Can you name the greatest philosopher of the 18th century? I. Kant. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RDTeECj38cY

Had arrangements for a three-way with him last year in Chicago. Everything set. On day we had agreed on, he no longer replied to any communications. Flake, game-player, and waste-of-time.

I've noticed that recently a lot of MSMBC's commentators beginning their sentences with "So,..." To me, this is the new "Um,..." and "Like..." Maybe it's a fad; it's definitely a plague. I know, I know, F. Scott felt great about "So, we beat on, boats against the current..." But Renato Mariotti, as hot as he is, is no Fitzgerald. The Strunk & White in me prefers the total elimination of any unnecessary word at the beginning of a sentence, but would settle for a simple "Thus,...."

Question: Do you have a PLAN for what you might say/do if you encounter this mysterious person again? Flee? Engage? Question? Ignore?

Anything more than a mouthful is superfluous.

http://southfloridagaynews.com/Local/hustlers-in-south-florida-a-brief-history.html Birch St., Olas, Marlin Beach Hotel. Those were the days - never to return, I guess. Nothing ever beat "The Boulevard," in L.A., though. Although the area around Rounds Bar and Stella's in NYC were pretty good, too. http://www.papermag.com/10-sleazy-gay-places-from-nycs-glory-days-1427524835.html

I met Jeff at Drake's on Melrose Avenue in about 1989 - he was promoting a new video. Very polite and good-looking guy. I agree - Drake's is long gone, probably 20 years.

I think this guy has a hot body but I am not sure exactly what he's offering. No sex but apparently will network with you, and offer you some financial advice - for a measly $5,000. https://friendboy.pro/boys/CyberAltBro Anybody had any contact?

I guess it is theoretically possible that the police might question you, but it seems like "johns" are almost always caught "in flagrante delicto," that is, caught red-handed in a sting à la Chris Hanson. As E.T. Bass indicates, spending time trying to connect you to a likely misdemeanor criminal act would be a waste of most big city's policing time and effort. Your friend likely was caught making a direct offer of sex to an undercover officer, thus not needing your testimony. However, the BF gave you wise advice not to send any further incriminating texts to your friend as authorities may have his cell phone.

"I went through college in Canada." --- versus "I attended." "I have stayed in Maryland, California, and Texas." --- versus "I have lived in." "...ones in a while visiting art galleries and museums..." "… and above all I am a genuine man! " -- versus "I am genuine." It doesn't sound to me like a person whose primary language is English, even though I suppose, being from Canada, French might be. Still, the fact that you told him that you were not looking for any sort of relationship, and he neither refers to that message nor addresses it, leads me to believe that he is either using a form letter, or is really, really hard-headed. Either way, I personally would take a pass on this one.

Escort talks too long - should he get paid for it?
JayCeeKy replied to + StLouisOct's topic in The Lounge
Once again we clients sometimes mistake a business transaction as a dating experience. I was just watching the documentary "Swinging Richards" on Amazon Prime Video and was struck by something a dancer said: "Audience members should always remember that the dancers are here for the money, not for sex." Whenever I hire an escort I always note, as soon as he sits down and makes himself comfortable, what time it is and when we are scheduled to end - thus the contract is established and time parameters defined. Having said that, in the Theo review, I completely agree with the reviewer that he was scammed and believe that the escort needed to renegotiate the agreement with the added time/cost explained and agreed upon. Ambiguity in business transactions never end well. -
The Teaching Company ("The Great Courses") has several courses on Meditation/Mindfulness. I bought the DVD version of "The Science of Mindfulness: A Research-Based Path to Well-Being." You can purchase the courses in various formats (e.g. DVD, Video download, etc.).. Get on their mailing list and you will quickly find that they go on sale about 3 x a week with about 70% off the list price - and often with free shipping. For a preview of a couple of courses on Meditation/Mindfulness: https://www.thegreatcourses.com/courses/better-living/practicing-mindfulness-an-introduction-to-meditation.html https://www.thegreatcourses.com/courses/the-positive-mind-mindfulness-and-the-science-of-happiness.html You can also pay a yearly fee and watch most all of their courses online - which I have done - I usually watch them while I'm walking my three miles per day. Of course, if you wanna save a lot of money, you can always count on a YouTube "search" for free info. For instance:
-
Now the "Pro" search looks like it's returned to normal.

