  1. I've avoided Chili's since they (years ago) refused to cook a burger rare. I went last week with my Dad and the waitress said she'd ask about cooking the burger rare, and it did come out quite rare.
  2. I read the whole thing. I'm in love with that professor.
  3. From all accounts he had a wonderful sense of humor. When he did his guest spot on Star Trek: The Next Generation (playing himself, in a poker game Data created on the holodeck with him, Einstein, and Isaac Newton), he interrupted Newton's speech about being the father on physics saying "Oh no, the apple story again". Makes you wonder if he wrote that line himself.
  4. Damn, I thought this was going to be about a Naked Kombat scene.
  5. My dad, bless his heart, showed up with a printed map to Chili's when we went to dinner last week.
  6. I thought Eddie Redmayne was just perfect, he came off as socially awkward, someone more comfortable with animals than people, but with a huge heart.
  7. You mean printed, or video? Printed was probably about 8 or 9 years old, my Dad's stash of Playboys and Penthouse; even back then, I knew I was more interested in the men (in the Penthouse couples pictorials, and sometimes in playboy "Year in Sex" or "Year in Sex in Movies" articles). I remember telling a friend that I was looking for naked men, I guess neither of us knew what that meant. Video was probably early college years - on a dare we checked out a peep-show style adult theater, had no idea what we were doing, and two of us jumped in a booth that was showing one of the few men-on-men films. In fact it must have been summer after my freshman year of college, the two of us were the only ones 18 and allowed in the establishment.
  8. So the robot is now an alien? Or maybe an alien-built robot?
  9. Wow. I couldn't disagree more, it's one of my favorite movies. This could be a "see it at the midnight premiere" movies for me. And what's with that first scene, I thought you couldn't disapparate within Hogwarts? or is that a newer rule?
  10. Not to mention the book. 900+ pages of drivel. I'd gotten to 600-700 pages before I was convinced it was horrible, and finished reading it out of sheer stubbornness.
  11. I agree, that's a pretty clear signal - but again, be nice, don't be pushy. If he gives you a small signal, give him a small signal back, like sliding your hand closer and stroking gently with your fingertips. Let it progress slowly, until / if he gives you a sign.
  12. his phone's still listed on rentmen. MichiganMan, had you discussed fees prior to your appointment on Saturday 3/10? I wonder if he thought, from the fact that you asked, if you were someone he hadn't been in contact with before. Either way - that's a weird answer. I think I'd pass too. For what it's worth, I *think* I saw him at the bar Friday night just as I was wrapping up there.
  13. Entertainment Weekly (ew.com) does a detailed recap every week, by Dalton Ross. He's been doing it for years, he knows the show very well (he's often on location with them) and he's very funny.
  14. According to Miss Manners, the person who issues the invitation pays. I first read that in one of her books sometime in the 80's, it's not a new thing.

  16. Well, it DOES serve to keep all the information about "Grey's Anatomy" in one thread, rather than two separate threads. *Disclaimer: This is no way indicates that I am a fan of the show "Grey's Anatomy". I think I watched two episodes, must have been at least 12 years ago.
  17. I agree, that looks like I'd enjoy that.
  18. My aunt, my mother's youngest sister, had dementia for years. My cousin said at my mother's funeral that she didn't plan on telling her mother that my mother had died. "She wouldn't remember it, but she'd remember being sad, and she wouldn't know why she was sad".
  19. I remember when she guest hosted on SNL, they put her in these huge stiletto heels that she couldn't handle, and then kept making her dance. At one point she said "At home it's always just a pair of Crocs".
  20. I have not, at least not yet. Appreciate the vote of confidence, though.
  21. I'm interested in a report too :-)
  22. Keeping my fingers crossed that Michael stays around. When they start to lose weight, and the shorts have trouble staying up, and they've been away from their razors for a month... :-D
  23. My paternal grandmother went by "Honey", she said Grandma or any variant made her feel old. Mean old lady. She stayed with us for a week to watch us when I was 11 and my mother was out of state with her family. She terrorized us, including my then 2-year-old sister.
  24. I just gave both sites a try, you don't get to check out the massage therapist before you enter your credit card info? Am I doing something backwards?
  25. I had no idea gypped was even spelled that way or referred to gypsies. I've (mentally, at least) spelled it "gipped" since I was a kid.
