the past, though it's obvious that a lot of his photos are old since he's been using them for many, many years. I think the last time he was discussed, someone mentioned that photo #10 in his Rentmen ad was an accurate representative of his then current look.
  13. Did you follow through with an appointment? I just noticed he's visiting San Francisco soon and his public photos sure are appealing.
  14. I'm confused. You were going out to a nightclub with lots of gay men 30 years or so ago but didn't have sex with any of them?
  15. The past year and a half has been challenging for most people. The way I've handled my frustrations is to be thankful that I (a) didn't lose my job so I've had no income/housing insecurity and (b) did not get ill or, worse yet, die. I find it helps to put things in perspective. Glass half full versus glass half empty, as it were.
  16. I don't mind entering a building with a concierge as long as I don't have to check in with them to say where I am going. So far I have never visited an escort where that was required. Most people who live in larger buildings just have intercom systems where they can buzz you in and then you are on your own to take the elevator/stairs to their unit. As for roommates, I don't mind if someone has one but if he's home during appointments then hopefully he can be in another room with the door closed and not be making enough noise that his presence is obvious.
  17. I don't care about clutter, but I do care about cleanliness. I'm not talking about needing to pass a white glove test, but if the sheets are obviously dirty or if the bathroom clearly needs to be cleaned it's a major turn off. The other thing that's important to me is discretion. I'm not happy when I'm obviously seeing the previous client leave as I arrive or if I see someone arrive as I depart. I'm not thrilled if I walk through/by a room with someone else in it.
  18. I don't hire as much as I used to -- even before the pandemic my hiring had slowed to a trickle -- but it was very rare in my experience for someone to ask for money up front. I did do what a lot of clients mention when I had guys over, leaving the payment in a conspicuous place. But when I went to an escort's or masseur's place I never took out the cash first to show it to them and only a couple of times did anyone ask for payment up front. In both cases I simply left. As others have written, there are risks to both sides just like there are in many other service industries where clients pay providers directly. That there are a few bad apples who try to get something for nothing doesn't mean it's reasonable for providers to require every client to pay up front. I'd say there are far, far more posts here from clients who have been ripped off by providers after having paid up front than there are escorts who were not paid or underpaid after the session ended. That being said, a business owner can set his own rules and if someone wants his payment only in fifty dollar bills and wants it up front, he's well within his rights to require this. However, if someone wants payment before the session begins he really should mention that in his ad so as not to waste his and his prospective clients' time.
  19. Not a link to a free site. I saw it when I subscribed to Diego Sans' Only Fans page.
  20. Not my experience, but Diego Sans posted a scene of him fucking the very cute Mark Tanner. Mark is riding Diego's cock when housekeeping apparently opens the door. We don't see the housekeeper but we do hear her briefly. As soon as the door opens, Mark slides off Diego's cock and Diego stands up, both of them laughing. I think Mark makes some quip about how being caught by housekeeping will make the video better. I'm glad they kept that part in the video, and I was impressed that they were able to get right back to it. Of course, with two gorgeous men in the room what's a little distraction in the middle of fucking?
  21. I was a Freshman in college, living in a dorm. I went to a meeting of the campus gay students' group. After the meeting, a bunch of people said they were going out for pizza at a place about a 15 minute walk from campus (as I recall -- it's been over 40 years). Someone in the group started chatting me up as we left, and then offered me a ride to the pizza place. I started to get worried as we drove farther and farther -- I knew the pizza place wasn't that far away. I asked the guy why we were driving so long and he said, "You don't really want to go for pizza, do you? Why don't we head back to my place?" I agreed even though I was still a bit uneasy that I was in some stranger's car and had no idea where I was. We eventually got to his place and after a very short time he sat down next to me, leaned in, and started kissing me. I vividly recall my feelings about it because it was both exciting and disgusting -- the former because I liked finally kissing someone and the latter because he was a smoker and his mouth tasted disgusting. Not long after that we were in bed 69ing. I think we had a total of four dates.
  22. You have good taste. Dolph and Kris certainly were (are?) stunning. Not sure Hugh Jackman would be my #1 choice to look like, though. Maybe a young Paul Newman? Robert Conrad? Sal Mineo as he looked when filming Who Killed Teddy Bear or Marlon Brando when he filmed Streetcar Named Desire? Jason Carter of the Pit Crew on RuPaul's Drag Race? So many choices.
  23. The "man who recently passed" took over this website after another man passed away a number of years ago who went by the moniker Hooboy. Hopefully this link will work, but if not simply do a Google search for Hooboy male escort review and there will be a link to a post in the archive here that has a brief history of the site. https://archive.m4m-forum.org/press/history
  24. Yes, JFF is horrible lately in terms of responsiveness. I also emailed their support team because I was being logged out frequently with a message that a VPN was detected and they only allow you to use a VPN if you contact them and they authorize it (or something like that). The response was entirely unhelpful, something along the lines of "thanks for contacting us, what is your issue?" I had already told them what the issue was. At any rate, I think I resolved that issue myself -- I use a few add-ons in Firefox to block ads and other tracking and I think one of them was causing JFF to think I was using a VPN. Once I disabled Ghostery and AdBlock+ I stopped getting kicked off, but their site is still much slower than it used to be and sometimes doesn't respond at all when I try to log in.
