If your messages on Grindr referred in any way to their RM status or to hiring them etc then they’re extremely likely to ignore you. Not because they’re not into you (although it could also be that) but because Grindr will ban them if they’re engaging in solicitation on the platform. 
By the way, work engagements and non work engagements are two different and distinct things. Someone hires me, I’m looking to deliver what he wants (not what I want). It’s about him. If I hookup with someone on Grindr I’m looking to get my needs taken care of just as much as the other guy is. It works differently. Don’t conflate them.
Hire a good guy and he’ll make you feel like he’d be there with you in that moment even if you weren’t paying him…but don’t test that out because you’ll spoil it for yourself. It’s like buying a lottery ticket before the draw: you could be the winner of the jackpot and it feels exciting. After the draw, when you didn’t win the ticket is just a bit of paper. Update - he was indeed prompt and professional in informing me of his $350 fee and confirming time and place of the incall appointment. 
However, at no point in time did he ask about me, my sexual preferences or what I wanted to get out of a session.  Nothing,  Just fee, time and place.  Which left me wondering - am I just a number to him?  It all felt very cold and very transactional.  I cancelled 48 hours before the scheduled appointment.  I think my cancellation upset him.
Instead, I had a wonderful 3-course lunch with wine pairing at Le CouCou - for $260 which included a generous tip.   The restaurant went above and beyond letting me try additional plates and wines.  The hospitality was overwhelming.  I felt good spending $260 there vs $350 on a potentially cold experience in a HK walk up.
I understand the cost involved for traveling escorts visiting NYC and a need to pack in as many appointments as possible.  But at least put in some effort getting to know your client a bit, please.

He’s a waste of time and money.  Kinda douchey as stated above.  His communication is not great either.  Very weird concave chest thing, although I could’ve gotten over that if he was a little more polite and into providing a good experience.