I was looking at the "Pro" search tool on A4A today and it looks to me like that function has either been disabled or perhaps is being updated. Also, I noticed, although there was only one profile that had "Masseur" under his name, the regular "Masseurs" seem to be missing. Is A4A another victim of SESTA/FOSTA ? Anybody else notice this change - or maybe it's just a temporary problem?

I saw some real nice "National Parks" calendars at Wal-Mart yesterday for $3.49. They're in the main aisle near Housewares, if you're interested.

Three reasons why people think that "good things come in threes": 1. ancient Chinese tradition that the number three was lucky 2. most events in life are the result of random chance but humans tend to believe that events are purposeful and not haphazard 3. observational bias - if you THINK that good things come in threes you will be EXPECTING and watching for three good events, disregarding "bad" events during the intervening time

If you've tried therapy, was it worth the $$$?
JayCeeKy replied to + FreshFluff's topic in The Lounge
Dr. John Gottman claims he can predict with 85-90% accuracy whether a couple (including gay/lesbian couples) will remain married or divorce - and he can do so just by observing their interaction for about 15 minutes. His conclusions are evidence-based after decades of research. Having provided marriage and family therapy for many years, I can attest that his observations are valid, IMHO. If you are interested, I encourage you to watch: -
I agree with your distinction between people who lead moral lives but who, for whatever reason, do not subscribe to any particular religion or belief system. It's been said that there are many people that God has that the Church doesn't (and vice versa). The theologian, Karl Rahner, got into hot water once by saying that many (most?) non-Christians/non-believers are, in fact, Christian in essence, if not in name (the Anonymous Christian). But there are some people who believe that, because God is "all-forgiving" that they somehow have God "by the balls" i.e. there's no way he's gonna punish us because of our weak human nature. However, most religions propose a theme of divine justice, i.e. that there will be an accounting of our deeds, and that there will a separation of "sheep from goats, wheat from chaff." I find it hard to believe that Hitler would have the same fate in the afterlife as my saintly grandmother. Christianity teaches that God is all-forgiving, but would not someone have to ask for forgiveness first? In the end, maybe we should all just hope that hell is just another literary form.

I find merit, though it is not w/out criticism, in Pascal's Wager: The wise decision is to wager that God exists, since "If you gain, you gain all; if you lose, you lose nothing", meaning one can gain eternal life if God exists, but if not, one will be no worse off in death than if one had not believed. In other words, what do you have to lose?

After a lot of research, I bought the Panasonic Arc 5 (ES-LV65-S) a couple of months ago. I am very happy with it - close shave and easy maintenance. Put it in you Amazon "shopping cart" and wait until the price goes down to around $120. You don't need the charging base - it just takes up valuable bathroom real estate.

No, but then, skepticism is characteristic of us Cancers.

I drove down to Nashville a few weeks ago to scout the talent. Very sparse pickins. The best of the lot (or so I thought) turned out to be a real dud. Go for the Windy City. Plus, there's a lot more to see/do in Chicago, though the escort rates are probably higher - but not by much. Edit: after I looked at the OP it occurred to me that perhaps he was asking about his own escorting opps in those cities. If so, then I would suggest that he give Nashville a try since there is such meagre competition.

For the medical professionals: Here's how pharma reps profile you
JayCeeKy replied to + FreshFluff's topic in The Lounge
I used to work with Drug Reps on a daily basis, and this article is quite illuminating. And I have no doubt that it used by many Reps. Not to stereotype, but almost every one of the Reps that I came across (both male and female) was good-looking and had an ebullient personality. They would always remember family member names, treat the staff like they were all his/her buddies, and were keen observers of happenings (and gossip) around the clinic, especially info concerning the prescribers. Your link did not work for me - but maybe this one will (it also includes a link to the original article). I have several relatives who are M.D.'s and I am going to forward this article to them. Thanks for the info. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1876413/
