I use a VoIP number app that only requires an email to register an email I created solely for this purpose. If I see someone multiple times and become a regular, then they’ll get my real number. I have no interest in giving every provider I try my personal phone number. For the same reason, first meetings are always at their place or a hotel, I don’t want every provider I meet to know where I live.

Dude, you just answered your own question. A LOT of gay men fantasize about being with a “straight” man and a lot of gay men only seek out “straight” men. In my opinion, and in many cases, “straight” is nothing more than a marketing ploy to get business. I am old and way too cynical. That said, check the guy out, vet him well, hire, and have fun. (And, to be fair, a lot of men who enjoy and seek out sex with other men don’t identify as gay. I’m not telling you anything you don’t know.) 

Kissing requires chemistry, which is recognized only when face to face. Never assume it will be included, even if they say they're into it. But always show up with your mouth freshly douched and polished.

I've had dancers ask questions like, "Where are you staying?" and "Are you staying alone?" when I've just told them I'm from out of town.
Last night for example, during a lap dance with a dancer from out of town, he asked, "Do you live alone?"
Questions like that often indicate a good direction for the conversation to lead to private arrangements.
In answer to the OP's question, when you and a dancer are discussing a lap dance, or during/after a lap dance, you can always say something like, "If you ever want to do more than a lap dance, let me know." Just a simple sentence that can either end there or lead to a more promising discussion.
 

Ive never asked but i have had dancers ask me after ive done lap dances.  I have only accepted one offer recently after I knew the dancer for a long time and have since asked him a few times.  It wasnt something i really thought about doing prior.

I've also asked "Do you ever see guys outside the club?" I've got a decent record of taking dancers home. It's always been after getting a private dance from them.  Rarely that night (since by the time their shift ends I'm definitely asleep), but we make arrangements for another night. 
Actually there was one time 'that night', a dancer was very interested and we fooled around in my car in a roadside parking lot after the club closed. That was a hookup, not a paid encounter, and kind of amazed me, he was way out of my league.

And then .... there are dancers that will approach YOU. Last time I was in Montreal, in less than an hour .. I had 3 dancers tell me that they would go back to my hotel during the shift. I was flattered to say the least. One hotter than the other. Never did talk about a fee, but thinking I lost an opportunity to add another memory to my adventures.

The first 25 years of my life I was supported by my parents and got educated. The next 25 years I supported myself and built my wealth. The last 27 years I have been retired and led a comfortable life without having to work. 
Worked for me.
But I was lucky to live in a time when costs of living were reasonable and one could save. Houses were relatively affordable and other things like cars were relatively cheap. I always had 2 which was a bit of an indulgence. And travel was easy and relatively hassle free. 
 
I feel sorry for the younger generation. They don’t have it as easy. 
 

All good advice above. I would add that if a dancer gives an especially good lap dance it can be an indication he’d be up for spending more intimate personal time. Dancers who are more standoffish or just going through the motions during a lap dance are in my experience less likely to agree to a meeting outside the club. A question that has worked for me, “Do you ever do private shows?” They’ll know what you mean.

@BeamerBikes  Thank you for that advice. I had not read that in the forum before, stated like that, and that is excellent info to have. 
@ajvanguard  There's no harm in asking directly; the worst thing they're gonna say is "no" - referring back to @BeamerBikes - you need to be prepared to get the brush off.
The one time I asked a dancer directly we were able to negotiate a later visit at my hotel during a lap dance. Dude showed up when promised and gave me a very good time for a fee that I was willing to pay.  But he easily could have told me "no". Guess I got lucky. I haven't tried that again since.

I met a guy a couple months ago. Saw him on RM.  texted. Decided to meet at a bar.  He came in.  He was attractive but short and built like a fireplug.  We talked.  I bought him dinner and gave him money for his time but didn’t go through with the service.  I wanted someone I can at least look reasonably look into their eyes
